a game all about playing those doomed nations would be pretty metal
🤘🤘🤘
Well, there is a mod for Hearts of Iron IV called "Unification Wars" which is a good representation of that era of 40k lore. It's got a lot of flavour for Big E and Achamenids like the degradation of Thunder Warriors a much earlier Astartes Project etc. If you want to see how it looks like, Pravus made a series on it although there were a lot of of updates since.
@@TheRealDraconiusthe image used in that mod for Narthan Dume is so cool but I can’t find it anywhere :/
I can link it to ya if u want
@@40kNexusYes Please!
There is not much information about "Jermani" out there. But we know that one of its nobles allowed his son to become an Astartes.
His name: Fabius Bile
Germans doing questionable medical experiments, where have I heard this..?
Ofc warhammers Spehss Megele was German lmao
@xenon3990 it's a British company... they have to keep the propaganda going rather than admit the reality of looking out on their streets. Speaking german is a far less defeat then the demographic replacement being inflicted upon them... literally everything that Chamberlain warned would happen has already come to pass & it's far worse then even he feared.
"Vee haff veys of making you talk" *Binds vox speaker into prisoner's throat*
@@xenon3990 Technical, he is the Warhammer Frankenstein. Both come from Ingolstadt.
Another group from the unification wars was the Terrawatt Clan. Descendants from the Cult Mechanicum of Mars who remained on Terra who joined the emperor's cause helping him on the imperial war machine and they were vital for the Cult Mechanicum to accept the emperor as the Omnisiah.
The Nusakambangan prison which Tang was being kept, is a real prison located in the island of Nusa Kambangan, Indonesia.
Its Indonesia's most infamous prison with a dark history and still being operated to this day. Basically Indonesia's version of Guantanamo Bay. It currently houses terrorists, PDF files, murderers, ect.
I thought it was in old Pakistan
@@AmerikanSkull The lore clearly states Nusa kambangan which is an actual island in Indonesia and the fact that there's a prison there in the lore and real life makes it obvious it's inspired by the real thing.
@@worlds3061 ahh ok my bad. Must be thinking of another place
Note that the British makers of this game chose to have their techno-barbarians join the emperor rather than be defeated
That's not particularly significant.
The British makers of Warhammer Fantasy clearly based their Warhammer Fantasy protagonist human faction on the Germanic Holy Roman Empire, and Albion in that setting was a chaotic backwater with druids and barbarians.
The Imperium itself in 40K is also primarily Gothic with Roman influences.
@@heindrich1988 And they're not the only ones to join the Emperor freely, the Achaemenids do so too, and the Boeotians (ca. Greece?) form a pact with them, as do the Terrawatt Clans, iirc.
@@heindrich1988 The emperor of mankind is literally Turkish. He was born in Istanbul in 8000 BC.
@@thedrifter3779 You mean Anatolians then. Turks did not exist in 8000 BC. Istanbul/Constantinople was still majority Greek until after the Ottoman conquest.
@@thedrifter3779 "in 8000 BC"
The Turks have not even been in Anatolia for 1000 years. 🤡
glad I found a channel that went more in depth with the Techno-Barbarian stuff
More to come! I didn't cover all the kingdoms! 😁
They could make a whole series of games just based on pre unification
Welp, time to buy Imperium Maledictum and run a Warhammer40kRolePlay campaign of people adventuring in the pre-unification war era
Wrath & Glory ain't bad, either, though you might find some of the old d100 games (to which Maledictum is *much* closer) for cheap ^^
@@talscorner3696Agreed! I did a sick Underhive Settlement/W&G campaign a while back
I ran a GURPS game doing that, I DMPCed the Emperor, who'd only show up if the players needed, but he was generally busy getting his geneticist, pyskery, administration, leadership skills up, sending the players out to do things.
Sign me up!
@@GeneralSturnnwhy would a God need to help irrelevant people??? He was getting beyond frustrated with how inadequate even the Perpetuals who sided with Him were... and He had known them for thousands of years.
fun fact Ahriman twins were born in Achaemenid empire/old Persian empire in Persia/Iran specifically in either city of Anshan or Susa.
The unification's war was hell. If it was a vidéo game, it would be like fighting the end-boss on hardcore +++ difficulty in the tutorial. No wonder the great crusade following it was sonquick.
So basically, most of our existing nations(some bigger than today) went full Mad Max on the dried oceans and all fell to the Imperium.
Also, it's a blessed future. I'm a big fan of Persia, and someone in this future took the time and effort to restore the Achaemenid Empire out of all states.
