I think they retconned the Rainbow Warriors to be Space Wolf successor chapters. As for Thunderwolves, they could fix it by giving Frensiaan Great Wolves the Canis Helix and it making Super Wolves.
If you take a shot every time Arch says "wolf" or shot-gun a beer every time Arch rants against "Newhammer" fantasy or 40k you'd be able to out drink Leman Russ himself
To quote the Man-Emperor of Mankind: All I got out of that was "wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf and wolf."
Harold Deathwolf, of the Space Wolves, used his Thunderwolf, led by his Wolf Scouts, to hunt down the Blood Wolves, under the command of Sven Wolfbard. You need to say that 5 times very fast to become an honorary Space Wolf.
I like to think the reason the Space wolves are left alone is because Magnus called dibs and that's just something the rest Chaos just can not help but respect. Though if the Space Wolves come to Chaos on their own, well it'd be foolish to turn them away.
Few experiences in my life have led me to want to embrace Khorne as thoroughly as going to the DMV. It's not an understandable reason to turn to Chaos, it's downright righteous.
Seeing as I got turned away from the DMV one time because the clerk said the state seal on my birth certificate was not raised enough, yes, turning to Chaos is a very understandable reaction and one of the few times joining the Ruinous Powers is justified.
Arch you forgot about the squad sized formation of Space Wolves faltering to chaos! When Red Corsairs boarded and took SW strike Cruiser "Wolf (sigh) of Fenris) in the last pocket of resistance several wolves turned their backs on their loyal battle brothers. Instead of dying in a glorious last stand together some number of marines slaughtered their compatriots and offered to serve Lugft Huron, to which he agreed. I believe it was in one CSM codex but I can't remember the edition, or maybe perhaps a white dwarf...? There even were cool conversions of them included. I think it's a honourable mention of Wolves turning from the light of the Allfather.
One slight note: 2nd founding chapters were given large parts of the legion's armory. So it is quite sensible for them to have access to respective vehicles.
One would think that the Wolf would be considered a vile curse by the sons of Russ. A symbol of degeneration and impurity, what occurs when man loses control of beast, after all, did not Russ go to great lengths to instill discipline into the absolute rabble that he was set in command of? The Space Wolves are one of those bits of 40k that is really, really cool that just needs a more subtle touch.
Regarding Cawl, in Battle of the Fang, Magnus does mention that "this could never be done again"."This" being gathering all the Thousand Sons together to attack something. So it kinda makes sense that he couldnt stop Cawl, also Plot Armour™.
"There are no wolves on Fenris!" Which means maybe thunder wolves aren't regular wolves. Maybe they are wulfen who have mutated full way. So effectively they are space marines riding piggyback on other space marines...
Poor poor Hraldir... killed by Magnus but could have ended up been killed by his own brothers for trying to save the Chapter.. If I remember right even Bjorn the Fell-Handed himself talked about wanted to have killed Hraldir if he had known what the Wolf Priest was doing.
My favourite part about the Raid ad reads is the music loop that's like 10 seconds long so it repeats itself like 3-4 times. I absolutely love that so much.
I always found the werewolf thing to be a bit too goofy. I'm no expert, but weren't the theme of the space wolves more viking than wolf at one point? Because now they go into battle with their wolf claws and wolf bolters riding on their super wolves using wolf pack tactics like they were trainrd by their wolf primarch as is most wolfy.
Kinda, yeah. They still used packs rather than squads even way back in 3rd, but the idea was more of a Nordic raider feel, with totems and carved runes, and the pelt of a wolf draped across the armour of those who had proven themselves in battle and slain one, I think. There was no merging of packs, and progression from a Blood Claw to a Long Fang was more a trial of endurance than anything else, as they had proven themselves tough enough to survive any warzone, and their canines had grown long enough to show them as being of venerable age.
