This is pretty much the hype of supersmash brothers ultimate and EVERYONE BECOMES A PLAYABLE CHARACTER from all of castlevania series. And im not gonna spoil how much that everyone means for dex.
"Illegally good" when talking about the music is more flattering than Dex makes it sound, since the DLC is sanctioned by Konami. According to the devs.
@@r3ktfox146I wouldn't say that The vampire survivor developers have shown to be pretty consistent with their quality output and each DLC for the most part being better than the previous one I think the real advantage that this DLC had with Konami was funding which allowed the DLC to be as big as it is

Welcome to "Part 2" of the Ode to Castlevania DLC! Here's some spoiler-free advice for how to proceed (for Dex or anyone else). 1) You want to keep grinding away at the new bosses and unlocking teleporters. They are necessary to progress. 2) As you figured out in your last video, the teleporters "cycle". You never have to worry about walking back. 3) Check the Unlocks and Secrets menu - you'll notice a lot of new things there to help guide you. 4) The Mad Grove arcana is great, but it's not all-powerful. Stuff that's behind doors you have yet to unlock won't teleport to you, and there are certain rooms where pickups are basically locked in place. 5) In my view there are (so far) 4 "parts" to the DLC, representing the things you can unlock. Part 3 will start when you notice a BUNCH of new pickups (more than you already got) on the map. Part 4 is once you've figured out what to do with those pickups. Each part gives you more things to unlock and secrets to uncover.
I think i listended to a conversion you had and you talked about part 3 and now i am only starting with part 2. DAMN this is more bigger than i expected. This is nuts.
Don't worry Dex, I went with the weapons of Leon, Trevor, Simon, Maria, evolved them, got the Alucard shield without knowing what it does, got surprised by it, then obtained every book+more weapons, killed every Boss on the map just to get all whiped by Death. Yeah, is a little funny, but it really set up the stakes of the fight and the power of Death, like, they expected the player to get stacked for Dracula, just to perform the greatest UNO reverse card.

Neil Newbon can't take a break from voicing vampires... Wait... a vampire? In my Vampire Survivors? What a blasphemy!!!
Well, now I'm excited for all the extra VS content coming. All the limit breaks and fun combos. Also, if you like the music of this DLC, you should check out a band called Master Boot Record. I've been listening to them for years and I finally got to see them live and they kicked ass. You won't be disappointed by their music.
I was banking on seeing your first time rection to truly see if a real vampire survivors fan would experience the amazement, because I got spoiled through a video.

Dex, re: 13:05 - You’re gonna love that weapon (Familiar Forge) - I got it pretty early in the game when I unlocked Hector. Not only is Hector’s weapon (Mace) great, but I’ll just say without spoilers that Familiar Forge has a mechanic similar to the Among Us DLC - just a LOT more crazy. Can’t wait for you to try that out!
I'm excited for the solo limit breaks. One of the things I'm worried about, having tried some of them myself, is that many of the new weapons will probably struggle in solo-weapon situations, they simply don't have the AoE. So I expect that several of the weapons will simply fail catastrophically to do solo-weapon limit breaks, and I hope you show us some of those too. Even if it's a bonus at the end of a limit break that did work, or as a cut where you show off several weapons that don't do well in limit break to at least showcase all of these new weapons. I'm also excited to see how you limit break Alucard's Shield (Final Evolution of the Sworb) since it needs to merge 5 other evolved weapons (or 6 counting itself). You'll probably need to set it up so that you have all weapons banished except the 5 weapons you'll merge into it, so that you end with one single weapon (or you wait for the vs tweaks mod to be updated, and simply give yourself 5 super candy boxes and select the weapons you want with a 1 weapon slot limit). I'm excited to know which 5 weapons you'll merge into it. Though perhaps you may just lean into it as a truly absurd run and try to merge as many evolutions as possible into it using candy boxes. The weapon is pure chaos and I love it.
I'm not sure what kind of ratio I'd put on it for these as Solo weapons, but a LOT more and more % of functional ones than Among Us and Contra's selections I feel like.
@@jaeusa160 I think many of them will have a really nightmarish earlygame. A lot of these new weapons don't provide consistent and reliable AoE, or can only attack to the Left or Right (So you always take damage from enemies that come from top/bottom). They may be fine if you do manage to get into Limit Break territory, but getting there will be painful. Like, you probably won't be able to start with Wicked Season to actually do some of them, which is lame, of course.
@@MH_Zard The most fun I've had with solo limit break so far has been Rapidus Fio (Evolved Sonic Dash). It's really stupid. Dex will HATE it. It basically just turns any character into Avatar Infernus with super garlic.

