  • Sydney is a former city and urban community on the east coast of Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, Canada.
A rapid population expansion occurred just after the turn of the 20th century, when Sydney became home to one of North America's main steel mills, fed by the numerous coal mines in the area . During both the First and Second World Wars, it was a major staging area for England-bound convoys. The post-war period witnessed a major decline in the number of people employed at the Dominion Steel and Coal Corporation steel mill, The city's population has steadily decreased since the early 1970s due to the plant's misfortunes, and SYSCO was finally closed in 2001. Today, the main industries are in customer support call centres and tourism
We spent a lot of time viewing, & buying, local arts & crafts, from the many stalls in the huge pavilion near the dock. This was very convenient.
We participated in a Lobster Boil lunch. Unfortunately we were not advised that this was not under cover, & a lot of people ended up looking like lobsters in the very warm conditions. We had a local artist singing local folk tunes during lunch
Other music is from RUclips Audio Library:
    Among the Stars Everet Almond
    Beckoning Telecasted
    Big Sky Elegy National Sweetheart
    Blue Dream Cheel
