On the backpack rain cover. I have hiked in the rain many times with a rain cover on it will only keep your pack dry for so long. What I like to do is put a contractor grade garbage bag in the pack first before I put any of my gear in you can twist the top shut guaranteeing your gear will not get wet

Keeping his torniquet on the inside of his bag is not logical; A torniquet is used to stop uncontrollable severe bleeding RIGHT NOW, not after you dropped your bag, opened it, digged it out and then eventually manage to find it, fold it out and strap it on.
We, (Royal Danish Army) in Iraq, had our torniquet on the outside of our gear, in a ziplock bag, on the front of our person, attached with a just strong enough rubber band, so that you could reach it with both hands, rip it off, open it with your teeth and then apply it, and we practiced using it several times.
And IFAK´s should be CLEARLY labelled with red and/or a cross, so you never have a chance of grabbing the wrong one, and someone is going to help you, they know exactly which bag to reach for.
Medical gear wise i would fail this guy.

      @@TheSurvivalOutpost Thank you.
I was the squad medic in my platoon, Jutland Dragoon Regiment, MECHINF, and i support your friends statement.
And i guess that your friend will agree with me, that you always use the persons own medical gear, with the medic only using his/her gear if that is faster or the poor person is out of what is needed.
Each persons IFAK was equipped to handle the more common injuries, with the medics bag being a "depot" for those things and he/she had the more "advanced" equipment/gear.
Each persons IFAK and each medics bags where totally standardised across the entire company, so each person knew exactly what gear was in which bag and even the placement in the bag itself was standardised.
That way, when the need came up, there where no fumbling for the gear needed and the medic could commandeer any soldier to help him/her because everything was standardised.

I'd give it a 6 at most. The problem with bug-out-bags or evacuation bags is the fact the person assumes something will be there to come back to.
Having had numerous hurricanes and one major (Isabel) behind me, I found many who bugged out or evacuated to higher ground might have had a house to come back to but most of their belongs were gone due to looters or raiders. So a foot of water in the house might have made it hard to live in, but it left most of their valuables (electronics, food, water or camping supplies) there for the taking. Boarded up houses were hit most and all safes were not overlooked but cracked or cut into.
The first night after Isabel passed, there were gunshots, screams, banging and other loud noises from houses in my area as people tried to loot or succeeded in it. A big tree had blocked one route and another had done the other way. Only two ways in and out so even Police/EMS/Fire weren't coming if you had a signal to your cell phone. Houses where people had left had been hit hard. It took a week for my area to get back power and cell towers. Some it took five to eight weeks.
So you must always remember if you bug out you might come back to nothing in most instances, especially in riots or gvt crackdowns. Thankfully, none of those for me yet.
Main thing is the bag you are getting home with, bugging out with, or caught out with might be all you have left. Take Care and Stay Safe, everyone.

Love both channels. An individual’s kit usually addresses the challenges that a person deems likely to face where they are or where they are going. That said, critiques are a great way for us to stay with or make changes to what we are doing. You made some great points. He said he would not be in an urban environment. Which given the items that he selected to use between a suburban environment and the woods a surprisingly unlikely combination. He definitely picked items I wouldn’t have picked. I think of my bug out bag as the bare minimum for any season. I run a Glock 19 with raised tritium night sights, tactical white light and a USA One Shot non NFA pistol brace. Which turns the pistol into a carbine in seconds. I would carry Glock mags not AR mags because a pistol is legal carry where I live. And a pistol is easy to conceal. Sometimes you don’t want to look like a threat sometimes you do. The $200 brace is compact, light weight and can fit in a daypack. The Sawyer water filter can screw onto a Smart water and other drink bottles. And pint to quart size roll up Sawyer or Platypus bladders can plus up water if needed and save space when not needed. 2 lighters, char tin and or small flint steel, or fero rod and magnesium bar ,and section of cotton clothesline dipped in melted wax, will give you both a short or long term solution. A 2 -3 metal cup with lid, ( GI or Esbit, and cultery , and hot and cold wets, ( including Gatorade and extra salt) is also essential. Compass. Rechargeable flashlight power bank combo. Back up Huntsman Victorinox pocket knife, whistle, and pepper spray, for humans and dogs. Cold steel shovel with a shortened handle and cordura sheath. To use as a baton for a non lethal threats and with sheath off for lethal threats. Food. Prepackaged jerky, Ramen, rice meals, cup of soup or Hot Choc mix, Jello mix, peanut butter crackers, trail mix, snickers candy bars or Cliff Bars, Jar of peanut or almond butter. I would pack mid layer thermals, a second boxer or nylon bathing suit, and 2 pairs of socks. For shelter: a nylon rain jacket, a military style poncho, klymitt air Matt, SOL bivy, SOL double sized Mylar sheet pinned to either a poncho liner or compact Summer 2 lb sleep bag, 2 black 55 gallon black plastic bags, and a blow up pillow. First aid and meds, and trauma kit.