Example of GW leaning way to hard on a trope they made space vampires and did it well with the blood angels and just failed with the werewolf thing. Maybe if they had a separate legion where that was there thing but trying to smash it it with Viking themes while it can work they did it very wrong
Maybe wolf cannons. Picture a gun that shoots 250mm wolves. It's a cannon that shoots wolves as projectiles. They were used mostly in 812.M36 when the Imperium tried to invade eye of terror, but they fell out of favor after with the invention of automatic wolf bolters, that shoot miniature wolves. Especially when normal wolves proved to be ill equipped to handle Poison Gas. Putting a gas mask on a wolf just never really worked so the Dominion Arsenal Company discontinued the Wolf Cannon and switched over production to the Hout-Ross Pattern Automatic Wolf Bolter. The Hout-Ross is much more practical with it's 25 round over the barrel ammo drum, as well as the fact the ammunition never tries to bite your face off. However, old wolf cannons still remain in use to this day, as long as they are well maintained. A sign of real craftsmanship and the amount of time and dedication taken to produce each cannon. Back then they were made by hand, you see. You often see them in War reenactments, but due to imperium regulations, they almost always use rubber molds that resemble wolves.
Imagine if the Imperial Fists just started having fist-things. Wearing fists on their armour, swapping out bolters for fisters, riding in to battle on giant fists...
Well Magnus not reacting to Cawl either means Magnus knows something that we don't about the Primaris Space Wolves, or that Cawl's interference either went unnoticed by even the Chaos Gods themselves or they simply don't care that he's added some bigger toys to the game. Personally I fall under the notion that Cawl hasn't managed to _cure_ the flaws in the gene-seed so much as he's been able to suppress those flaws to the point where it could be mistaken for a cure. My guess is that Cawl managed to fix the gene-seed on a physical level, but he has no way of dealing with the more metaphysical problems of the gene-seed like with the Blood Angels' Red Thirst and the Black Rage. I wager these aren't actually gene-seed flaws but instead a psychic resonance that the gene-seed has with the Primarchs, so no matter how many times the gene-seed is 'cured', if it comes from one of the Primarchs then the same flaws will resurface eventually and without warning. Following that line of logic, Magnus may have allowed Cawl to create the Primaris Marines precisely because he knew it would only be a short-term solution, and that he's actually counting on the Space Wolves using the Primaris to proliferate themselves, then suddenly have all of their new Primaris Successor Chapters suddenly come down with a severe case of lycanthropy all across the galaxy, outing the Curse of the Wulfen to the entire Imperium in the process, ruining the Space Wolves' reputation and potentially causing them to face sanctions by the Inquisition. I also wouldn't put it past Magnus to be petty enough to do this just so he can go _'YEAH! Remember when you dog-fuckers gave me and my sons shit because of the Flesh Change? How we were 'impure' and 'tainted by our filthy magic'? WELL HOW DOES IT FEEL YOU FURRY BASTARDS?! SUCK IT LEMAN, YOU COUCH-HUMPING SON OF A BITCH!'_
I like the idea of the "curing" of the gene seed being more like a resetting of it's problems, and due to the tampering by Cawl causing a vicious relapse when the problems pop back up again. Maybe it results in the Primaris Marines requiring extensive gene seed therapy to maintain stability, making them more resource hungry and situational compared to their older, more stable battle brothers. Maybe it results in massive amounts of Primaris chapters following in the footsteps of their actual gene-sires in a "History doesn't repeat but it rhymes" kind of way, leading to a lot of scandal, atrocity and shock throughout Imperial space. Hell, maybe even both, adding a new, fresh layer of "eternal struggle to maintain the status quo" on top of what the Imperium already has to deal with, because Guilliman needs more headaches.
Just a reminder that cawl combined all 20 gene seed somehow(like putting 20 different feral animals in a cage) , then proceeded to 'fix' the gene seed and STILL have it separate so it can produce a certain legion or chapter, he'd have to go and 'fix' in 10k years what Every biologis on MARS AND LUNA as well as SPACE MARINES have been trying for the past 10k year even the Emperor And Corax themselves.
