Always love your opinions and the thought and reason you put into your conversations, Justin. I absolutely agree that the flanker game is 100% a cash grab but in the case of Code EDP I’m ok with it. I wore Code EDT when it first came out and I loved it (very little experience with fragrances and many compliments contributed) so it’s always been a cherished scent for me. Flash forward to today and knowing that current formulations are anemic, I find it refreshing that I can get the EDP version for cheaper than “vintage” bottles and get my nostalgia and basic bro vibe on again. These companies are going to do the reformulation shuffle regardless of how much it infuriates us all but I’m glad that sometimes they’ll give us back what we’ve been screaming for. I suppose that makes me a bit of a sheep in the fragrance game but I’ll also never pay full retail for most fragrances so I guess we all play the game to win?
Absolutely HERE for all of your unique perspectives and refreshing content bro! Cheers to you and hope wedding planning is going well!

Justin I just purchased my 30th bottle of cologne, I'm starting to call it fragrance ever since I've been watching these RUclips videos LOL, but I'm from South Baltimore and we never called a fragrance. Anyway not just Bond. #9 we as consumers of fragrances, We should band together and step up to all these houses, and tell them to stop watering down their fragrances, Putting them in a "artistic" bottle which frankly I could care a less about . Just make the cologne nice , and last. Anyway great video. You always explain things from the common man's point of view, and I really appreciate that. I usually don't like skits, but yours are hilarious man. Keep it up your success will continue.

Glad I'm not the only one that thinks Dior Homme intense 2020 is trash. I wore it the first day I got it in and the opening smelled much more muted than I remembered. The dry down was a very light woody aroma but was very much a soft skin scent that only lasted 2 to three hours on my skin which is crazy because a decant I had a long time ago of it was so beast on my skin. If a fragrance doesn't last at least 4 hours on me I don't keep it around. Needless to say I posted the 2020 bottle on ebay and it sold for a fair price. I'm still trying to hunt down a retro formulation.

Awesome video, I really enjoy the content you put out. One of the things i love about fragrances is how subjective and personal it can be and how skin chemistry can effect the fragrance. I couldn't agree more regarding what they are doing with designer flankers. So glad to see I was not alone in how I feel about Bond fragrances too. I haven't had any experience with Dior Homme Intense prior to 2018 but to me the 2020 version seems pretty consistent in scent, longevity and projection to 2018. I actually really enjoy DHI and probably get 7 or 8 hours before it's a total skin scent but during the entire life of the fragrance it has a creamy sweet chocolate thing going on.

Another alternative to Bond No 9 Lafayette Street is Nikos Sculpture which you can find online for 20 bucks. Tried Lafayette St on skin at Saks 5th Ave one day and as I was walking out the store I kept thinking how it smells familiar then it dawned on me that it's exactly like that $20 Nikos that I added to my collection for a few months prior. Lafayette Street is basically a more expensive clone......$300+ more expensive.

Great concept! I had a similar experience with the new DHI. It had lovely cacao note when i tested it at the dept store (and it was definitely the new bottle tester they had!) but after I bought it, I was so disappointed that it was just a boring concoction of "bluey" citrus and iris. Don't quite know what changed, as I tested it on paper as well as skin.

    I don't like Halloween Man X
I fell for the hype and bought it from fragranceX and was so excited to smell this. I was most excited about the coffee and leather that everyone was talking about.
When I got it I was immediately disappointed. It's the 1st fragrance that I've ever smelled that I actually thought smelled bad. I have no idea if I got a bad batch or if it's just my skin, but it legit smells like an old balloon in a hot stanky ass plastic tube from the McDonald's play place. It smells like spoiled rubber. I tried to give it a fair shot, But because the fragrance does perform so good, it just appalls my nose. I've only heard a few other people say they don't like it. Has anybody else experience the similar thing?

I've only tried and sampled one fragrance from Bond no. 9, Greenwich Village...and I find it absolutely beautiful. That being said, it does remind me a little of another fragrance I've worn before. It's been my signature for quite some time and I'm itching to try new things..
I would like to sample a few more Bond fragrances, I don't think any of them can top GV, but I'd like to give a few more a chance since I love GV.

Dior Homme Intense is playing tricks on the wearer's nose. I am 100% sure about that. if you spray too much, the wearer is getting the impression that the more you spray, the weaker it seems to become, whilst the people around get nuked when you enter a room with 6 sprays or something. 1 to 2 sprays seem to be perfect. I have batch February 2021. It dries down to fantastic lavender, but nobody is talking about that lavender. but it is mostly lavender in the dry off with a bit iris left from the middle and the opening, for like 8+ hours......

    • @stayfreshproductions
      @stayfreshproductions  2 года назад

I’m looking for the lavender you detect, but it’s not on my skin. The woods take over for me. But that’s just simply my experience, and a result of the variability and subjective nature of putting scents on your skin.

The best Bond no.9 imo is Greenwich Village and I bought a tester when that came out for under $150. It’s hard to find that now for that price. I totally understand your perspective as of late... I hate purchasing a flanker that's redundant of the original or another from that line (e.g. Stronger with You Intensely vs. Stronger with You Leather). I understand the DNA should be similar, but there should be notes that add a distinctive scent difference in each fragrance. Also, I think Dior is pulling a "cash grab" with Homme Intense vs. Homme Parfum, just my opinion! Keep'em com'in...

