Some beautiful tomatoes! My Dad did good...he taught me how to prune tomatoes well...JUST LIKE YOU DO!. I used honemade cages. In VA, I had a single tomato, over 7' tall, Over 3' wide. I could grow tasty and high yielding tomatoes. I moved to AL...OMG, I hate this crappy dirt!

Carry a bottle of rubbing alcohol with a spray mister and just hit those bugs with a squirt. They will die, the plant is unaffected. If your an organic specific product user, vodka works the same. Both are an "organic" product, but some people are product specific .
Man you captivated me to just listen and absorb your information👏 very directly, simple.... it’s lots of work and dedication... what do you do with the product that you cannot sell it ...you save somehow for yourself or you have any food banks you can donate it..... or you trying to produce for supply demand... many years ago at Brazil when I child my father used to buy products directly from the farmer and sale at market ever Wednesdays and every Fridays... intel he Bought a small store ... great times....
I see a tunnel one day soon at JR I bet. Then pigs and chickens for clearing and fertilizing. Do you use the paper pot transplanter. That's a heck of a game changer.

Is there a soap that you've used in the past that you can recomend? Your tomatoes look great, mine are in various states of success...some did better than others because I couldn't be consistent with all the variables, I'm using a small greenhouse/chicken tractor for after they were growing out of my germination rack w/led lights. I also had 4 trays of heirlooms get leggy on me, just one day too long under a cover while on heat mats, I didn't see it coming so ...note to self... don't underestimate tomato seedlings! I'm also thinking that my yellow leaves are from iron deficiency, but could also be all these cold rainy days without sunshine! Can't wait til Wednesday when we are supposed to get some sun!
The gardens and tunnels are really beautiful. I’ve trellised and caged tomatoes, but I’ve never pruned them. I didn’t know that I should to that. I assume it’s to put the energy into fruit production instead of leaf production. Do you ever thin the flowers or the fruit after it sets? Do the bees pollinate inside the caterpillar tunnels? So many questions I’ll watch future videos for answers. Congrats on such a productive market garden.
the pruning helps with air flow to reduce fungal issues, also fruit production, and helps with the lower and lean method. I don't thin the flowers, wind probably pollinates most of it but there are 3 beehives on our property
Regarding aphids, it is my understanding that aphids from lettuce will not move to another plant family. One species of aphids feeds only on brassicas (broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts), one on legumes,(peas and beans), another on soleidatas (???- nightshade family, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, potatoes). I do not think the white critters are white fly but aphid larvae. One more comment coming.
I watched them, its happened twice lol. Aphid give birth to live young, there are no larva. There are certain aphids for certain plants (in a sense) which would be part of the explanation of why they haven't grown in population in my opinion
My theory about having a "green thumb" derives from using your thumb to prune plants and from picking beans and peas and, well having a green thumb more than whole hand. I will be commenting more in a bit after I watch the rest of video.
12 bucks on amazon for ladybugs! I highly recomend them. I have been releasing them once every spring for years! Spray your plants before releasing and they will start breeding and laying eggs. Their larva eat upto 50 aphids a day.
It seemed to me you are only growing cherry tomatoes, is that true? I am just a backyard "homesteader" in SoCal taught by my Mom. I let my tomato plants grow to monsters, lite pruning to keep fruit from sunscald. I grow one or two cherries, but more slicing. I do not weigh cherries so much but am disappointed if a slicer does not produce at least 20lbs. So here is a true backyard story: My Mom had a bird feeder in her backyard for at least 15 years. I moved it and planted a "Champion" tomato in that spot. It became larger than a large fridge/freezer combo. From that one plant I got over 100lbs. Next year it dropped to about 75lbs and now it is more towards the 25lb which I expect from my indeterminant tomatoes.
You might try ladybugs like Daniel from Arms Family Homestead did. He bought them on Amazon, I think. You can root the suckers in water for a new plant.
I didn't. I could tie it around a sod staple if I wanted but seeing how they do this year as opposed to last year where we had no clips and tied it off

thats cool! we freeze what we don't sell for salsas, marinara or other things (Tori does most of the canning).

safer brand insecticidal soap. your seedlings will bounce back when you plant them!

dang that's cool! Probably all that bird poop haha. mostly cherrys a few slicers. Everybody grows slicers here.

I’m not sure how they make it, but our big Amish Greenhouse men grind up their tomato pruning foliage and mix it and use it as bug spray.

Joyce T we got ladybugs in March when we had aphids in the other tunnel. They work great if you can keep the tunnel closed
