Hi Kev, Thankyou for a very simple and informative video. Your explanation with your demonstration helps immensely. Made my first failure yesterday, then watched your demo and had my first home made perfect flat white / latte today 🤣🤣 thankyou.
Thank you so much for this! Very helpful! I just purchased this one from Sur La Table on Saturday. Love it! Still learning. This is wonderful and I’m grateful for your helpful videos. 🙂☕️💚
Got my Impress today and your videos have helped loads with the dialing in and steaming. Looking forward to more of your stuff as I get into my new hobby. Would love to see some videos on daily maintenance/cleaning. Those Gaggia cups are very nice. What are those espresso glasses called?
Thank you for your videos. I wasn’t quite understanding the difference in technique between cappuccino and flat white in terms of “stretching”. What is it that stretches , putting the wand deeper or steaming for longer ?
Kev, or anyone who can help....how do you keep the espresso hot while doing the milk? I’ve tried pre-warming the cup before making the espresso and don’t take too long to do the milk but the end result is only just above lukewarm. Thank you in advance!
I wouldn't say better as such, it depends on the user really, the main difference other than this being an integrated grinder machine is that this is an assisted machine, so I'd say it's a better option than the Bambino plus and a stand alone grinder for someone who wants/needs the assistance. There are other pros and cons for both, the bambino plus has the newer thermojet heater so steam ready is a bit faster, steaming time is a bit faster (4 hole tip too on the bambino plus), the impress express has adjustable temp which the bambino plus doesn't. Cheers, Kev
I run a Barista Pro with integrated grinder. I learnt that you shouldn't leave beans in the hopper really as they go stale quickly (unless you are a big user). So I weigh the beans each time and so the hopper never really has any beans in it as you use everything you put in. That means if I want to switch between caf and decaf it is just the grind size that would need adjusting.
Why my coffee machine make loud noise like everything shake inside and not sure what is I just check but is so loud only when is brave my coffee why is this
Hi do you think this machine would be a better option then my gaggia classic and eureka mignon grinder as I can never get the same extraction time twice or maybe get a better grinder like the niche
Drawn between this and the Delonghi Prestigio. The latter has two heat systems and slightly more bar pressure do these offer any noticeable benefit over this unit?
Hi Kev, i got the machine yesterday and thanks yo your discount code. My expresso is very foamy but not glossy. Can you tell me what grind size u used in this video for flag white and cappuccino
@@markskilbeck I actually phoned Sage and spoke to the technicians , and the shot time is from pressing the button , until the pressure /flow stops… so includes pre infusion. Hope this helps others
It's really grown on me over the past few months, I find cows milk tastes weird now. Its just a tad sweeter than cows milk and a bit creamier. I'd recommend trying loads of different brands as they all taste slightly different. I really like the Momma one
Hey there, new to your channel. I’ve just gotten this machine. I only tried to pull shots a couple of times and both times were disaster. I’m using lavazza beans not the local roaster. I am finding it hard to find the right grind size. It’s dark roast. I tried no. 6 but turned out too bitter. Then tried no.9 and it was watery. I was going to try again to set it this weekend. Any advise? I think it’s tricky to find the right grind setting. Not sure if the machine gets confused if you take out the portafilter after dosing then put back in to tamp. I also wanted to try distribtuin and ordered a small funnel but it may not fit into the tray. Anyway, sorry for the lengthy note here. Obviously new to espresso making but excited to actually do it after watching too many videos!
I just don't understand who this machine is aimed at. It's got the assisted tamping which indicates it's meant for people getting into portafilter handling but at the same time is having a fully manual steam wand? Other machines in the range got it the other way around with the Touch or Bambino Plus, where the milk is automatic but puck prep is fully manual. The only machines which do both is the Oracles. So why not both? If you truly require help for the puck then are you really to be left on your own devices when it comes to milk? This is a very oddly positioned product...
I would also like to get what you describe. A machine with parallel automatic milk heating. And an additional button for Americano that fills hot water automatical too.
How do I stop my coffee tasting bitter? Just got my machine this week. Followed your videos and have the grind changed down to 4 with coffee time at 29 seconds total for extraction. Roughly 3:1 extraction as factory settings. Admittedly using shop bought beans just for now as I get used to it. Will it just be the beans and fresh beans make all the difference? Was going to order your chocolate brownie blend beans off coffee works would they be good for a flat white coffee?
Hi James, I use the Chocolate Brownie Blend for my flat whites its delicious, Have a watch of this blog post about sour or bitter espresso, hopefully this will help you:ruclips.net/video/AjJ7mgN-oxo/видео.html Cheers Kev
@@Coffee_Kev thank you for a quick response. Ordered a kilo of the chocolate brownie beans last night so I’ll give them a go and try and figure it out. Thanks for all the videos have been really helpful figuring out what to do as a beginner!
Love your videos thank you. I’m deciding between the express impress and the bambino plus with a separate grinder and wondering which you’d recommend? I’m not too worried about losing the full ‘barista experience’ but do like the idea of the auto milk steaming on the bambino plus. although I think this is outweighs by the assisted tamping on this machine. Are there any other considerations I’m missing? Thank you!
Hi Trevor, Obviously the amount of milk you are steaming will determine how long it will take, the more milk in the jug the longer it will take. Cheers Kev