Hell yeah bro I'm persian and I am so happy
Always was fan of ahriman twins specially ahzek
A couple others are also pretty interesting, there's the Terrawatt Clans and that one underground city in Antarctica, for example. Obviously no point in mentioning all of them. For your next video, maybe talk about the Old Hundred regiments, the pre-Unification terran military formations that were allowed to continue serving the Emperor without being reorganized, or maybe about the pacification of the Solar System, such as the attack on Luna, or the moons of Saturn. The pact with Mars is an obvious one as well, of course, but it's probably heavily covered by others as well.
@@nakenmil I certainly will! I have a thunder warriors video coming out tomorrow but I'll work on that next. I intend to hopefully do two more videos about the techno barbarians but idk if there's enough clans/kingdoms or lore for them left. I'm excited to read more about them though
Terrawatt video is up!
Those old ones are really interesting, cause they would use Kinda Hindu Imagery, in contrast to the usual Catholic imagery.
I find it awesome, that people are talking about the unification wars.
liked the easter eggs in the map like megacity 1 and new california republic being locations in america and ryleh and rapture being locations beneath the dried out hawaii.
There's also Wakanda, Junk Town and Falkreath (from Skyrim).
I'm sure there's more too. This is Warhammer after all.
2:15 this is literally Technobarbarian Pol Pot
@@keranssdecontrol 😂
2:42 The place where Cardinal Tang was imprisoned is a real location within the Indonesian Republic. An "island" in the province of Central Java, known as "Execution Island."
It is a complex of supermax prisons for terrorists, pirates, cartels, organized criminals, traitors, etc. There are beautiful white beaches that can be visited by tourist groups accompanied by government officers, although staying overnight is not permitted.
The only individuals allowed to visit the prison complex, aside from authorized government personnel, are some families of the incarcerated, local indigenous people, criminologists (researchers), and criminology students.
I just noticed on the far left edge of the map the "City of R'lyeh", did the Emperor vanquish Cthulhu?

"merika" we were SO close, one letter away 😂😂
More importantly, are the Old Ones and the Ancient Ones the same??
'Merica'
Oh, GW...
Been wanting a video about this for a while, good stuff!
Merica! Fuck yea!
was always curious about these things , but never looked them up
good watch
I love your videos ! I enjoy all the obscure and far flung bits of the lore but unification era is my favourite ! Hope you’ll do some stuff about the old imperial army battalions and the solar reclamation.
@@ultrasquid7901 ooooh that's a good idea. I'm writing it down. I'll get to that after I've gone through all the techno barb states. Thanks
Thanks so much for this, that map is great!
Age of strife was basically fist of the north star lol
Awesome to do a video on one of the more obscure parts of the lore. Where does most of the information about pre unification Terra come from? Codexes, books, something else?
Thanks I really appreciate that! I learned most of the lore in this video from Warhammer 40k wiki and the Lexicanum. Finding the art was difficult which is why I didn't cover all the kingdoms. Those will come in another video if this one does well. Thanks for watching!
One question always comes to my mind when the Reunification War is mentioned: where did the Emperor start his Crusade from?
Was he sitting under the Himalay(z)an Mountains all the time, opened the door at told his armies "Now do your worst!" or where did he prepare for the war?
Idk but I'd love to know. I get that they want this area to be murky but cmooooon I need to know the deets lol
I was always curious about the techno barbarians and their story. Thanks for the upload
Soooo. nobody gonna talk about the City of Rlyeh, Wakanda, The Draka Dominion or Junk Town at 4:42 (pause the video) ?
Edit: Also noticed Mega City One and the New Californian Republic
@@ottojarvonnen2455 i will cover those soon. I'm working on the Terrawatt clan today
Hope this channel will thrive, great contents!
Awesome job!❤
Took him 200 years to conquer the entire galaxy, but 800 years to unify Terra, there's no place like home they say...😅
2:12 Genosha from Xmen and Junktown (Bartertown from Mad Max). A testiment to 80s UK based creators.
Thanks god there it is on the map!! haha Ive been trying to tell people for years that Albia is from the old English for Britain. Its not Albania. Fine work. Subbed.
Was just reading about them. There's 2. Old Albia located where the British islands were and Albyon which looks to be where France and Spain were. Pretty cool lore about them. The emperor had such trouble trying to conquer them that he called a cease fire and put on white robes, strode across the battlefield and negotiated with them. Apparently they were too costly to conquer with force
👍 Great Video
Great video keep it up.
Thank you!

Interesting time period. It would be cool to play in this time period.
*let's go!*
I love this part of the lore so much and sadly with the state of things now I sort of hope GW never touches it again to make a game or add more lore to it.
Great video! Can you cite some of your references please?🙏
The Warhammer 40k wiki and Lexicanum
@@40kNexus many thanks. I think there may well be a Unification wars game out by GW in 50 years following this synopsis !

