I'm surprised you didn't mention anything about the issue of how looking into bright lights in the dark often looks bad for people who had laser eye surgery due to distracting artifacts being introduced (I forgot the exact name). That's the main reason why I wouldn't want to get it.
I recommend just embracing contacts or glasses. I had LASIK 10 years ago and was spoiled. Now that my LASIK has “worn off” I’m back to contacts or glasses. It’s really hard to get used to it again. Plus, glasses are in style now!
Hey Antonio, I love your videos. I also love eyewear and contacts. I am about to hit 55. I had early onset cataract surgery with yag laser treatment. I do have problems with Astigmatism and still myopia. I have astigmatism in both eyes but it isn’t as stable in my right eye and has recently increased in my last test. I'm glad I have not considered refractive eye surgery. I also have problems at times driving at night.
You did not mention the other numerous risks like infections, fluctuating vision, corneal scars, halos, etc. pp. MY PERSONAL OPINION: people who can correct their vision with glasses should avoid that massive eye injury that such a surgery in fact really is!
Thanks for the feedback! In hindsight I agree something like that would have been nice to include, although having said that it is actually very rare to come by. I’ll keep that in mind for future videos
@slavewholave hmm bizarre, I don’t know what happened to your comment sorry but I do have ‘hold potentially inappropriate comments for review’ turned on so something could have happened there 🤔
I was told when I asked about lasik years ago that it would be too expensive and sometimes your eyes will still change. Then I would still be wearing glasses. This was when I started wearing bifocals. They were right. For me, it was too expensive and my presbyopia got worse. On the upside, my myopia got better with one eye being SPH and the other being only -0.25. My astigmatism worsened greatly though. Still wearing glasses and contacts and that's just fine.
Thanks for confirming that Laser Eye surgery is not for me! I’ve got High myopia and astigmatism , but higher than the top they quote and also irregular astigmatism in both eyes and Sjorgens so my eyes are always ridiculously dry. There’s also the unfortunate fact that even at 42 my prescription still changes on average every 12months - and I’m not talking about needing bifocals yet, just my myopia getting worse - though in my twenties it was every 6months for the majority of the decade, so at least it’s slowed down!
@@AznDudeIsOnMy previous optometrist said it was pretty common for females to have fast changing prescriptions through their twenties (in his 20+ -20yrs ago- experience) but I do have Endometriosis which means my hormone levels are screwy so maybe it’s connected to that 😂😂
SMILE has many disadvantages compared to excimer based procedures. It doesn't have advanced profiles that minimize induction of spherical aberrations, it can't be enhanced if something goes wrong, it does't have eye tracker so decentrations are very common, and the list of disadvantages goes too long for a youtube comment. Also the three techniques induce higher order aberrations, which make you see bad but you can't correct with spetacles or normal contact lenses.
SMILE is easily the worst of the three, but they're all unsafe, unnecessary and unregulated. I personally know someone who had a decentered SMILE procedure causing him to see double of everything. He quit working not long after that.
Ive gotten Lasik last march, Still expirience some wierd things from tjme to time, like one eye beeing blurry while the other is sharp, however that usually vanishes within a few hours.
I got it a week ago and my right eye was initially really sharp vs my left eye. Now it seems the other way about the past few days. The day after I was comfortably seeing 20/15 in both eyes. Pretty confident about my left eye possibly being even better now but not so much my right eye which seems to have regressed if anything
Few people who did Lasik in RUclips comments said that they can't see the bright headlights which is effecting their vision while driving and few more complications, are they true
I got it done for mild myopia, - 1.75 & - 1 and personally, I'd say my eyesight is better at night time than with glasses and contacts. I think the stronger the prescription preop, the more likely those side effects can be. The newer surgical techniques have eliminated some of the problems there used to be but of course there are still those who suffer and so it also depends where you go and which surgeon
your voice is good and videos are mostly ok but you speak so slow, big pauses, nobody will wait your next word and stop watching sadly. it reminding me healthcare videos in hospitals for grannies.
Hey Antonio, I am barely myopic in my right eye these days as Astigmatism is my primary problem as is presbyopia with Astigmatism more significant than presbyopia.
Great to see you back 🎉 happy 2024!
Some high quality animation
😂 no they are super low budget!

Orthokeratology would be an interesting topic to cover, it's like braces but for your eyes

What is your opinion on WhistlinDiesel's experience with laser surgery? I'm not sure I can ever trust LASIK after hearing that.

I thought myopia stopped at 25. Maybe ur just still in puberty

What's your current prescription? I am on my early thirties and my myopia is also getting worse every single year.
You're really helpful :))

I am 63yrs am short sighted in one eye, long sighted in the other, oblique astigmatism and double vision. So laser treatment is out for me too. 😏

Maybe dry eye? Unstable tear film...
@@lekalotte2825 using eyedrops does not change it tbh

Can you explain how a surgery for retina dystrophy works? Is it necessary most of the times? Is it necessary before eye surgery for fixing miopia?

I'm in my mid 50's and would love to see a vid on Refractive lens exchange.