Can you compare the puck of the oracle withe the one of the impress after tamping please? And could you maybe show an Americano too? Is it necessary to switch the hot water on and off manually or is there an automatic function for this?

Appreciate the video. Coffee looks great but I wish you would have provided a bit more detail on the milk preparation like how much to use etc.

Great video, how long do you take to inject air for flat white?
Great video, just bought one of these based on your reviews. What volume of shot did you pull for these drinks?
Thanks Stuart. Approx 36g from an 18g dose.
Glad this question was asked my double shot isn't a double shot at all can get it to increase the volume in my ahot

Hi Finnian,
I will add this to my list to film.

Can you set the expresso up but steam the milk first? Then press start on the expresso as your swishing the milk around after steaming?
Coffee kev - can you show us how to do a single shot using this machine?
I will add that to my list AJ
Thanks, Kev. Is this machine much better than the Bambino Plus in your opinion in terms of espresso extraction and milk steaming?

Hi Kev, can you remove hopper with beans in place, if you wanted to for instance put decaf beans in?
I run a Barista Pro with integrated grinder. I learnt that you shouldn't leave beans in the hopper really as they go stale quickly (unless you are a big user). How does the dose setting go when swapping from double shot to single shot?
when i try to steam my oat milk it looks good but after pouring it in it looks like your old school cappucino :(
can you tell me grind size?
Hi Kev, do you happen to know when Sage are bringing out the Barista Touch Impress in the UK? Thanks
Hi Ann,
I don't think it will be too long ;-)
Hi Kev - quick question: why do you use the ‘2 cup’ button for the espresso when only making 1 cup? Thanks
the cups mean shots of espresso so maybe they probably want two shots so there is more volume
The instruction manual says that the ideal shot time is 25-30 seconds - does this INCLUDE preinfusion time?
Had the same question. From what I’ve read, the answer is yes: shot time starts from the second the water hits the coffee.
@@markskilbeck I actually phoned Sage and spoke to the technicians , and the shot time is from pressing the button , until the pressure /flow stops… so includes pre infusion. Hope this helps others
Can you steam milk at the same time as pulling your espresso?
Hi Paul,
No, you can only do that on the dual boiler machines, you have to do it separately on machines like the impress.
Cheers
Kev
Great video Kev!
Would be interesting to see how the Impress compares to the Barista pro?

Hi Kev, Would you know if this machine would heat the milk in a 600 ml jug? I ask as a comment on an online shop says it won’t…

Obviously the amount of milk you are steaming will determine how long it will take, the more milk in the jug the longer it will take.
