I bought a 395 just because I love chain saws. I don't even have a wood stove but I like cutting firewood with my friends.
That is awesome!!
Sounds like aggressive wood bees! Those XPs really do a good job with a sharp chains.
Yes they do cut!
Love how them XP’s cut strait makes splitter work way nicer 😀
Yup, good saws.
Big saws blowing big chips equals Big Fun in the Woodyard🪵👍
Yes!!!
Great job by all Thanks for sharing Chris 👍
Glad you enjoyed it as always Frank!
Great show as always. Really liked that big bar. And you have some good guys to work with. And the kitty cats like you too.
Thanks , yes I sure do!
Goodmorning Chris ,big bar = $$$$$.Keep on cutting keep on chucking. Have a blessed day.
Yup, I know it was a few sheckles.
Sharp saws make cutting easier. Big smile on Chris' face when he talks about cutting. Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
We like to cut!
Welcome to my world Chris. In my area with a lot of the big Eucalyptus tree removals big saws with long bars. Most of the time 48" or 60" bars once in a while got to put on the 72" bar.
Man would that be fun!!
Chris an the guys are chainsaw phonetics an you got to love it 👍👍👍🤣 sure love that power As a child I could hear the Saws revving and cutting firewood listening to it now brings back memories it sounds like and seems like an is like getting ready for winter getting your wood in your building or your basement to keep warm awesome sound
You got that right!
Nice big ass saw. And you sold me on the Woodchuck tool. Ordering one today. Thanks!
Very good, you will like it!
Love the big wood and the big saws. That 592xp is a fast saw.
Yup, me to it is fun!
That big stuff adds up cordage quick to.
Great video. Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Bert got the big gun , you have to eat a nice deer steak before you work with that machine, great show as always! Thank you guys!
Yup, it is a big boy!
I had a 40"+ silver maple trunk last year. Tree service cut it about 38" to move it. I just busted out the wedges and made boiler wood for a friend. Makes a huge pile quick. Luckily mine wasn't knotty or twisted so it wasn't a long game of chasing wedges. Silver pops apart pretty easy when it's straight
Yup, I chased a lot of wedges as a young man splitting ELM...Satan wood!!!
They look well maintained. I'm amazed at how many saws I've worked on that haven't seen much maintenance, check your clutch when you replace the rim sprocket (helps keep the chain from stretching right away) and grease the needle bearings (so it doesn't eat up the crankshaft) when you remove the cluch and they'll even longer.
Thanks for the tips!
All good tips to increase the longevity of your saws. The two tips I was taught when I bought my first pro saw, a Stihl 036 (1992-Made in Germany) was to let them warm up for at least a minute before giving it full throttle/load, and let it cool down for an equal amount of time after a long/extended period of cutting.
@@obxkoastie8170 Yup, I agree totally!
Nice job Woodyard. Big saws are impressive. Westcoast of lake Michigan saws. Some one must be a skilled tuner for the 3's. Bert takes good care of his stuff. GNI
Yes he does but that is Adams saw.
Nice cutting , both of you ! That what a long bar for .
Yup, it works good on the Abby wood....Abbynormal.
Nice logs nice cutting, packing the big saw is a good weightloss plan.
Wish I had snow here. We got 33 and rain as always
I am glad it finally got cold here and the mud froze!
395xp...the last of the old breed.
Yup, they still make the 372 also as far a s I know.
Great video Chris 👍❤
Glad you enjoyed it Todd!
Wow Chris, you have a great crew helping you out doing all that cutting! Maybe you’ll have to consider getting another 592xp or 395xp if you keep getting all of that big free tree service wood. Looks like a great deal to me! Hope everything continues to work out for you and can’t to see more firewood content in the future! GNI
Thanks Wayne! That's the plan!
@@sihmonsimcha If you watch videos from several months back he has one already.
That 42 inch would have come in handy several times for me but I got er done 👍🏻
It is a biggie!!!
Watching This saw malarky I fancy a new stihl 462 , that’s big enough for what I get wood wise. Always been a stihl man Chris 😁😬👍
I have run a few 462 and a bunch of 500 and they are great saws.
Your woodyard cohort s look like they will definitely help you with content creation! I wish you continued success. Have a great Sunday
@@jeanvaljohn3921 what lol
There were alot of short logs in the 2 rows that were finished up being cut in this video. The next row will mostly go thru processor except the ones that are too big or too crooked.
