I thumbs up before I watch with this channel's videos lol
    Pure Gems💎
I've been publishing for several years now on KDP/ACX, so I browse and check-in on channels from time to time and subscribed to several (specific Big Up to Driven Publishers with Peter 👍)
However, Dorian is the only guy that goes into the nitty gritty with net revenue and looking at expenses
So many channels now are flashing the $25K/$50K/$100K per month videos highlighting books or Brands (whether High or Low Content), but don't breakdown the costs and by extension, the 5Cs
These KDP Throwdowns are Classics! 😂 🥊
    Keep it up 💯

Thank you, these are fun to do and I learn from them as well. If you have any competing books you'd like me to bring into the throwdown ring, let me know 👍

also - I agree, Peter is solid. So are Barry and Nelly. There's a lot of good info out there, but also a lot of hype!

Wow! Great video. It boggles my mind what people will pay for.

    • @SelfPublishing

Yes, and even more boggling is the fact that I'd probably buy one as a joke gift :)

People are willing to pay for all sorts of stupid things, you just have to find their stupid. To find their stupid, you have to think stupid :) Get it :P

I think its the kind of junk people have to buy for the person who already has everything

Thank you for this break down👌 I think it illustrates more than anything that the thinking 'would I buy this book?' is not the correct starting point. Research should be the starting point and always the starting point

totally agree with you. I've spoken to so many authors who "have an idea for a book" but never check if the market wants their idea until it's too late and they've spent their nonrefundable time and money publishing something nobody wants.

People aren't buying it for what's inside of it, because it's basically empty, so they're buying the outside of it which is a beautiful cover, and it's entire purpose is to sit on a coffee table looking pretty, and giving guests a cheap laugh.

people buy it because the concept is a good one, as evidenced by the market's response.

That's a great breakdown, far more value than I have seen other channels. Question. If you create a wordsearch, a learning book that has spe;;ing or any other book that has spelling dependant content, how do you get round the issue of American English vs UK English. There are distinct differences for quite a few words but if I created two versions, one for each market, would it get flagged as duplicate content?

    • @SelfPublishing
      @SelfPublishing  2 месяца назад +1

Thanks for the compliment! As to US vs UK English, I don't think amazon would flag it as duplicate if you keep the books in separate markets. Publish the US book in the US and the UK book in the UK. Or add "US Spelling Version" and "UK Spelling Version" in the subtitles. Call KDP and ask to make sure.
BTW - low/med content is not my focus, so take this answer with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the feedback! It feels a little strange to post videos to an invisible audience, so I appreciate the comments! 👍

@@SelfPublishing Well, gotta admit I looked up "Woof" to see if people had tried to copy the concept to other pets. The OG author of "Meow" published a copy, but I didn't see anyone else doing it. But I'll keep an eye out.

I gotta disagree with you there. I'd give one of these books as a gift and I'd be glad to have one on my bookshelf. It's funny, like a good one-liner.