What books are about Unification Wars?
Dreams of Unity and Outcast dead are valuable for context; they're the only Thunder warrior characters we have. There's really not much else, there's bread crumbs in a few other books. also I've heard that Valdor: Birth of the Imperium is about the uni wars but I have yet to read it. Thanks for watching!
@@40kNexus Yes so there are no direct Unity era books then :(
Besides Valdor which all happened before the the imperium was a thing.
Im actually surprised you have not read that book since this is the subject matter, I recall there is a passage there about how important Valdor himself was to the Emperor and how he conquered/marched across terra to find him - for a reason never explained.
There is also mention that the Emperor only found/built the start of the Golden Throne before he even went to Mars.
My personal theory: the Custodies and the legendary "Men of Gold" from the golden Age of Technology. They are described as being superior in everway to Astartes and normal humans.
But think of the Navigators they were the top of society in the earlier era of human exploration but now they are merely slaves or a vital resourse for the Imperium.
Wouldnt it be very much like the Emperor to turn the once emperors of mankind into his own utterly loyal regiment.
I'm curious what you think internet man
I like how the Pacific Ocean is called the Great Ocean, despite it being less than a quarter of its original size.
Malcador said no one has seen the true form of the emperor
How did old albian war with pan pacific?
" 'Merica "
The naming of this states was really low-effort. 😂
I know right! Merica?! 😂
Yeah. But all of them in a way. The Achaemenids were the Persian dynasty that was overthrown by Alexander the Great. Somehow it just re-emereged in the Age of Strife? 😅
@@philipzahn491well Alexander wasn't around anymore so they though they were safe to respawn
🤣
Well they are supposed to be derived names of the old countries/continents so it kind of makes sense. I can definitely imagine future Americans just calling it Merica.
Merica 😎😎😎
So which tribe did the Emperor initially represent... or did he just draft randoms all over, into his army?
He was largely isolated in the Himalayan labs with his closest followers, so probably none. He was his own faction, a timeless being. I’m sure that shortly after he sent his thunder warriors out to take lands he also conscripted the armies and populaced of cobquered nations but it was him lording over them not so much representing them
the himalayan mountains was his first kingdom and starting point of unification.
Himalayan Lab Neet.
Like genghis khan starting out as a small tribe then adding every nation he conquered to his own. Until he had a massive empire.
around 2:15 your using a map that has "Wakanda" on it. C'mon bruh.
Is Philippines part of Yndonesic Bloc or Pan Pacific Empire?
I'd say it's closer to Yndonesic block but there's no official mention of it to my knowledge. Thanks for watching!
@@40kNexus i just found a map on reddit. It borders the Yndonesic block but part of Pan Pacific
@@cxvii6812 ah ok I wonder if I have that map, I've found like 4 of them and I've noticed some places move locations from map to map
@@40kNexus yeah it was hard to figure out but this map had some cities listed that had events happen in the 40k setting which made it easier
2:55 That not the British Isles, that's the North Atlantic.
You don't discuss the Terrawatt Clans?
I gave them their own video: ruclips.net/video/KHbD0v-0tsg/видео.html
So I know that this section of the lore is kind of designed to be murky and mysterious and lost to time
And I know that in a game called Warhammer 40k the writers are going to focus on the military components of these societies
And I know that 40k is a universe where everything that can go wrong always does
But I still feel that there should be at least a few societies on Terra and throughout the galaxy that are somewhat pleasant, even mildly democratic, and not taken by the warp
Civilization is fragile, war and tyranny are human instinct. Peace and liberty tend to only last as long as it takes an illiberal conqueror to turn up. A non-expansionist, liberal democracy may be able to turn away an ammoral, invading force for a while but democracy has to be lucky every day to continue whereas violent coercion only has to get lucky once
oh they were many democratic societies its just the ones tht didnt give up those principles in regards to non humans ai mutants and pyskers got removed from this reality via missle update.
MURIKA!
So, we're any of them techno-barbarian states or not?
All the ones I mentioned in this were states/kingdoms. The next video I'll cover a few more that weren't mentioned. Also soon I'll do army units of* the techno barbs
Albia joined voluntarily, so Brex-in?

It’s really easy to tell the lore was made by a British 😂
How so?
@maltheri9833 that's like basically saying Star Wars is British too because it has an Empire as well.
It is completely unrelated
@maltheri9833 the imperium is not an admirable country. You’re not making the point you think you are.
Is Wakanda canon? Wat?
@@MrKataklysm I don't think it is. It's on the map but I can't find any lore about it. Honestly about half of the names on the maps don't have any lore that I can find. Maybe there's some references in some books I haven't read yet