Yup, they are great guys!
Nice saw - Big Bertha!
Yup, it does cut!
Good morning Chris!!😀😀
Hello Al!
I keep thinking about getting a 42" bar for my 395 to go along with the 32 that it normally wears... but I keep getting my big stuff done with the 32. And you guys are right, the 395 really likes the gas.
she is a thirsty girl!
My 372 drinks like a fish. Hate to see what a 395 would be like.
@@billypitts6368 Bucking the big rounds with the 395 where my 32" bar is buried (40+ inch wood) I can buck off 6-8 rounds or so, and it's time to refuel. I think the fuel tank holds just over a quart. Like Chris said... she's a thirsty girl! If I'm running the 395, I can easily empty my 2 gallon saw gas jug before lunchtime. But, keep in mind, if you've ran 2 gallons of gas through a 395, you've cut a LOT of wood too.
And if you're over 40, when the tank goes empty, it's time to take a break anyway. The 395 is a young man's saw... it will wear you out.
I like the 390XP
Yup, it is a good one!
hi there lots of saw and bar , john
Yes sir it sure is!!
Chris you gotta love that Elm that’s some good heat right there. It’s 20 degrees out side and 80 degrees inside. Who says you have to go to Florida to warm up. Keep on cutting
You got that right!
you do get a full wrap heated handle that use exhaust heat, if its freezing its a must have
Awesome! Big is Good! Well Dun!
Yup, all wood is good wood!
👍, likin’ the cuttin man
Thanks!
Wow, you have so convinced me to buy a 592xp. FAST!!!!!! And not just because you sped up the videos, lol ;) Nice saw. Keep up the great videos brother! Cheers!
You wont be let down.
It is like a crotch rocket!!
that saw is a beast.
Yup, it cuts!
Look at those chips coming off the 42! Bad ass.
Yup, it cuts!
The 592 sure is a screaming son of a buck. Fun to see the big bar in action.
Yup, both the 592 and 395 are great saws.
Not sure if mentioned but a plastic wedge can keep you from pulling on the stuck saw
Yup, I use them a lot, part of the problem with a big log and a skip tooth chain is they are not very good at self cleaning the saw dust chips out of the kerf.
Dang big bar!!
It will cut!
@@InTheWoodyard That big of bar needs a hog to turn it and a bear of a man to run it!! Well done guys!!
Talk about a nightmare on Elm Street then you have your Ash handed to you just to get to the cotton, and the Spruce! The Woodcats even stayed away until the Monster Bar was done. Was that the Maple kind?........🥓🥓😄
Yes it was soft maple.
😂😂😂
I have the same saw I p bought brand new tru 2018 April love it
Nice.
Dang that 395 sure is impressive!!👍👍 GNI
Yup, it is a great saw!
Wow a brand new 395 and a 42” bar and chain…2000 dollar purchase right there! Most of my logs are big like that maple, I just run a 32” bar on my 395’s, keeps the rpm’s higher and just cut one side and then cut the other, roll them over with the excavator and finish them off, then you grab the coins with the bucket and thumb and chuck them into a giant pile until it’s time to munch them up into splits so the guy’s can put them on the log splitters and turn them into…money!
Its not a new 395. Adam has had that for a few years. Keeping your saws well maintained and clean makes them look newer. The 42 in bar was new.
Yup, a 32" bar will give you a 60"+ cut, I have never cut a tree that big here. West coast yes but here a 40" tree is rare and a 50" is like a Sasquatch.
It's definitely a big bar.. I have a 32-inch bar on my MS461. See you tomorrow 😁GNI
Yup, to big for me and my scrawny arms.
Good Morning!😉
Hello!
Morning Chris. She cuts Eh ? Pretty cool to see dee ol ‘92. Carnage has been completed.
GoodNightIrene
Yup, cut they do!
Young guy 390 xp not sharpen right , Chris your chainsaw was cutting right need to be touch up now . Good thing the 42” had a new chain on it to be right straight. Now went you sharpen it see if cut threw the 38” straight them you know if you can sharpen a chainsaw right . Bigger the log them you and your buddy know about filing a chainsaw. PRACTICE on 38” and bigger. Wish you were with me tmw I’m cutting a couple off semi loaded off yellow pine 28” to 56” at butt around little over 100’ little stuff in height. Use my 2195 jonsered with a 28” bar & 24” bar . Today 01-22-23 relaxing just cooking organic moose roast with organic vegetables from the garden. Take care GREAT VIDEO keep up great work.
