Love your content 😊😊😊❤❤
10 eggs? I've never seen a 10 egg carton! Lol, in the USA things are bigger. A dozen or 18, but never a metric 10 😂
In my country egg cartons are very unhygienic. There is chicken poop and other stuff on. I'm not gonna try this one. 😂
Fair excuse tbf!
That's a really good point 😂
I was just thinking of how many salmonella issues have been linked to eggshells when he dunked it in his flour. If I wanted to try this, I'd use a styrofoam carton and wash everything ahead of time.
In the UK eggs with a red lion logo on them mean they have been vaccinated against salmonella and a high standard of food safety
Yep. Sounds like a good way to give yourself salmonella.
Telling Barry not to make puns is like telling the Simpsons not to be yellow
Eggsactly
Now you have to make one using Cadbury creme eggs!
Great idea that!
Or the caramel eggs 😋
Or Reese's eggs!
You're canman is doing really good job on this channel
Cheers, hoping we can create more content soon too once up to speed
oh yes, i love the flavour of recycled cardboard pulp
This is such a cool trick! Btw- in the states, the majority of our egg cartons have a dozen spots and the "pillars" are already short and stubby.
cheers for the info!
Ditto for Australia
Same in Brazil.
It's not a trick at all. It's just using a thing to make a shape.
@@grabble7605 It's absolutely a trick; it's using something you'd never think of trying to achieve a unique effect.
Bet that would work for a savory pastry too. Eggcellent work!
Oh great idea!
Scrumdiddlyumptious is a content farm renowned for publishing unrealistic recipes (“entertainment only”) - I’m so impressed Our Barry made this work.
...You're surprised somebody made a pastry? Why?
I've never seen a carton for 10 eggs, our eggs come in 6 or 1 dozen cartons. Great idea how the carton is used.
Oh really? Yeah we normally get the 6, 10 or 12
It's 6 or 12 here as well in our local Co-Ops (we're surrounded) and at Asda and Sainsbury's. The only time I've seen a 10 egg carton was from a farm shop.
@@mrbarrylewisUK also comes in 15
same, but the ones we get are 12 or 18 eggs
Sometimes you can get 18 in the US as well
Barry, have you considered a live stream subathon to get you over 1M? Chat controls your shopping trip, dish selection and methods of cooking.
top idea!
Yes. I agree totally you are correct about the shrink inflation. Love your videos 😊
You have funny egg cartons . In Canada ours are normal without those peaks you cut off. Lmao
I need to find out why they have them!
@@mrbarrylewis extra support for the carton top to prevent the eggs from getting squished before they reach your kitchen?
I'm sure you meant "egg-stra" support. @@pqrstsma2011
It's hotter than the sun!!!!!!!
My favorite ingredients:strawberries and chocolate.!
I bet it would taste delicious when it cooled for a bit, that looked like a pizza burn on the roof of your mouth kinda hot!
Always fun to watch you try out new things!
yep it was rather hot lol
Oh my. That looks delicious!!!! Yes please!!!
Great video as usual.
Cheers
Been with you since MyVirginKitchen and I for some reason had not pressed the subscribe button. Anyhoo; just wanted to say that was a great video and you're almost at a million subscribers, how amazing is that?! Thank you for the entertainment for over ten years and I wish you success for the next years!
This looks like soooo much fun!! And the fillings are endless - but who said it has to be sweet?? Why not give it a savory twist by adding a bit of meat & some veggies?! Oh the ideas!!
Ive been watching your vidoes for years. I thought this one was so cool I think im actually going to make this one. It looks so impressive yet so simple. Loved it! And of course looks delicious 🤤
Thanks for the support :)
I would have put the pastery in the fridge , then made the filling. IT looks so good. Take care and all the best. 👍👍👍
Love your baking videos barry! Suggestion: Tres leches cake! You and the fam will love it
This "base" puff pastry in the egg carton is so great for so many things! You can do sweet or savory with it! You could maybe go like a Empanada kinda deal with it, or like mini pies. I have seen the comments with cadbury cream eggs, that sounds amazing too! Different fruits like banana (maybe with nuttella). Amazing stuff!
I usually cut my vanilla bean in half and scrape about half the seds out so i can use it again, but I am usually umaking cream brulee' or pastry cream. I also keep my beans in the freezer.
Mmm. Can you imagine a savory version stuffed with garlic and cheese? Or maybe even a beef Wellington style?
Sausage and cheese mmmmm
For the Wellington, you could use meatballs too!