This dlc literally has more content than the base game and dlc (except for maps, but I don’t think hat counts because the new stage is MASSIVE) It sucks to have missed your reaction to this. The credits cutscene literally had me in tears and goosebumps.
If you want to kill death, it might be possible since you can go into the fight with your Arcanas and stats. A stacked Wandering the Jet Black might be able to do it, since it can get you to "Kill Reaper" levels of damage pretty reliably. If you're able to start the fight from an endless mode, you could also just farm up unlimited stats with Lifesign Scan and get every arcana before you start the fight. EDIT: I decided to go and try to kill death, I'm 99% sure you cannot kill death, but you can absolutely break the fight. I went into the fight with Infinite Corridor, Crimson Shroud, 2 million HP, and all of my stats at their effective cap, as well as a Wandering the Jet Black, and all of the other insane weapons I could think of. I've been sitting here on p1 of the fight for the last 10 minutes. So I don't think it's far off to say that I've dealt infinite damage, and he still isn't dying. I suspect that crimson shroud does just outright break the fight though, since you can't die. Alternately, it could be because Greatest Jubilee is spamming infinite freezes and they do freeze him (Or Infinite Corridor is freezing him, or both) Wandering the Jet Black did 200G damage. Infinite Corridor and Alucard's Shield (Infinite Corridor was in the shield) combined only did 500m, So I guess he's immune to that, or doesn't even have an HP value at all.

There is 31 secrets in the DLC, so thats a lot of things to discover. What you can do without me spoiler the reward is defeat all the bosses in a single run or beat any stage with only fire weapons (don´t use selector weapons).
@thenonexistinghero I dont know where you get that from, I asked in the last video specifically to get the spoiler on how to progress on the map. I didnt say I dont want spoilers, only if the last run would've unlocked further progression