Thanks Leonard, will do!
Nice saw. Burt needs to put lights up on side the barn so y'all can cut more. Have a great day be safe.
There are they were put up the day Tyler was helping cut.
They are up!
Chainsaw music 🎶 is back !
You got that right!
I have that 592 XP, that saw doesn't play around!😎
Yup, it is a very serious saw.
I think you've finally found a crew that works as hard as you do! Might be time to consider something like a Splitfire splitter for the front of the skidsteer if you're going to continue with big tree service wood. Bert would make short work of those huge blocks without laying a hand on them!
He has one! maybe a dozen videos ago.
He does have one already, it was a few videos ago and you will see it again.
yup!
@@InTheWoodyard I guess I have a pretty short memory because I watched that video. I remember the plate on the ram side was bent back on the bottom edge.
Slab wood is the meat and potatoes well worth the effort
Thanks for watching!
I never like havin my back facin a cutting chain saw behind me. How many cc's in power head runnin 42" bar . Ideal place for big block power-head w/long bar, your not packin saw very far, you always have saw close to where you need it. Big saw is good for big tree service wood.
Yup, big saws are for big wood.
🤘
Thanks for watching!!!
Chop chop let’s go !
Yup!
Hi Crisis, got a question, I got a Stihl using a 3/16 file can I sharpen a husqvarna chain with the 3/16 the same way
That all depends on the pitch of the chain. Different chain pitches use a different file
Probably, try it and you will know if the file fits right away, if not you will need a smaller file size.
YUP!
Have to get that bar on the 592 for comparison.
We will do that!
@@InTheWoodyard I have a 395 and would be curious if the 592 does better with its more high revving nature!
What do you guys do with all of that sawdust?
Some is used for the chickens on the farm and some will be spread in the crop fields and the rest will be burned.
interesting, wish i could cut chunks out like that for this long of time, my blades go dull quickly with mesquite and oak
Yup, all chains get dull and need sharpening if you cut a lot.
is the new husky 395 one of the "made in brazil" major oil leak models? they put the serial plate rivets right into the oil tank without sealant.....
I do not know, I will check!
May I ask where you bought your 42 inch bar.I could use one for my 395 . Thanks.
He got it at Evergreen power in Little Chute
Most dealers sould have one or be able to get one.
That saw was a really big boy toy.
Yup!
👍👍👍
Thanks TRIO thumbs!
That big bar made quick work of that maple log. Surprised that “dog” of a saw could run it. Lol. Kidding just kidding. I know friends don’t let friends “Stihl”. And One of the big ten “thou shall not stihl”. 😂
Haa! You got that right, now get you dad re-educated!!!
@@InTheWoodyard if you think teaching an old Dog (a husky guy) new tricks is tough. Try teaching the man of Stihl (virtually a god) new tricks. Not going to happen, he is already on the next level. Lol. (He paid me to say this) but seriously he’s the smartest father I have.
@@smorefirewood You are right he is the smartest, fastest, best looking, toughest, meanest, handsomest, slimmest, strongest, funniest dad you have, enjoy!
Skip tooth chains seem to work better on longer bars I think, I bought some for my 20 inch bars by mistake once and tried them; got quite a bit of vibration. Also soft or "green" wood seems to work better. Hardwood??? maybe, if you use the semi-chisel. All of this drivel is my opinion of course, others may differ in their views!!!!! Have a great chainsaw DAY fellars!!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Great point! I agree, maybe softwood and big wood for skip tooth, everything else full!
@@InTheWoodyard Only told part of the story as there is both semi skip and full skip.
Do you do much work with cottonwood?I tried running a bunch through my boiler and that was the only time I've ever had my fire go out.can a guy ever get it dry enough to be decent?
If you split it and get it to dry it burns fine in a boiler just dont get as long of a burn time as what you get from ash or sugar maple.
Yup, it drys fine, I split it no thicker than 3-4".
yup
That's a pretty standard setup for the Pacific Northwest in Washington I have a 372xp 32in bar I also have a 385 bored out to a 390 with a 32in bar do you know any good chainsaw builders in your neck of the Woods I have a 372 XPW that needs complete rebuild
Take it to your closest saw shop. I do not usually try to save old saws, I sell them, trade them in or part them out and buy a new one, but I like new stuff so I might be weird.
