Albrecht Dürer's travels through his own words and sketches | National Gallery

Dürer's surviving personal correspondence and diary entries tell us a great deal about his journeys. Despite the hundreds of years that separate us, his diary entries, personal sketches and letters are full of incident and anecdote and give us a sense of his character, his intellect, even his sense of humour.
Through paintings, drawings, prints, and letters, our exhibition 'Dürer's Journeys: Travels of a Renaissance Artist' brings to life this art history megastar and the people and places he visited.

Fabulous video. One of the greatest of artists. I enjoyed seeing these glimpses of his exquisitely beautiful script handwriting. It is impossible to fathom how Durer could have produced such a prodigious amount of detailed master works.