I imagine that the Space Wolves were supplied with absolutely anything they would of needed to take and hold a planet for the Emperor. Just happened they were tempted and converted over to the other Gods. They must have loads of awesome kit to use still.I can see them being a big problem for the Imperioum if the GW writers choose so.They could bring out so many new books to bring in revenue, especially with New and Old world's relevant at the moment.love what you do.ThankQ.TkEZ>UK

It's stated and theorized in the lore and community that the original fenrisian wolves are the descendents of the original settlers of Fenris who devolved due to the canis helix. And the rideable thunderwolves that appear after the arrival of the Legion are the mutated devolved aspirants who didn't die or become Wulfen in the ascension procedure. Leading to them being rideable by space wolves and are able to follow commands. Because they remember their training and kinship to their fellow battle brothers
@@semi-useful5178 because they are softer than they let on. Because they turn into giant wolves and not abominations like the poor thousand sons that succumb to the flesh change. They accept them as fellow comrades and honored companions
Fun fact: I own the Blood Wolves army in the first pics. Christian Byrne is a close friend of mine and I inherited it off him. If anyone wants any closer pics or has any questions I would more than happy be willing to provide them. Cheers legends.
Chaos Space Wolves? This exists in the Dornian Heresy aswell, but as the full legion and not a traitorous warband as is here. As much as I love Loyalists from traitor legions, Traitors from loyalist legions are just as interesting to learn about. Especially those as numerous as these guys. Thanks for the lore video Arch. And I really do hope for more Traitors from loyaltist legions and Loyaltists from traitor legions soon.
Svein Ironwolf hunted across the Wolfhowl plateau, his quarry was a massive Thunderwolf. He swung his wolf axe at the Thunderwolf, but the creature used its wolfy agility to evade. The Thunderwolf lunged at Svein ironwolf and pinned him to the ground, but the Wolfhowl plateau started to shake as Hellwinter came upon Fenris. Ironwolf and the Thunderwolf were dragged into Morkai's jaws, becoming one with the Deathwolf.
On a subject of riding giant wolves. You may notice, that w40k was never shy of borrowing ideas drom other settings. So, approximately at the same time as Orks in World of Warcraft have started riding wolves, similar images, but with Astartes have appeared in GW books. I may be worong, but i doubt its a coincidence. 😊
Perhaps there is a place to look for this Sven of the blood wolves... in the great archives of Trazyn the infinite... he is very fond of... unique specimens... a renegade space wolf turned traitor because of too many rubber stamping can be very intriguing to him after all...
I watched WesHammers video on the Thousand Sons lore. And in that it was stated that Lemon Ruff hated them for mutations and defects in their legion. Seeing as Ruff boy has his own gene seed malfunction just like every one else. I denounce Leman Russ as a Hypocrite.
A Chapter that deserve Mounts would be the Flesh Tearers in my opinion. Like have their Prophecy were their planet "saves" them in form of making bond with the friggn Carnisaurs or Dreadsaurions during a invasion of their Homeworld or during the inevital turned traitors primaris Marines. Like Death Company Marines shouting HORRUSSS in the jungle and charging the fuckers mounted on top of fucking Saurus. Glorious. Also those guys can take the weight of Marines and are properly savage huehue.
I remember seeing a box of these guys. My school started up a warhammer club and we got a bunch of random stuff donated to us. In those donations was o box of these guys. I was confused at the time. Wish I took them for myself.
The Red Wolves, a Red Corsair warband, consisting of several space wolves who swore allegiance to Huron Blackheart and the red corsairs after the strike cruiser Wolf of Fenris was boarded.
