my great grandfather walked from vicksburg, mississippi to near cocodrie, louisiana, after defeat. he and pals slept in cemetares hiding. had to eat their mule to live.
I am from Latin America and the people of the South of the United States are the most kind, respectful and decent people I have ever met in my life, God bless the South and its people.
Very interesting recording. It's a tune I have heard before, but as usual Tom, you offer so much more than just a song. When it has played for about 3:05, there is the most beautiful tree I have ever seen. So lit up in its beauty. Thank YOU!
If you are experiencing undue stess & anxiety in your life...before you reach for a bottle or a pill....take a few deep breaths...sit back..close your eyes & listen to this song...you'll thank yourself for doing so..!😉
Thanks but unfortunately, that group of musicians is me playing all of the instruments and singing all of the vocals. It is very hard to find anyone who wants to play this kind of music.
Oh? Interesting fact, but I meant that the actual confederates back in the 1860's had talented musicians and composers. Not that your bad or anything, just that that was how I meant my comment.
I'd perform with you, Tom. Unfortunately, I can't play anything on an instrument, but I'm good for background or harmony vocals. The music would drown out my caterwauling.
Tom Roush amazing job good man, I got a feeling it’s gonna start getting easier to find good help. The left is causing southern pride to wake up. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be coming across this right now.
This is a beautiful song. I remembered it was played at a family members funeral. He was 98 years young. I was about 17 years.
If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you?

They had them out there destroying the old world.

SWEET !!e
A rendition where you can understand the lyrics.
I love Jerry Garcia's versions.
But ....
Sounds like "if you're happy and you know it"
Confederate Music best Music.
They certainly had no lack of talented musicians.
