Most are not practical or efficient, but they are great learning devices. I once showed my nephew how to build a speaker from a margarine container some wire and ordinary paper. Sound was poor, but it worked and it was great fun for him.

So... How much water seeped between the motor shaft and housing? This is not the proper type of motor to use but if you need a short term pump, this will get the job done.
