I'm new to tapestry and to the Rebecca Mezhoff community, but I am a trained artist making work primarily on oil paint and felted wool (the wool element was the path to looking into tapestry) and all of this is true no matter what kind of art you are making. I have to make some kind of art every day in order to improve and I consider that a good thing. It keeps is from stagnating and leaning on past work. I have to remember to paint and I have to keep exploring with the felting, but I hope to carve out a Nitch in my art practice to weave a little bit at least weekly too. I love the process.
Rebecca, this is such a powerful video. Thank you for sharing it. I am not a weaver...yet. I am a writer who is struggling with my writing, and everything you said here applies to my situation. After watching this video I feel renewed hope and excitement about getting back to the words. I may not be able to write a masterful novel every day but I can write a sample every day. That I can do. Thank you!!
Dear Rebecca. Thank you for posting this video with such a powerful message! I hardly ever use Facebook, so missed this in the group. But everything you talk about is so spot on! The habit to compare, the feeling insecure and the generation X thing.... You are such a wonderful teacher and this really is a great help and a beautiful reminder... Just keep on weaving...Thanks so much!
I’ve been feeling exactly the same way. It’s a horrible feeling when you desperately want to do something but you’re scared and avoiding it bc you make excuses like I don’t have the right color or the design isn’t good enough.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on not thinking in a limited way. Proceeding without limitation yields to growth and freedom in each person's personal expression.
Thank you for this so needed video? I have a question, is there a way to have a shed or sheds that works both ways .I have a stick that works one way and I have to do it manually the other way.
You'll need a loom with a shedding device to get the other shed OR research ways to do Navajo shedding. They use a flexible stick with heddles attached to it for the other shed. I've also seen people make all kinds of leashes for their looms.

This is so what I needed to hear today. Sometimes social media paralyses me. It is like ... why even try.