It would be super fun to take a bunch of Primaris Space Wolves and Chaos Space Marine them out. I've always wanted to convert a small force of PSMs into Chaos by using Beastman, Mutant, Orgyn ect heada.... I've been slowly building a Warp Form Corax and by slowly building. I mean I bought a bunch of bits and placed then into a drawer. 😂 But it's going to be super cool lol
Idea: Origin Switch Up Choose one loyalist Primarch and one traitor. Roll a D20, and that Primarch starts on that planet rather than his original. If you roll the planet he came from or roll a planet twice over, roll again. If a 2 or 11 is rolled, that Primarch has become a lost Primarch and be replaced by a fanfic one.
Edit: misread the prompt and I rolled for all of them. Oh well. Parentheses is original Primarch: The Lion: Wherever Alpharius Omegon came from. Fulgrim: Baal (Sanguinius) Perturabo: Lost, replacing him with XI Primarch Kalib Kraad from Imperium Ascendant, famous for becoming Malal and his legion eating entire planetary populations. Homeworld: The Labyrinth, current headquarters of the Sons of Malice. The Khan: Macragge (Rowboat Girlyman) Russ: Nocturne (Vulkan) Dorn: Deliverance (Corax) Curze: Nuceria (God Emperor help us and "home" of Angron) Sanguinius: Chemos (Fulgrim) Ferrus Manus: Barbarus (Mortarion) Angron: Nostramo (now this I would love to see as it is where Curze is from) Guilliman: Medusa (Manus) Mortarion: Cthonia (Horus) Magnus: Chogoris (Khan) Horus: Fenris (Russ) Lorgar: Inwit (Dorn) Vulkan: Colchis (Lorgar) Corax: Caliban (Lion) Alpharius: Olympia (settled that one with a coin toss otherwise I would be rolling a d20 forever, home of Perturabo). Not the most insane heresy I suppose.
I thought that the Space Wolves could have successors (without too much issue with the Wulfen) so long as the candidates & recruits came from Fenris only?
Then why not conduct an extensive and long term breeding program designed to maximise the total potential compatible human population. First immigrate new people to Fenris and have them mix with the currently establish Fenrisians until the Fenrisians DNA has sufficiently spread across the population group. Encourage the Fenrisians to grow their population until it reaches to a point that it starts to strain the planet's resources. Then export the excess population to new worlds ideally those that are slightly more hospital than Fenris but still have a hard enough environment that encourages a marital society. Encourage these new worlds to increase their population so that a sustainable recruitment pool is available.
Whoa-whoa-whoa! ...You're telling me that there are people who genuinely believe that there are no Space Wolves that have fallen to Chaos? Are these people also called 'lobotomy patients'?
My theory is that the Space Wolves managed to form a relationship with symbiotic warp entities, as opposed to predatory / parasitic chaos. When they take the helix it is a minor form of possession of one of these friendlier warp entities which gives them a resistance similar to the Exorcists. Already being partially possessed would lead to a resistance. Their success rates are not that dissimilar to the Exorcists either.
My impression of Raid Shadow Legends keeps getting better and better, i will never play the game, but they keep giving money to the creators i like watching. I remember the 13th Company reading about them in the White Dwarf back when i was still buying it. But that there is an outright Fallen Chapter of Wolves IS surprising. Especially that they ALL succumbed to Chaos. Having to deal with something like that jkust recently myself, i find the Blood Wolves´ reason for joining Khorne absolutely relatable and understandable.
Call or however you spell his name should’ve been able to create new tech and such, maybe even a suppressant for the gene seed defects. To wipe them out entirely makes now sense, as you then lose the one thing that gives them their humanity, that flaw
I find issue that it was only ONE person doing what the EMPEROR(50k years old or older) needed the entirety of Mars to do. Time isn't even a defence, this mo-fo did it in less than 3k years, he just had them in storage.... people that can't see the problem with cawl are the problem. Oh LETS TALK FLAWS, you do relise once you say a literal human can understand the gene seed you basically say tau can too, and so can the kabal, so can eldar,... do you see where I'm going with this, humanity has no tech, no warp, nothing, Cawl writing just made space marines for everyone and people are too blind to even see that.