Or just a minced meat with chopped onions and mushrooms
I love all Barry lewsi videos
That looks so good, and i think you can also use a ice tray if you dont have a egg tray 😊
Cool!!! You could use the same technique and switch up the filling! - mincemeat for a Christmas mince pie version! Chicken and veg for a chicken pie version!!! The possibilities are endless!!!
Should have put the strawberries upside down so they fit in the carton better, support the chocolate better and keep the "hills" shape when baking.
That looked pretty tasty Barry, thanks for the video.
I love all Dungeoncraft videos
There's no limit to what you could put in this :D
Aren't eggs in the UK au naturel, meaning residue of poppycock (dutch for youknowwhat) in the trays? Not the added spice I would like.
You could also not fill the last section and only need one sheet of puff pastry and one chocolate mega bar.
It looks amazing!!!
This recipe originated from content farm.
It actually working out, at all, is surprising. Most content farms are unconcerned with their food content being possible or edible or dangerous.
U.S. egg cartons/boxes don't have overly tall spires like that. I think that's why you see the difference between the video and what you get in the shops.
EDIT: I was thinking you could take the richness of the filling up a level by making ganache and spooning that over the strawberries, allowing you to have more of a dark chocolate flavor against the fruit & cheese.
healthy version/ savory version
Once we get it in, we can then play around with it a little bit 😂 (insert Steve Carell from the office gif) “that’s what she said”
Yeah, I don’t think he’s trimmed his. Not only have I never seen a 10 pack of eggs, I’ve never seen a box with those divots so high.
Massive lol would have looked like eiffel towers lol
This is fantastic!.... even i can do this!..... i'm gonna try this one!
Great video mate , keep up the good work
usually I've seen this done with ice cube trays, which seems much easier.
I would’ve put some aluminum foil on the inside, just so you wouldn’t get salmonella or some other germ that may be inside of the carton. I would definitely have to use a different kind of fruit because I don’t like cooked strawberries.
that looks amazing!
This would be delicious as a s'mores version ❤
Wow amazing
You did WONDERFUL in this video darlin!!! ❤😊❤
I've never seen an egg carton other than 6ct or 1 dozen and NEVER has those spikes in the center. 🤔 Not really hygienic to stick (unwashed egg) directly into the flour. The US eggs are washed, that's why they have to be refrigerated. 😉
so used to eggs being sold by the dozen or half-dozen (12- or 6-pack) here in the US, seeing that UK 10-pk surprised me a bit
yeah we have 6 & 12 too, I wasn't sure if i'd get 10
This 10 thing is a fairly recent development. Most supermarket eggs now come in 6s, 10s and 15s, but some places only do 6s and 12s. Depends where you go. Sadly, all the places I shop only do 10s instead of 12s.
I prefer making my own pastry, the sheets are just not as good imo, but it may puff up too much for it to be helpful in this recipe. It's a cool idea though
I love how much debate there is in the chat about the egg box being for 10 eggs 😂
#aneggcellentdebate
I always wondered what would happen if you covered a chocolate easter bunny in pastry dough and baked it
You should make a smore's version of this!
Fantastic 💫❣️
What dystopian world are we living in that sells 10 eggs? Where are the other two? Is this due to Inflation?
It was always 10, 6 or 30 where i live 😅 maybe it is warying from country to country
@@SailorCanisMajoris Must be a British thing then. I'm in the US.
Surely you lived on the eggs, not the edge with that dunk in the flour.. :D
Barry mate. That egg carton isn't food safe and neither is the egg shell that you used.
I like my desserts without bacteria. Cheers.
Our American eggs cartons don’t have those spiky bits. I feel like they’re pretty dirty too
there is so much you can do with this method. Sweet or savoury. Oooh, little Buffalo Chicken bombs. Or go full inception style and make an omelette mixture to pour into each pocket (though you'd definitely need to seal (...) each "egg pod" more.
Sorry, my brain is stuck on 10 eggs. 10? I’ve never seen a carton for 10 eggs. Ever. 😮
If you're worried about germs when you press the egg into the pastry, would using cling film stop that happening?
The plastic egg cartons make more sense because you can wash them. No telling how many people have pawed at those cartons. I've seen people open them up, finger a bunch of them and decide they dont like them even when none are broken.
Remember the washable egg cartons. I've had groceries delivered with broken eggs. Good to have those plastic cartons saved because I wouldn't keep my eggs in cardboard cartons after yolk is spilled in it.
Plastic egg cartons? Not seen those in the supermarket for a while but good call, we have the one that comes with the fridge though
I get omelette puddles when i make challah bread.
Whoa, UK eggs don't come in a dozen? Ive never seen a 10-egg carton!