The CD and the message this is a computer CD don't play it in a CD player.. is a nice touch from all those years ago - where Game CD's would have that message on the first track. The second track would be game data then any other tracks were usually audio tracks - speech or music. Damn this is one DLC that is really worth the money and it only gets crazier after this! :)
If you think the damage numbers you've seen so far are crazy, wait till you see the maces volution, those numbers are so big they show even when damage numbers are turned off.
as someone who play castlevania sotn when in middle school this brings memory when i defeated belmond regarding the (Spoiler), daymn i don't know they have 2 stage in there, i thought it only contain one stage.
Odd that it's the Alucart sword which is a knock off of the Alucard Sword. In Symphony of the Night it's a bit of a gag weapon that just looks like Alucard's and doesn't have a special attack. Perhaps the real Alucard sword is unlockable?
I wish we get more DLCs like this. Id love for Capcom properties to be included, imagina monster hunter, resident evil or more konami ones liek silent hill, bomberman and metal gear...
Waiting for the chain whip that you can control with your mouse... You should play Simon's Quest, and the symphony of the night which is still in my Gameboy like 20 years later.
Commenting again but the music of that character was made by Keygen Church/MasterBootRecord, his music style is unique I recommend you to give a listen to him. The difference between KC and MBR is only style, KC has a more gothic style and MBR more a retro/ computer style
Gracias
Honestly, theres no point to building before death, best strat is pick awake, walk to the teleporter and just walk straight to the boss arena at level 1 and just do it but thats only if you want to be efficient
Unlocking Brauner is super annoying so you should do it soon (maybe off stream) just to get it out of the way. There's a painting gallery above Slogra and Gaibon's room where floating paintings spawn between minutes 24-25 and then again 26-29. You need to kill them with Blood Astronomia arcana. Don't use Hurry mode. It might take a couple of runs. Also, kill that winged boss that spawns at minute 25 with Quincy then use the character that you unlock to fly above the water that surrounds the castle until you hear an unlock jingle. And finally, fight the final boss again with Richter but use the union of all 4 clockwork weapons.
Thats crazy, i dont understand 90% of the unlock conditions of the secret chars. Thank you for explaining a few! But how die you understand what you have to do??? 😂
It sucks that the switch is broken at the moment I can't unlock a lot of secret characters so I guess I have to wait for the patch when it comes and I was shocked when I did this
I think the Switch version is bugged. The spells won't work, the Librarian merchant doesn't spawn, the ebony and crimson stone doesn't activate... so I'm stuck and can't unlock my last secret characters :(
I heard there's 80 characters... I don't know if this is true or not, I am making progress, but good god this DLC is painful lol. I have to guess what evolves what
So my question is, I've heard there's an upside-down castle in I think symphony of the night, can you activate that in this dlc? My first thought was that inverse mode would need to be activated to start. It wasn't the whole process though.
I bought this DLC on a whim, but haven't gotten around to playing it yet. When I saw Jonathan, Charlotte and Soma I knew I was in for a fun ride. Those are the MC's from the 3 Castlevania games I played and I'm now really looking forward to spending some time on this DLC
Kinda sad seeing you just rush through all the unlocks! Each one could've been a video checking out the characters and weapons. I guess you'll get around to it in the end
Na, I think thats boring making a video and the only thing that changes is +1 weapon. The upload schedule will return back to every 2nd day soon, so this would've taken 20 days just to get the boss kill
Well hope you’ve been kill Cave Trolls between runs as you may or may not need to have killed a total of 3,000,000 of them for an unlock… which possibly the most painful kill enemy Y X amount of times I’ve seen in the game
i've spent yesterday like 10 hours with every single weapon fully upgraded. even with those i was not able to kill it... i don't know if it is intented but i will sacrifice a goat to know how to kill it... it is my missing bestiary entry. this keeps me at 99.99% :D
Next time play Dracula and end the new added bossea in the new unlocked ares and be ready for the surprise you'll get after finishing the stage with him *Don't tell him that there's more than another 10 characters that'll appear in the selection menu*
@17:20 I think the whole sequence is scripted regardless. For the 2nd time I went in, for a Secret reason, I did in fact have enough movespeed to prevent the Scythe from TRYING to hit me. Once it starts attacking, you will be hit no matter how far you can go to progress the fight's script I assume. But if you don't get close enough for it to try to attack, you can kite endlessly as far as I can tell, but I think Death simply has infinite HP until all the scripted events cycle through. Much like how The Directer was himself a largely scripted fight, with some unavoidable shenanigans, and more about the spectacle than a fight.