Yeah, its just that we're putting new coversheets on all the TPS reports before they go out now Mr Spess Woof. So if you could go ahead and try to remember to do that from now on, that'd be great. All right! -Adeptus Administratum

Arch do the salamanders and raven guard have many chapters that's have fallen to chaos as I thought both of them have also not had many if any turn to chaos
I'll have to check, I think that was a wolf priest rather than rune one (former are the medical experts of the wolves after all!). While I understand the sentiment behind cawl hate (I've read the gathering storm, arks of omen did it way better), some do appreciate the new stuff(personally I like the armor and guns, vehicles are hit-or-miss), especially how you can have successor chapters of russ' lineage (might be low-key reason why magnus stood in papa smurf's way). While we're at battle of the fang (great novel of a big series), I'm kinda curious, if not destroyed by magnus, how "the tempering"(as was the project called) would have been (primaris project before primaris, in a way).

Damn you Arch, I like your content so much that I didn't even skip Raid ad. Witness my sacrifice! ;)
They fell from the emperors light when offered scratches behind the ears and a “who’s a good boi? Who’s a good boi? Your the bestest boi! Yes you are, yes you are.”
You left some important parts out. There was Harald's wolf ship, with his wolf bed and wolf shower and wolf slippers and wolf pajamas
Then why do the Space Wolves not shun the wolf as a symbol of failure?
@@semi-useful5178 because they are softer than they let on. Because they turn into giant wolves and not abominations like the poor thousand sons that succumb to the flesh change. They accept them as fellow comrades and honored companions
That is so lame.
@@notinspectorgadget
Yes it is.
I would rather it be a Wolf Priest gave some Fenresian Great Wolves the Canis Helix and made Astarties Wolves.
1 Day ask Arch for Dragon Warriors aka Salamanders Traitors Marines
You forgot the Red Wolves who are a part of the Red Corsairs.
13:36 So in other terms we prevented more furries to spwn into the 40K universe. Youre welcome.
No, bad boy. Bad.
No treat for you
Idea: imperial armor on the sentinel bipedal scout walker with its uses, strategies and variants.
40K At-rt but better.
I like the part where Arch says wolf.
I like how the two Primarchs who hated Psykers were massive hypocrites.
@@robertnelson9599who was the other?
Mortarion of the Death Guard
come now arch,
you know better than that.
Russ did NOT have a pair of wolves.
The wolves had a Russ of their own.
Take a shot every time Arch says wolf in this and you'll be dead in 7:32 minutes.
Another Arch W40k lore video... perfect match with Friday. *opens cold one*
Wolf Wolf Wolf Wolf, yiff "no, bolter shoots".
I don't know this could legitimately be a bad drinking game but take a drink every time he says the word wolf
"All I got from that was wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf and wolf."
_BAD DOG!_
Bureaucracy the missing 5th god of chaos.
Couldn't help but do the logistics on the fellblade arch... And we love you for it. 😂
Cool video, and whoever did the blood wolves conversions did a great job of it 👌🏻
The Red Wolves, a Red Corsair warband, consisting of several space wolves who swore allegiance to Huron Blackheart and the red corsairs after the strike cruiser Wolf of Fenris was boarded.
I believe in you
Honestly I saw this and thought at first it was one of the next theory videos like loyalist Konrad and Pertarobo.
Idea: Origin Switch Up
Choose one loyalist Primarch and one traitor. Roll a D20, and that Primarch starts on that planet rather than his original. If you roll the planet he came from or roll a planet twice over, roll again. If a 2 or 11 is rolled, that Primarch has become a lost Primarch and be replaced by a fanfic one.
The laughing god actually did swap where two of big Es kids were gonna go
Using RNG to determine your path? You reek of Tzeentch
Edit: misread the prompt and I rolled for all of them. Oh well.
Parentheses is original Primarch:
The Lion: Wherever Alpharius Omegon came from.
