Today we will be walking through a covert theft with out disabling the alarms.

Unless you're planning on entering other buildings after you retrieve the item you should clear the profile immediately after exiting the building. Everyone should have that bound to a key now. As long as the item you're taking isn't marked as a theft (red justice scales on your HUD) and as long as you don't have a cloned profile as far as the guards are concerned you're clean as freshly fallen snow.

Great vid commander, Today I Learned that once you get the clearance needed the locker codes appear in the interact menu! Never realized it. I used to just memorize them from terminals :p
I did that for a few weeks too at the start lol

Yeah I didn't know that either. Long-time E:D player, but only about 15 or so hours in Odyssey so far. Came back to it about 2 months ago after my 'butt-hurt' hiatus over console cancellation 🤣

A textbook covert op. Thanks, I needed to see this. I just started playing elite again after many years and never played odyssey. All I ever see is videos of people fully engineered and fully kitted out taking out everyone and waltzing right on in. Thumbs up.

What does "tagging the guards" mean exactly?
Visual scanning "not the ID Scanning tool" when you look at a guard and you see the information on them , they are then permanently "for the instance life" flagged so they will show on the min map when in range , this works well with enhanced tracking to boost the scanning distance.
Disabling the alarms is not without risk but eventually pays off always.
I love stealth games, and i was surprised to see good stealth mechanics in space sim.
yeah its not really what the community would have asked for i guess but it added a whole new level to the game, for me it was fantastic because i expected nothing

how do you clone bro'..??.. pressing what? where do you find the settings to bind the key..??.. that's what I was hoping to find as a newbie from your guide... it's not so self-intuitive as we all know... (or I'm just dumb)
The Id clone is a sub function of the bounty scanner , like the energy link you can switch its mode by pressing R , or setting a new key binding for it for one that is more user friendly, both devices when in this sub mode will make NPC's hostile if seen , so remember to time the targets walk path.
@@StewiePlaysPC aha thanks for following up with me on this, that's what I need I didn't know the R will switch to clone scanning... I'm really new barely have it for about 3 days with less than 20 hrs combined... but I'm learning about everything... thanks again...
The illegal setting for the power tool can not only overcharge doors, locking them open, but can also kill an NPC who isn’t shielded. Makes less noise than a weapon too.
@@Wyrnikh good to know...so it works like a stunt gun...but I assume will use more energy and so might need to recharge it sooner...
So in other words, don't steal guard IDs because they'll sense it.
Hi Flamethrower82 , you can take a guards iD but most are 0-1 access unless its a team that is deployed due to a settlement's alarm's being tripped. Just remember to have a fast key set so you can clear the stolen iD if a guard is about to scan you as the fixed the exploit of jumping up and boosting out of range to stop the scan, the guard just opens fire at that point lol.

do you always take shuttles om these missions or use own ship?
Hi Jadonx, It would depend on whats going on in my house and if I have a string of missions stacked , if just one or two missions , I would fly in my asp, but if i have say 6-7 stacked or my kids are awake I would use an Apex shuttle.
@@StewiePlaysPC hi, thanks for the reply..I have completed some easy missions but I have failed some and end up locked up somewhere, I then have to get the shuttle back just to retrieve ship from a planet where I failed the mission lol. I think I will just learn with shuttles then.
@@jadonx I think they've addressed this, as the last two times I've failed a mission, my ship was at the same station where I was incarcerated instead of being left on the landing pad and sending itself to orbit.
Quite helpful. However, I always run into guards inside the building after I access the building with a cloned profile. There's nowhere to run or hide, and you can't scan the guards who are already inside.
Hi Cogitovision , Guards can be annoying in a non anarchy faction settlement , they can be tricky to scan but they do have a set pattern , as long as you don't jump run ect NPC's will lose focus on you and return preset walk loops. in a lot of missions once inside you can drop the id as it was only needed to get inside the main door and they are not needed to exit a building . But once in a while you do get the annoying short loop walking paths with 2-3 NPC's crossing over the same area.
how to tag the guards?
To tag the guards you need to look at them so the name and security level shows , at that point they are logged and the radar will remember them, the enhanced tracking mod not only boosts the distance you can do this , it is also instant.
