I bet the sleeping quarters compare with life in the earlier British navy. I think sailors had a hammock space and not much more. Interesting stuff. Amazing that it hasn't all been swiped for local cottage improvements.
Yeah, as long as the soldiers had a place to sleep they were probably doing quite well. And I suspect it was sheer dumb luck it wasn't built over. Probably a lot of it was built over, but that there is this, the amphitheatre and the baths in such close proximity is quite something.

Must get my toga out, and Liz Adams it's the Royal Navy, being ex myself :) Though no hammocks in my time.
I would have liked to have seen them try to wear a toga over here. There would have been a lot of wet toga contests 😂