If its natural disaster then you should have vehicles packed always
      Important in a carry safe
And gear bags always packed and never borrowed from .
If your bugging out from a make believe war then stay put but you must no your area . Sewers gas and water mains etc

Definitely miles better than Canadian Prepper’s bs bag. Personally, my main shtf bag is a Savotta Jaakari. Tougher than tough and no rain cover needed. I love that. I do like the clamshell design of the Kifaru Ma Deuce, but it’s nowhere near as tough as the Savotta. I think Tactical Tailor’s malice/Alice bags are amazing as well. As long as you use your gear and familiarize yourself with contents those outer pockets make a lot of sense. I believe the Nalgene controversy is likely plastic vs metal. Weight vs boilability. The new Grayl titanium is far and away the best bottle system I’ve seen.

Such as a small pry bar , a lindsman pliers ( for cutting fencing ) , and junior hacksaw plus spare blades , a leatherman multitool ( urban situation ) . In a rural environment , a stout knife , a folding saw , and a hatchet would be necessary . For cover l would add a light mylar tent , a light breathable mylar sleeping bag and a reusable space blanket plus extra cordage and titanium tent pegs . A small solid fuel stove is very portable and lightweight . I enjoyed your review . Thank you . Cheers

    You make a good critique.
There are so many videos on “my bug-out bag”. And I enjoy seeing what people think is necessary to carry for survival. I’ve been making bags and kits since I got out of the Corps in 1983. Back then we just called it camping 😉
Maybe it’s because I’m old, but I require more in the way of a sleep system. All my bags have some kind of bivy or tarp, as well as a military poncho.
And I have to have a metal container. Even if it’s just a canteen cup. I like old school military equipment.
He has a stove, but no container to cook on it.
That green nDur water filter in his grab-and-go bag is the bom-diggidy. I wish they still made them, I would have ten more.
Extra socks is a must… even if it’s just to replace wet ones. And you are absolutely right about foot care in the med kit. A foot problem is second only to a toothache in importance, if you have to keep moving.

I think again I have found a moment of eye-opening clarity. You hit the nail on the head when it comes to the whole question of defining what it means to "bug out" versus an evacuation.
For people in clandestine government work, the military or who travel abroad many have what they call a "bail out bag" which helps them to get out and away before anyone comes for them or tries to hold them against their will. That's a well-defined purpose.
The first question to consider is the situation or the scenario before us. Is it temporary like avoiding bad weather or caustic smoke or are you leaving because it's not safe to remain where you are. If you are avoiding an armed enemy, riots or some form of violence then you might need to move very fast, to hold up, to camp out or even to fight. Do you have transportation or looking for opportunities? Will you be able to resupply, eat, bath, shop on the way?
If people ask themselves a few questions then they won't have to guess what to put in their kit. In Black Scout Survival's bag, he had his magazines. Nothing unusual, but he sounded so "purposeful" meaning to me that he feels he needs them and I think that's the secret to building a kit. Experience also helps to decide what to pack, what works best for you and what doesn't.
That being said, it's wise to have the usual and most common items such as a lighter, ferro rod, knives, a bottle/bladder bag or combination, a water filter, etc. And it is NOT a crime to have a few items that you may not use. Many people carry "things" just in case they need them. It's not about failing to not pack exactly what you use, but ensuring your kit saves your butt.