The Dunhill Agar Wood is VERY disappointing! Honestly, you can get any of the Icon collection or even Driven for considerably cheaper, good for every day easy wear. About Dior: the only one I half liked from this Homme range is the new Sports release, again a good gym or office scent that is a bit over priced. I'm here for the constructive criticism. Unique viewpoints is something that helps me better consider what is worth buying, what I am missing etc. One of the scents that I really don't get is Side Effect from Initio. I feel like I'm missing out on the next great thing with all the, I guess, asskissery that it gets when to me it's nothing more than a hedione bomb. Pegasus Exclusif from PDM - doesn't get a lot of buzz, but man, that scent just smells like some earthy nuts. I don't really like normal Pegasus either. While I do have this scent, I am left unimpressed by the watered down Jubilation XXV from Amouage. They completely butchered that thing, it used to be the ultimate summer date night fragrance.

It be like that sometimes man, that’s why fragrances are subjective. Just because a bunch of people like a certain fragrance doesn’t mean you will. And vice versa. I haven’t smelled the fragrances you mentioned before but here are 5 fragrances a lot of people love but I can’t stand and why 😂
    1. Dior Sauvage edt - too sharp and metallic. The Very Cool Spray is my fav🔥 also now days it’s known as the F Boy signature fragrance 😂
    2. Creed Aventus - overhyped and overrated. If I’m gonna spend Creed money on a full bottle it’s gonna be Green Irish Tweed or Millésime Impérial. Beautiful fragrances 🔥
    3. Acqua Di Gio Profondo - it’s not a bad smelling fragrance, I just expected it to blow me away when I first smelled it because it was so hyped on RUclips and Fragrantica. Truth is though, pretty underwhelming and performance is average at best on my skin. Also some RUclipsrs had the audacity to say it was better than Profumo 🤦🏻‍♂️ that’s blasphemy! Profumo is still the best in the line💪🏼🔥 Profondo Lights is actually much better as well.
    4. Dior Sauvage Elixir - smells decent👌🏽 but I think Dior is over doing it with this one. They should have called it quits after Sauvage Parfum (witch is a beautiful scent by the way). At this point they’re just trying to compete with Chanel by releasing a new flanker every year 🤦🏻‍♂️ 😂 basically what I’m saying is that Elixir is nice but unnecessary in my opinion.
    5. Oud dominant fragrances in general. Especially the animalic fecal smelling Oud fragrances 💩🤢🤮😷 just not my cup of tea you know? Boss Bottled Oud on the other hand is really nice. And although maybe a more synthetic Oud note but the fragrance is beautiful to say the least🔥
Don’t be offended people! Just my opinion here 🤙🏽

I feel that way about Dior homme intense. It's talked about like it's the greatest fragrance of all time. But I'm so let down by it. It smells like powdery cacao with marshmallows with like you said a generic Woody dry down. It's a skin scent the entire time and hadls absolutely zero projection. Performance is terrible. I don't understand it at all. I'm hoping with age maybe it will get better ? Idk right now it's light and fluffy smoares baby powder.

I'm not too hype on Bond No 9 in general. Nothing I have smelled from them has come close to blowing me away. I do, however, have my own fragrance that has a very strong cult following, although discontinued, that people speak so highly of but I don't get it at all. This fragrance being Yves Saint Laurent's Rive Gauche Pour Homme. I was a blind bottle buying madman and I wanted this so badly for my collection. The amount of disappointment when I smelled this was off the scale. It's just...shaving cream. That's it, no more, no less. Oh well, I have hopes one day down the road I will come back to it and finally get what everyone else does about Rive Gauche, but until then, it's a big NO for me. Umm ...I do have 3 diferent Dior's home intense
One for 2014 I think another one from 2017
    And a 2020
The only difference I find it it's my old one it's stronger and feels more macerated specially in the beginning but It didn't proyect as far as the 2017
this last about the same or may a bit longer than the 2014 it may also a bit sweeter I think my favorite one
My 2020 it's a bit fresher in the opening a bit lighter fluffy but it last about the same and it drys down about the same as the others ones
It's a bit less richer richer maybe like about 5% in my opinion
Buy definitely the same formula to my nose and
Not a mixed of 2 diferent fragrances!
That was ridiculous to say that!

I think as collectors we sometimes view flankers differently then what I have always thought their purpose was..
Most guys don’t own more than 1 to 10 bottles and 10 is a high number.
I’ve always felt like flankers are released to 1) Put light back on the original fragrance in the line.. As many guys still only wear the OG from a line.. 2) use the cache from the OG to get people that wore / wear the OG to branch out and MAYBE buy more of the line / make that flanker their new signature scent..
Again.. Most fragrance wearers have that one bottle.. so when a flanker comes out, I feel most people are waiting until they actually are out of their current bottle and then buying that flanker. Or maybe they purchase it as a gift..
Those of us collecting fragrances view them as “cash grabs” bc we get roped into our own excitement and buy it.. whereas most are only buying it when actually “needed”..
So they would be buying a fragrance regardless if it’s the original or the flanker..
Does that make sense.?? Sure there are some “cash grab”
Intentions with new releases.. Companies have to remain relevant and appear “modern”.. These are large companies that have to make money.. I know that’s a lot of rambling.. I just feel as though we make these flankers cash grabs by buying them, when in reality, we don’t need them..
The guy that still wears Armani Code EDT and that’s all he wears.. isn’t running out to Macys when the new EDP was released.. We do that.. Sure he might buy it next time he goes to the store to buy a new bottle of Armani Code EDT and the sales rep shows him the EDP..

    • @stayfreshproductions
      @stayfreshproductions  2 года назад +1

Makes sense...my only question is if they could make a version that's as strong as the original used to be, why was it ever reformulated? That is what makes me smell "cash grab" with releases like this. When flankers actually do something a little different, I can respect them more.