11:55 how did he get the Bone evolution? I've played for hundreds of hours and I've never seen that weapon pop up like that. I play on Switch, I don't now if there are any version differences vs PC version.
There is 31 secrets in the DLC, so thats a lot of things to discover. What you can do without me spoiler the reward is defeat all the bosses in a single run or beat any stage with only fire weapons (don´t use selector weapons).
He says not to spoil but then proceeded to spoil himself on the whole unlocking process of the DLC and rushed through...
@thenonexistinghero I dont know where you get that from, I asked in the last video specifically to get the spoiler on how to progress on the map. I didnt say I dont want spoilers, only if the last run would've unlocked further progression
Can i somehow find a list of everything? Because i am now at unlocking the secret chars but i dont understand 90% of the unlocking conditions cause they are cryptic
He said: "I tried to gather the needed information without getting spoiled at all. (Edit: for clarity, he looked up what he needed to do without letting himself get spoiled on what will happen if he does so, if i understood that right. And you obviously missed the last video.)
Maybe next time, resist your first impulse and listen twice to make sure your comment has actual validity. Just a tip in general.
@@Henryhannover Not sure you caught my response when you asked that earlier - but hit up the Vampire Survivors subreddit now - you’ll be pretty overwhelmed though (but in a fun way, don’t worry - it’ll fire up your excitement even more 👍)
what they did with that death fight was really cool
Nooooo I wanted to see your reaction doing this the first time ! :'(
The CD and the message this is a computer CD don't play it in a CD player.. is a nice touch from all those years ago - where Game CD's would have that message on the first track. The second track would be game data then any other tracks were usually audio tracks - speech or music. Damn this is one DLC that is really worth the money and it only gets crazier after this! :)
If you think the damage numbers you've seen so far are crazy, wait till you see the maces volution, those numbers are so big they show even when damage numbers are turned off.
no way he just fucking died and played it off xdddd
I've been playing the poop out of this DLC and it's fantastic.
as someone who play castlevania sotn when in middle school this brings memory when i defeated belmond regarding the (Spoiler), daymn i don't know they have 2 stage in there, i thought it only contain one stage.
Wow, they really went all in on this dlc huh? Bravo Poncle, bravo
Well what did you expect the devs were gonna do for a Crossover with the Franchise that inspired their game?
Would love to see a Dracula run
Okay, Dracula is insane if you read what he gets for his special ability.
i love dex’s strong german accent
what...... that's crazy amount of content
That is crazy VS is so good
Odd that it's the Alucart sword which is a knock off of the Alucard Sword. In Symphony of the Night it's a bit of a gag weapon that just looks like Alucard's and doesn't have a special attack.
Perhaps the real Alucard sword is unlockable?
The Alucard Sword is the evolution of the Alucart Sword
Swort upgrades into the sword then the shield.
I'm about to come 00:20
Commenting again but the music of that character was made by Keygen Church/MasterBootRecord, his music style is unique I recommend you to give a listen to him. The difference between KC and MBR is only style, KC has a more gothic style and MBR more a retro/ computer style
The first thing you should do next is explore the new areas and get the new relics! There's also a certain room that may be unlocked now too 😉
Hector is character is would suggest. He's insane
Jeah, unlock everything!
Gracias
I love when Vlad gave up the script millions of times. And join the fun crusade instead lol.
@Henryhannover people on VS discord pooled their ideas and Castlevania lore knowledge and figured it out. Brauner was the last one discovered
There is two more secret bosses you need to beat
It sucks that the switch is broken at the moment I can't unlock a lot of secret characters so I guess I have to wait for the patch when it comes and I was shocked when I did this
I wonder if a no-movement challenge with Charlotte and only the tomes is possible.
All these steps for even more content. Poncle went whole hog on this one.
I think the Switch version is bugged. The spells won't work, the Librarian merchant doesn't spawn, the ebony and crimson stone doesn't activate... so I'm stuck and can't unlock my last secret characters :(
Can you make for every secrets post death scene in OTC DLC?
Omg ProZD was the voice actor?? figures they would have him as the big bad.
I thought I would would be getting the DLC done before the Holocure update on the 15h, and then the extra 20 popped up.
Oh there’s more… ALOT MORE…
I heard there's 80 characters... I don't know if this is true or not, I am making progress, but good god this DLC is painful lol. I have to guess what evolves what
I took a look at the progress of my Vampire Survivors otc DLC, I counted 75, I'm not sure if there might be any additional secret characters
I hope you do an all whip run
So that means our cosmic entity is gone forever? I thought the director in the lore is the "big man behind the curtain" but it helps you fight death
No. Directer gets reborn.
I have a spoilery question i want to ask about the dlc, as ive only played the map twice, making an extra response in case people dont want to look.
So my question is, I've heard there's an upside-down castle in I think symphony of the night, can you activate that in this dlc?
My first thought was that inverse mode would need to be activated to start. It wasn't the whole process though.
Until when will the DLC be on sale? Or is it permanent?
I bought this DLC on a whim, but haven't gotten around to playing it yet. When I saw Jonathan, Charlotte and Soma I knew I was in for a fun ride. Those are the MC's from the 3 Castlevania games I played and I'm now really looking forward to spending some time on this DLC
20:22 if you know, you know :)
Crazy that Konami will do ANYTHING with Castlevania... EXCEPT release a new game on a home console.
I think "explosions propagate" means here that they chain, one causes another. Odd way to word it nevertheless.
i've spent yesterday like 10 hours with every single weapon fully upgraded. even with those i was not able to kill it... i don't know if it is intented but i will sacrifice a goat to know how to kill it... it is my missing bestiary entry. this keeps me at 99.99% :D
Bugged atmosphere, that's why it isn't being addrd
Try and unlock ALL the secrets even the ones you unlock later in the dlc progression
Getting every dlc weapon and evolving them will probably destroy the game😅
Could do limit breaks without lifescan because I like to see the struggle to unlimited power
Next time play Dracula and end the new added bossea in the new unlocked ares and be ready for the surprise you'll get after finishing the stage with him
*Don't tell him that there's more than another 10 characters that'll appear in the selection menu*
epic
Does this make you want to go back and play Castlevania?
But wait there's more
Dex never played a castlevania game? why is he talking about the music like that?
