Dragonborn don't have wings and no tail. Half dragon do have those. (wings optional but always a tail). Of course you could make a joke about dragonborn puberty when growing into adulthood by lossing their tails 😂

The 1e shields are upside down because of how they are strapped to the arm. When walking the would you would have your arms down so it would face normally. If the straps were horizontal instead of vertical then it wouldn't matter as much when defending.
Paladin in Hell from a famous peice of art from 1E (which I think became an adventure in 2E).
Yes it is. The name of the adventure that art spawned is "Paladin in Hell!" :-)
3:47 Three things:
1) That’s based on the art for the Paladin in the 1e PHB
2) Medieval kite shields like that did have a strap configuration to hold it “upside down,” so that shield is historically accurate!
3) I NEED THAT MINI

That piece of art was so iconic they ended up making an adventure based on it.

@@TheGallantGoblin does Wizkids release a complete set of these boosters often? I'm trying to find the dragonlings from previous sets for a campaign Im working on. any idea where the ebst place to get them to where they're not price gouged out the rear end?
They’ve only recently released the Tomb of Annihilation complete set this year, which was a booster set from almost 4 years ago, so you might have to wait a while. A brick doesn’t guarantee you’ll get all the minis from the set, so the best chances (but not 100%) way is getting a case (4 bricks), which can obviously be costly.
Yeah, last year we had the full set of Pathfinder Battles: Rusty Dragon Inn, and this year, Icons of the Realms: Abomination Vaults. So these full set releases are rare. And, it seems that a case won't guarantee all the minis in this particular set with the chase figures, but perhaps you will get at least one of each 1-50 mini. We'll have to check reports of case openings to be sure since this set is pretty unique.
@@TheGallantGoblin definitely keep me posted on the pull rates for this set & if there's an aftermarket that has fair prices vs ebay over charging.
There stuff is pretty cool.. i think from what I saw here the shadow looks pretty cool.
I love the 1e kobold. I have always had a soft spot for them and it looks so good. And the & dragon is amazing.
The Paladin in hell figure, is made as it was drawn in the original AD&D Players handbook, from 1978.
finally, a goblin with bow and arrows! Also really like the elf and the paladin in hell minis!
The 1st edition minis are inspiring me to send my players back in time Thousands of years. I assume if creatures on our planet look and evolve different over span of their existence, the creatures of Faerun and other D&D worlds would have done similar. I am so excited to get my hands on these!!

If you look at the image for the 5e bugbear, you'll see that it's brown. I'm curious why this one is so yellow.

I only dislike the 1st edition Bugbear and the 2nd edition Lamure out of what you got (and maybe the Paladin...) I'm looking forward to getting a booster box!

Was pretty surprised to see Lolth in there, that's pretty cool! It's obviously gonna be pretty rare but it's an alternative to the unpainted one they released for MtG.
As you can expect from me, really pleased by the gnolls, they both look more "civilized" that what we usually see: the old one looks like he's sporting a full on fighter PC equipment and the modern one with a full chest band armor and braided mane.
Unique, I like it! I'm always up for some variety in my gnoll cackle.
I like the 1e flail snail.
I want the case, you can fill a lot of gaps in your collection with this set.

Very interesting concept for a set, and very fitting for the 50th anniversary. I have been playing D&D since 1e, but that doesn't mean I'm particularly fond of some of the monster art from those days, and am glad to leave those behind. As such, this is definitely a set where I will be buying minis individually from sellers online rather than buying boosters or bricks because other than a couple of exceptions, I really have no interest or use for the 1e minis, especially with the lacklustre paintjobs on them. I do think the 1e Mordenkainen and Strahd minis, for example, are instances of where the earlier editions' art is far preferable to me than the 5e interpretations. That Mordenkainen in particular is from a 2e Greyhawk cover, and the spell he's casting is Magic Missile, though the mini has a bit too much extra effect around his hand.
The Paintjobs on these seem decreased in comparison from Boneyard to Sands&Stone.
Well, keep in mind that my camera quality has increased too. These are blown up larger than life-size so any imperfections are easy to see too.

I think they're generally on par with the other current WizKids minis. There are one or two I call out (like the 1e blink dog) for needing a little extra wash or highlighting, but in general, I think they're all just fine!
Thank you as always! I think this is the first IotR set I’ll be skipping. Some great chase minis but I really hate the lack of cohesion between the looks of the two types of monster. I’m just never going to field them. I like the Classic Creatures set because it lets me choose to buy if I want, and is just one of each for display.
But I hope other’s enjoy it! Not for me, a rare miss in my eyes but not everything is for everyone!
This is certainly specialized and I think really aimed at collectors. So, yeah, I understand completely.
@@TheGallantGoblin Yeah. I do consider myself a Collector, I have almost everything D&D related Wizkids has put out in the last decade. With the exception of the Classic Creatures and this! Just not my style. But I hope it finds an audience that appreciates it.

Except the Bugbear I think the 1e mini's look much better than the 5e ones.
The 1e lemure is cool, but the 5e looks more in pain to me. I've used a previous set lemure in my campaign when dealing with a high devil, he shows them what they'll end up as with all the murdering they do, if they don't sell their soul to him....and the pain in that mini really helps sell the "i don't want to be that."
I wish a brick had more than 1 of the extra 10, I guess I'll just have to pay high prices to someone who got lucky, to make sure I get the cartoon characters in this set.
I can see that regarding the lemure. Yeah... I wonder how much those chase figures are going to go for on the aftermarket...
ok so for me to get this box brick and the Classic Red Dragon Boxed, I would need in the ball park of over $600 AUD just to order and ship to Australia
Honestly, playing with official minis and terrain outside of North America is an expensive enterprise. WizKids has reportedly been trying to increase their international availability since we started this channel, but as we learned when we started making plushies of our own, supplying them internationally is just getting more and more expensive.