Fulgrim: Baal (Sanguinius)
Perturabo: Lost, replacing him with XI Primarch Kalib Kraad from Imperium Ascendant, famous for becoming Malal and his legion eating entire planetary populations. Homeworld: The Labyrinth, current headquarters of the Sons of Malice.
The Khan: Macragge (Rowboat Girlyman)
Russ: Nocturne (Vulkan)
Dorn: Deliverance (Corax)
Curze: Nuceria (God Emperor help us and "home" of Angron)
Sanguinius: Chemos (Fulgrim)
Ferrus Manus: Barbarus (Mortarion)
Angron: Nostramo (now this I would love to see as it is where Curze is from)
Guilliman: Medusa (Manus)
Mortarion: Cthonia (Horus)
Magnus: Chogoris (Khan)
Horus: Fenris (Russ)
Lorgar: Inwit (Dorn)
Vulkan: Colchis (Lorgar)
Corax: Caliban (Lion)
Alpharius: Olympia (settled that one with a coin toss otherwise I would be rolling a d20 forever, home of Perturabo).
Not the most insane heresy I suppose.
@@elysiankentarchy1531Alpharius never left Terra
That just mean The Lion stays on Terra instead of Alpharius 😹 @@DaniMol
Is fascinating about chaos Space Wolves exist. 🐺😈
Imagine if they would have stayed with vikings theme and not make everything a wolf.
The galaxy is completely yiffed now.
Only if the chaos wolfies start worshipping slaanesh.

the fact that there's now some vague grounding for those things horrifies me.@@Nobody32990
My favourite Space wolves. Thank you Arch for the Heresy. It warms my dead soul. 🖤
Whoa-whoa-whoa!
...You're telling me that there are people who genuinely believe that there are no Space Wolves that have fallen to Chaos? Are these people also called 'lobotomy patients'?
Russ: "There's no doubt Magnus' and his legion were steeped in maleficarum! Just look at how they turn into terrible monsters!"
Space Wolves:
Plus the few space wolves that turned on thier brothers when huron black heart took their vessel! 😀
Man's once Treasured friends
Blood Wolves certainly had a point
Bunch of bad doggos 😂
In the depths of the eye, they met *Russ*
And for some reason, became a Chaos Warband after that.
27:10 thats a lot of wolves
17:36 now thats a tank . they should find the stc for thos and mass produce it.
Finally, after all these years of waiting!
So magnus finally did something right near the nightmare of infinite space wolf’s sounds like a nightmare
The wolfy wolves fought the wolf like blood wolves with wolves............WOLF!!!
Yeah, its just that we're putting new coversheets on all the TPS reports before they go out now Mr Spess Woof. So if you could go ahead and try to remember to do that from now on, that'd be great. All right!
-Adeptus Administratum
play a drinking game where everytime the word wolf is mentioned when speaking about space wolves, you take a shot.......the result: *drunken wolf howls*
Honestly waiting to find out these guys are who Russ has been with this whole time. Honestly how much of a plot twist would that be plus the Lion would probably start shitting bricks at the thought that his rival is demonic
So the Blood Wolfs are what happens, when you ask space marines to get the Permit A 38.
"Furry hand grenade" - I lost it.
Are you sure they're not Digganobz?
Cawl used his Alpha Legion benefactors to hide his research.
Traitorous sons of Russ, I will use the ancient words to cast you back into the void! "Bad dog! Bad dog! That's a very bad dog!" :p
Let me guess, they were asked to do their taxes and they had to hire a financial advisor with a tentacle face. No wonder they fell to Chaos.
This video is heresy and I need to talk to you out back behind the barn for just a moment. No no, you go first I'll follow right behind.

I read to my girlfriend about Skyrar's Wolves the other day, and then your video comes! An unexpected surprise, but a welcomed one!
I read the battle of the fang, really good book. I highly recommend it right up there with legion of the damn, and hellsreach.