Well said man and Jack nailed it with his skill set. The plastic Nalgene is regarding plastic lowering your testosterone levels. For me shelter is a military poncho, bivy bag, and tent stakes. Low visibility, layout flat/secure, and climb under. I love the Grayl but just switch out for the Lifestraw peak series with a Smartwater bottle. Lightweight and more packable on the go. First aid kit with moleskin a must especially with having a family. Also chafing cream for me because monkey butt sucks. I have several small survival/EDC kits on my person in a bug out situation. I also have the NRE’s plus a small alcohol stove to boil water for it. Having more water too for cooking freeze dried food is a must. I always keep a signaling kit in my packs for emergencies but yes in a bug out situation you want to be low key. The two items I keep with my get home/bug out bag is my Safe Life Defense body armor and my Parcel Respirator. With threats everywhere and different circumstances on what could happen any given day you never know. God bless y’all and stay vigilant!!!👍🏼🍻🥃👊🏼💯

Without food and a good night's sleep everything else is going to fall apart. The gadgets I leave at home. I never understood minimalist bug out kits. Unless you're trained to exist on sleeping on dirt floors and eating twigs for breakfast they don't do the average Joe much good. I can exist for three weeks near a water source with my kit making meals from my additional bag containing freeze dried meals/ protein powder/ amino acids/ electrolytes and vits. So since in the bag he shows ar mags inside they should be not in the main and should be on exterior or easier to get to .
Nalgene reference not sure but there a strong bottle can’t boil in it though . So since his load out is more urban hopefully that filter will remove contaminants.
This Load out to me is a basic edc gym bag and added pew pew for social media .
You are correct no wood processing or shelter making tools or dry bags for the pack internals .
Mylar blankets are horrible for bugging out because there stupid loud .

Especial escape and evade tools usally under or inside your American flag patch .

I love those video, it helps us have another point of vue on other youtuber bugout bag and help us understand you mentality and show us other option. I follow Black Scout Survival for a really long time and he has great advice on survival and escape and evasion tips an tricks this is why I still follow him but since a couple a years i got suck deep into conspiracy theory and he makes more video about that than anything else and I think this is why he got a lot less vues now when someone go Political or Religious this is where shit goes south. I am not on the same page on that with him but He is still THE Black scout survival so once in a while there is good tip and trick video who pop out so i am watching those. But none the less what i thing about is bug out bag, for me bug out bag is not a bag to go live of the land its a bag you grab quick to get out of your home in an emergency to go from one place to another, so my mentality is it need to be ready and have at least a change of clothes with it, in it or on it and people the show that often, the reason is simple we sleep for about 6-8 hours a day what happen if you get an emergency in that time, or if you are relaxing listening a movie in pyjamas or if you are in the pool or in the shower and you need to go quick. Secondly, only 1liter of water, what a remember of Black scout survival videos is half the year he is drench in sweat in every video he makes that mean he live in a really hot environment so water should be a priority so at least a 2 or 3 liter bladder because I hike a lot and our summers here are hot and winter are freezing and you need a lot of water in all those situation when you are walking 2-5- 10 miles, I gess he would stop every hour to fill is bottle but you can't take that time in bug out situation. 3rd is food, the one he use is cool its easy to eat on the go but if I need to walk all day ( He probably think he is going to do that because he pack a water filter and 2 NREs), I will need a break and in my break i need more than proteine powder and energy bars, So I will probably swap one NRE pour one of my favorite MRE for moral boost of a real meal. 4th is emergency stuff is in the main pouch under other stuff like Magazine velcro in the the main compartment, tourniquet and medical stuff burry under other stuff and ditch pouch in the main compartment my ditch pack is strap on my back not in it or at least in a quick access pocket outside the main compartment its a Ditch pouch lol when you need to ditch your main pack you wont have time to but down the pack open it search in it and get the pouch you want quick access to it. I love the fact that he have a smaller backpack not like Canadian prepper with is 60l back pack who is going to carry that for 10-15 milles even thru hiker have small and light pack and gear and they pretty much live out of their pack for days. I hope he pack money in is pack because if there is a power outage when you get out and you need to buy something cards wont be useful. It sums up what I saw for the video ahahah. Great job Love almost all your videos, maybe next one could be with hardcore military guys like Garand Thumbs ( I now he made one but its maybe out of date) or maybe The Gray bearded Green beret, Ranger survival and field craft or Coporal corner. Maybe a more bushcraft oriented Channel like Dave Canterbury, Survival lily, Jason Sallier from ON Three and survival dispatch. If someone is speaking french I suggest Vol_west he is a french who moved in the US in the 90s and now he live in Montana I love is mentality He use too make more video but survivalism and prepping is a controversial subject so he took a break and got back to it couple of years back and now he still do some video but mainly lives!

