Something really clever I realized afterwards was if he wanted to, ryoma could of stop or had been able avoid kiryumi from killing him, think about he managed to out run gonta the physically strongest person there and he managed to escape his grasp. Everyone else who escaped Gonta had to use their wits, but ryoma straight up just out ran him. Kiryumi wouldn't have been able to kill him especially after blowing away her cover if he hadn't allowed her.
@Miss Misery Yeah, although struggling when drowning is most likely due to basic human instinct. He might have wanted to live, sure, but he physically HAD to resist because of instinct.
@Miss Misery Anyone would struggle, not even due to instict..drowning is one of the most painful deaths. What Kirumi chose (to kill him with drowning while also in handcuffs) was a cruel cruel death.
@@fredericksaxton9782 right, its why kirumi is one of my most hated characters, that sounds rlly harsh but kirumi could have given ryoma more mercy. ryoma wanted to die, not suffer and be tortured.
I find it a little amusing that, as far as the dub goes, the same actor goes from voicing a guy who encourages his friends to never give up on life, to a guy who has very clearly given up on life. Ryoma wouldn't be the first instance of a character defying expectations by dying early on. Kiyotaka and Hiyoko had something like that too, where you think they might be starting to devel- Oops they're dead. Though I'll say Ryoma's case is better woven into the overall motif of the story.
Taka and Hiyoko’s resolutions were cut off early with zero explanation. It made a bit more sense for Taka due to Hifumi having a conflict with him over alter ego, but Hiyoko was just starting to forgive Fuyuhiko, but they wanted to tie to first and second game together so, they had to kill two characters. Ryoma is an exception though. The game tells you that characters don’t always resolve in the series with a REAL explanation, showing his motive. Ryoma is a top 3 character for me in this series, I love how they handled his death. It’s so sad, but it definitely let’s you know not all people have their happy endings.
Ryoma is probably my favorite v3 character, also just too make it worse Kirumi choose drowning which from what i heard is one of the most painfulest deaths, come on Kirumi the poor guy offers himself up to you and your the ultimate maid couldn't you have finished him off quickly.
Well in order to make the death less obvious and tie it to the piranha tank, she wanted to do that. But during the class trial, they caught on eventually. It is tragic that my man had to go through that.
@@beorge7925 The body was going to be destroyed either way. If dhe was gonna hit him anyway she should've just bashed in his head completely, in the sink, and washed off the blood. I dont think he was expecting to drown. He turned his back on Kirumi in the tennis court and was likely expecting her to quickly stab him or hit him over the head. I'm sure anyone would be shocked and struggle if they blacked out then woke up to suddenly drowning.
I would say Ryoma is the most saddest character I have ever seen in fiction i may be exaggerating but he literally had no reason to live in his eyes and you could basically say he commited suicide.
Ryoma was cool, One theory I really liked about him is that he was actually the Ultimate Prisoner. Ryoma constantly mentions that he no longer plays tennis and that the title Ultimate tennis player no longer fits him. I think at one point during the 2nd investigation Shuichi brings up the idea of Ryoma actually being the ultimate prisoner after examining the handcuff's and going to the prison room in his lab.
what distractionism is true, but we're no strangers to characters having multiple talents. so there's a possibility that he was also assigned the ultimate prisoner talent.

Finally a video on my boi! I love Ryoma so much and found his character to be so refreshing, although really sad as well. He's such a good representation of what depression feels like, an almost painfully realistic one. Having someone come and be nice and supportive of him like Shuichi did didn't magically make his depression go away and I love that.
I think Ryoma was made as a dark version of Prince of Tennis since he got the same name with the mc also his friend event conversations include alot of Prince of Tennis reference. In the Prince of Tennis Ryoma was an antisocial that do whatever he wants but his friends on the club patience to understand him finally make him more sociable maybe this V3 Ryoma not as lucky.
