I eased into retirement over a decade after leaving my corporate career in 2012 at age 52. I traveled across Asia and Europe, graduated from culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu, worked part-time as a chef/baker for a few years, started my own online business during the pandemic. Now I'm winding that down and moving to Asia to reinvent again. I'm looking forward to exploring a totally new place and finding some new hobbies. I love that you can start and stop, switch gears and change your plans in retirement as often as you like!

That is an excellent point! The flexibility to start , stop and reinvent ! Great idea for a RUclips video! Thanks for the comment! Love what you are doing and experiencing!!!

Thank-you both for this video and others for helping me prepare for changes. I like the concept of starting a new stage of life, but we need to find a different term than 'retirement', which focuses on what we are leaving, instead of celebrating a new & more flexible status. Thanks again and good luck with the channel.

Thank you for all your hard work in putting together this RUclips channel. You have made a huge difference in helping me focus on the next chapter in my life as I recently retired. I watch a number of channels to gain perspective on the financial aspect of retirement. Your videos are unique as you focus on what are you going to do with this new phase of your life. You challenge me and the rest of your viewers that each of us have to work at this to make these our best years.

When I was forced to retire because of the Pandemic, I was clueless as to what to do. One of my Mentors at work told me a very important word. FIDUCIARY , I asked everyone whom I was interviewing to take over my small pension/401K if they were a Fiduciary. It helped a lot in making a sound money decision. You have to do your homework to make sure your money is safe.

We discover our identity by doing a deep dive into our values maybe, those things we prioritize spending our time doing, what lights us up and floats our boat, what gives us purpose to get out of the bed. Who can list their top 3 values? And do our values change over time, or do they stay with us in our personality?

Hi! Thanks for the comment. I went to UPENN and told an amazing course in applied positive psychology and through that came across a company Values in Action. They have a wonderful assessment online that’s free. Check it out!

It's amazing that work appears to totally blunt the human imagination. So many people don't know what to do when retired. It's as if their imagination was totally wiped out by spending decades in a corporate culture. It's a sad situation. I can think of at least 100 things I'd like to do when retired.

It’s great that you have a long list of things to do in retirement. What a great way to enter this phase of life. We are not without imagination but for us our wildest dreams needed some planning otherwise we found that we lost our way a bit. Thanks for the comment.