When you said it was made "from" an egg carton I was worried - I know times are hard but I hoped people weren't eating cartons.
03:36
Living on the Edge?
Did you mean
Living on the Egg...?
wahey!
In the US egg cartons are considered a single use item as they can carry germs, and diseases...
You could line it with cling film etc to get around it perhaps
oh cool i’ve never seen 10 eggs! we mostly have 12, 18, occasionally 6.
I want to try this without the strawberry😂❤❤❤❤
8:33 OUCH! been there mate! We gotta learn to let this stuff cool down right? 😅😅🔥🔥
yep!
@@mrbarrylewisyep
@@mrbarrylewisYep 😊?❤❤?
I like to imagine you ate all the eggs in one sitting just so you can have an empty carton
I have never seen an egg carton that only holds 10 eggs. All of ours are 12. We have small ones of 6 as well or a flat of 30.
You did 'before...' and then didn't follow it up. Where's my 'after!', Baz? Where is it?! 😀
haha sorry! Good call
You're fear of raw eggs is highly amusing, it's like you follow every American old wive's tale in the book 😂
Food poisoning issues can definitely cause concern that is passed down generation to generation.
I typically don't eat raw tomatoes from restaurants because of a salmonella outbreak in my area where a few people died and hundreds were sick from multiple different restaurants supplied by the same supplier.
Just because the food supply in your area is really good doesn't mean it's really good in every area
I'm baffled by the thought that he didn't just lay out the first pastry sheet and gently roll it out to be slightly larger to fit. Cool vid though.
Hey Barry, just noticed that your playlist is in the reverse order. Under the video it says that this is episode 1 when, in fact, it should be labeled as episode 173. Not sure if there is a setting you can change on the playlist.
Thanks I will try sorting that out now ... and then hopefully this comment will not make sense lol... thanks Thomas appreciate the nod
@@mrbarrylewis no probs
@@mrbarrylewis looks like some of your other playlists are the same. Some are some aren’t lol
our egg cartons don't have those high peeks
Today I learned not all eggs come in multiples of 6 😂 A dozen is the most common egg carton here but you can get packs of 6, 18, and 24 eggs as well
So British boxes of eggs only have 10 eggs here in America they have an even dozen
They look like Lego bricks!
haha yes, reminds me of the lego waffle maker
One thing to consider; the original video appears to be based in the north america, where they wash their eggs (which makes them prone to infection with nasties, but that's another issue!), our eggs (as in, rest-of-the-world!) on the other hand are as they come from the chicken's bum, ploppy bits and all, so really, it is rather unsanitary to use egg containers for food really, or dip eggs in your flour, it's a potential e-coli risk... :S
isn't that cardboard dirty?
I have never seen a carton with 10 eggs either. I am also from US and have only seen 6 or 12.
This really should of been in a kitchen hack... What do you do if you dont have a muffin pan but you really want to do some sort of baking...
02:09 that's what she ...
wouldn't advice doing this; In some parts in the world eggs are washed before put in cartons (these eggs need to be kept refrigerated) in other parts of the world eggs arent washed (can be kept unrefrigerated) shelf life of unwashed eggs can be longer but the cartons have a higher chance to carry pathogens like salmonella.
wait.. eggs in the UK come in 10 packs?!
6,10,12
Aren't the strawberries upside down?
You (UK) don’t get a dozen eggs anymore? 🤔
here eggshells are not clean. SO I would not use the carton, and I would not use eggs to made indentures into dough
and after looking it up, the UK has the same approach to eggs as belgium...
Disney pickle corn dog
I find it strange that your eggs come in sets of ten and not a dozen.
I'm actually impressed with this one I was expecting the usual TikTok Abomination 😂 but this could be used for all types of recipe ideas from sweet to savory 👍
Most egg cartons where the live are styrofoam
Ice-cream?
10 eggs? I've only seen dozen and 18 eggs....
I would use a ceramic egg holder..germs in the cardboard box 🤢
this ends very quickly than usual. please film letting your family & the guy tasting the food and their reactions
Still waiting for it to cool down ;)
10 eggs? Why did you get shorted 2 eggs? Eggs come in half dozen, dozen, two dozen…
Please let your food especially a pastry cool before eating it >.
A whole chocolate sounds excessive and it can burn . Nutella would be better and less messy.
I thought the same, but the pastry kind of shielded it all as it wasn't exposed so all good, but Nutella would be good :)
@@mrbarrylewis That is surprising. I have to try this concoction out.
There isn't any danger of food poisoning or contamination with this, is there?
