I like marking my quilts with disappearing ink but good stencils are hard to find. Now I can make my own stencils. Perfect!

At the beginning of the video, she mentions the ink smearing on the transparency film. this is simply because she is using the wrong type of transparency film for the type of printer/copier. The film she has is for copiers and laserjet printers. For an inkjet printer, you need transparency film made for inkjets.

    Hi Carol,
A stencil burner is a tool that you can get at Micheal's or other craft stores that gets really hot, has a very fine tip and you can burn plastics pretty easy with it. I have used it to burn the lines in a stencil I want to trace or I used it when i have embroidered on a polyester tulle to make a stand alone embroidery...just a handy tool to have :).If you go to my blog post will see me using a stencil burner in an old post. www.thequiltjournal.com/review-of-full-line-quilt-stencils-and-pounce/
By the way- I would have replied to you personally, but linked comments prevent that (usually means you are viewing via google+)

I'm going to try using cinnamon when I need to mark on a white or light fabric. That's what our foremothers used! LOL! Also, they used cornstarch on darker fabrics.

      Hi Nancy,
I have never used corn starch to mark my quilt, so I can't speak as to whether it will stay put as a sit-down quilter and not rub off easily .One other caution I will give you with corn starch- you will need to wash the quilt when done. Critters like silver fish are attracted to starch and can do great damage, whether in the spray form for ironing or for marking quilts. Not a big deal to me as I usually wash a quilt when finished anyway- but for some quilts it may be. I have to add that I have never used cinnamon either as I have heard of folks complain that it stained. Let me know if you use the cinnamon with good success- if nothing else your quilt will smell yummy! :)

You could use those copier transparencies at a copy shop. Our Fedex/Kinkos charges $.07 per copy.

Would you recommend Fine Line Stencil Magc for hand quilting? I need the markings to stay on the quilt top throughout the manipulation of the fabric during the quilting process. Also, is the product made of non-toxic materials? Thank you.

I use a Pounce Pad for stenciling...Lot easier and it irons right off

If it works for you, great! A lot of stand up quilters love it- but for me as a sit down quilter, I find that with all the stuffing I do to a quilt to get it under the throat plate, the pounce just doesn't hold up....just my opinion. I am glad if you have a product that works for you!
      thanks for watching

I'm not sure why you can't see the markings for the pumpkin after applying the Stencil Magic- when I replayed/ checked the video on my computer it is very clear/ obvious after the product was applied.

Hi, I don't know why it isn't loading for you. The video is a little over 9 minutes long and plays okay when I checked the RUclips site. Maybe the site was temporarily down??