Its a two parter. The first details his gear (minus his bike and its equipment):
    ruclips.net/video/oAS_FzFFz40/видео.html
The second is him doing his bugout out of the city on his bike, it is also a bit of a plug for the bike hes riding but, its a nice bike. ruclips.net/video/YSjl8bjWW6k/видео.html
Also maybe ranger survival and field craft. I believe Andrew is currently a SERE instructor. He has a lot of different bugout bags, so maybe choose one.

The deal with the Nalgene is its plastic and while you drink from it that plastic is ingested, once in the body that plastic mimics estrogen which for men could cause unwanted side effects. Now would one plastic bottle really harm you that much? Probably not, but with everything being plastic these days its being taken in everyday all day for most people. Something else I've noticed that never gets talked about ever.....why are people constantly training for GWAT? If minute men are ever required i don't think it will be a GWAT scenario for the defenders, guerilla tactics are what people should be practicing and training imo. Many of these internet people think thats how its going to be and that's simply not true, sure the invading force would use GWAT style tactics but the defending force would HAVE to resort to guerilla tactics like in Vietnam, Afghanistan, etc. Im no military professional or anything but this should be obvious I would think, many are looking with the wrong perspective and therefore probably don't stand much of a chance. I'm interested to know what you think about this and are people doing it wrong?

There are way to many videos of dudes all kitted up head to toe on the flat range thinking theyre some kinda of B A 🤣, which in reality if its against the most likely adversary they would literally be loot drops for the dudes doing it right. This also makes me wonder if its intentional so future potential events will be squashed quickly, or perhaps its just the training they had before/during GWAT that stuck with them, which isn't useless of course but it may not be properly focused for the trajectory we're headed. These minuteman videos really do get alot of views (obviously I watch them too 🤣) but no one is really talking about that, I know you have experience in such things and aren't afraid to ruffle a few feathers lol so maybe if you felt it appropriate a video on this topic would be of value to the community. Everybody lives in a different environment..... And so the needs differ a lot. What only very few people on yt show is a family bugout.... Bag or bags. Because then the needs differ a whole lot. And most people only prep for 72 hours and then your saved.... Ok that's mostly thru. Only you don't know before what's going to happen. Is it local..... Or is it nationwide. When it's nationwide then forget anything about 72 hours. Then we talk about years. And it's possible because many thousands of people lived for years in tents in the great depression. But that's also lacking with most bugout bags. A tent. Most people only have a tarp.

Well, I think he’s missing a few things but I guess it depends on how much you can embrace the suck. I used to subscribe to him but he seems full of himself. Not a fan. It’s interesting all these “preppers” and survivalists all look almost identical. Tight ball cap, sunglasses, and a beard. I could pick them out pretty easy. And they all claim to be special forces of some sort. They stick out like a sore thumb, I’d follow them at a distance. I know this will get some comments but hey, just my opinion.

8:30 On his "PERSON" 😮 Wouldn't it be prudent to not use the word PERSON? Would it not be better to say on his body or just on him? There are many dictionaries with different definitions and can't some of those definitions be detrimental to you? Is it not true that the authorities use legalese/jargon that looks like English and sounds like English but it is their own language that non members/public cannot read or understand and this language can't it be used to trick us into entering contracts and jurisdictions that are not in our favor? Is it not also true that in court they could refer to you as a person 25 times in one sentence and they are actually using 25 different definitions of person without you being aware? Can a corporation be a person? Are you the legal person? Are you a living person? What is a person? Why not get old editions of Black's Law dictionaries and decode official documents to learn their languages, as couldn't it be a great survival tool?

I really don't understand this idea of "bugging out". Why would you want to leave your home and why would you stay outside? A lot of "preppers" talk about going out in the woods and talk about war scnearios. I'm in the military and guess where we go to fight. The woods! Guess what we look for when we hunt the enemy. Traces of someone being there (broken branches, disturbed earth). Everybody is talking about purifying water by boiling and staying warm "bugging out" but guess another thing we look for! Smoke and smell of smoke! This whole idea of bugging out is pretty stupid in real life and will most likely get you killed. The guys that want to bug out all have this cool tactical gear but guess what that makes me do? It makes me not think twice about shooting you because you look military! I'm not going to stop and ask who you are. If I see some military attire and you're not wearing our colours then you're wearing the enemy's and absolutely no one is going to take a chance even if it ends up in friendly fire. A lot of "survival guys" have these fantasies that are so far from reality and I just don't understand the reasoning behind it.

ideally you stay hunkered down at home and only leave if you have a destination in mind.
