I love this song it always makes me cry. I have been a widow since 2007 and I miss my husband very much. This song always brings memories back to me. Michaels voice is so soothing.

One of the best recordings ever. A hidden gem. It's great knowing this masterpiece isn't forgotten.
Yet, to interrupt this song once it begins, well it just a tragedy to my ears.
Though never on the radio, or known much at all, nevertheless, I do believe this song is arguably Michael's best one. Very glad to hear it recognized all these years since.
    Probably because... I lived it.

Stumbled across this. Michael McDonald is one of my all time favourite singers. But to hear it reviewed by one the greatest singer songwriters of all time is very special. Bish, you are a legend. Recognized is one of the greatest short songs ever written. And your lyrics! Puts on Sinatra and starts to cry, take Jimmy Stewart out to dinner, buy some postcards for his wife, can’t you hear the parade, you have no right to speak to me so kind, and the immortal ‘I’m so miserable without you, it’s almost like having you here’. Bish, you are a legend in my house.

There was once a time, before the internet, when people close to you could just vanish from your life. Forever.
And, you relied on music like this...to fill the void that they left behind.
I was 19 years old; in the Navy--and had just just completed boot camp, when I bought this cassette for the song, "I Keep Forgetting".
I hadn't received a letter from my girlfriend back home in nearly 2 months. After I was told she was seeing someone else, I'd often rewind, "I Keep Forgetting" over and over. One time, I let the tape play completely through; and I discovered:
"Love Lies"; "I Gotta Try"; and, "I Can Let Go Now". I can now only TRY to explain how that sequence of songs "saved me". Literally.
To this day, it's impossible for me to play that song sequence--and not be transported back to my nineteen year-old late-teen self.
I've come to adore other versions by Allison Krause, (Union Station); Nathan East, (feat. Sara Barrilles); and, Jaya.
    Such a powerful song.
    Thanks for reviewing it.
    (love you work too, Stephen!(

I absolutely love listening to Michael Mcdonald what a voice! & I absolutely love Bish your 2nd Album, everything you sing is awesome but somehow i go back to Bish all the time, i listen to it nearly everyday, i put Alexa on when getting ready in the morning & sing along to every track, i would love to hear you live, take care and stay safe from a bitterly cold Scotland

a simple song of loss, devastation, and looking to tomorrow. Dionne Warwick covered it and did it well. Marty Paich was an arranger for decades and I think arranged "The Way We Were."

Hey, Bish. (It's Jan... We've met several times on the road. I was the chiropractor who adjusted you all those years ago in St. Louis and then met up with you in Sebring, FL for a New Year's party, in Lancaster, PA when you opened for Don McLean, and a few other times. By the way, I still have the sneakers from England. The still fit me perfectly.) I loved watching your interpretation of one of my all time favs, Second Avenue by Tim Moore. If you and Jim want to add a couple more songs to your list of ultimate depressing break-up tunes, try The Story Of My Life by Neil Diamond (my dad's good friend from high school) and Where Do You Start? written by the Bergmans - I think you know them ;) - which has been recorded by so many people, but my favorite version was by Kenny Rankin. (I'd also add One Less Holiday to the list - ever hear of that one?) I'm sure I can some up with a bunch more as I've become a connoisseur since discovering YOU when I was a teenager and then again when meeting up with you in St. Louis in 2001 when I sat in the front row at the Holiday Inn and wept to see how heartfelt a songwriter's emotion can be when performing his own songs live. (I only ever experienced that two other times - when hanging out with Kenny Rankin and again with Paul Williams (doing his old stuff years ago before he dried out). As usual, thanks for being one of the main crutched I've leaned on to get me through some of life's toughest times. Please know that your songs (especially my personal theme song - Bish's Hideaway) continue to do so and will always... on and on... [P.S. When will we ever hear you record a version of Sail On A Rainbow? PLEASE........]