👍👍
Thanks!
Wow what power those saws have, what is the cc's
The big ones are like 90cc!
If I remember correctly it is 92 or 93 ccs
👍
Thanks TB!
Too bad you didn't have an Alaskan Mill attachment for the 395xp and 42" bar, could have made some nice slabs from that Maple crotch.
Yup, if I was in the slab business. I sell firewood though.
Slicin and dicin! 👍🏻👍🏻GNI
Yup!
Big bar
Yup!
The singing huskies
Yes!!!
The bar oil ports are too small on OREGON bars.. hence chain stretch.. I've drilled mine out bigger.. more oil gets to the bar rails..🤠👍
Okay!
Any ideas floating about on getting a 3120xp for the monster wood?
Bigger is always better. A 3120 would be fun to run but so would a v8 hotsaw too.
@@BertsCustomCuts got any V8 engines sitting around? LOL, the 3210xp would be too heavy for my tastes to run all the time.
@The Firewood Doctor (Homestead Fabricator) I have 2 big block 350s in 2old trucks and they both were running 8 years ago.
Maybe so!!!
Haaaaa! Why not a v10 or a v12!!!
The 42 bar really lowers the rpms on the 395. But it eats well.
Yup, long bars do that.
395 makes most it's power down low not like the 592 so loading it up isn't a bad thing and it oils heavy so low rpm it's still ripping. If you go by spec it's making the same torque as a 592 at 6000 rpm so pretty low in rev range.
I'd a thunk that the 42" bar would've run even better on the 592. Anybody know if that's true?
We have not yet tried it but we will!
😁👍
Thanks!
The 3 series saws are the best Husqvarna produced in my opinion. Not so keen on these new 5 series. My 562 has already been back to the shop for repairs within the warranty period. My old 365 has got plenty of life left in it apart from the wear and tear on the plastics etc. Also managed to grab a 395 xp before the shops sold out here in the uk. Can't find a new 372 or 365 anywhere!
They still make the 372, people (loggers) love them.
@@InTheWoodyard the 372 is a cracking saw. No one stocks them over here anymore. I've been looking for one but no stock.
I could buy one from the US maybe?😉
I hope any issues I may have in the future with my 5 series saws happen during the 5 year warranty.😉
@@iffykidmn8170 5yr? Wow, only 12 month here!!
@@squallymedal8516 Yes 5yrs if you purchase 3qts of their premixed fuel at time of purchase, says nothing about having to use it 🙃just purchase so about $45 for extending to 5yrs.
Some guys like to spend a long time AT the BAR 🍺
Other guys like to spend time using a long BAR ☝🏼
Yes!!!!! I like it!
Are theses pieces to big for the processor?……just wondering
Yes by about 20-30" to big the processor can handle 22" max.

Well it's 8 am I appcriate your great Content I used a big 8ft bar Flat on one side and point on the other side it was easy to flip a log with to my friend on Sparta / Fort Army Airfield,, from Walnut Ridge Army Airfield, it's 49° low near 32° tonight so be careful and Thank you for the motivation I got to sharpen 3 Chainsaws I do like you take 3 or 4 with me but when they all need sharpened a grey day like today will be perfect to get some stuff done in my shop,👍 I guess you take care of the Assuming Northwest of Fort McCoy Army Airfield an I'll do the same, I get out there an say to myself what would the good man "In the wood yard do" 👍 P.S. I got the same Chaps as well!
Yup, just keep cuttin'!
Those 5 series are sure screamers and will cut, but I will always like the 3 series sound better! They just mean business...💪
All saws are good if they run and are sharp!
They all cut the same when the cain is dull too.
@bert brei You were sure cruising for minute today...and then the fun came to an abrupt halt!
@Wayne Tharp that's why I have a minimum of 3 chains for each saw and each bar. Change when dull and keep cutting. Sharpen in shed when its dark outside.
The 592 has a bark all of its own stock, with a muffler mod it howls.
Where is your measuring apparatus? Lol!!
mantap
okay.
kind of looked like a government job there at the end. 1 worker and 3 supervisors :-)
Ha!!!!! Yes!!!
Thats what it takes to get the camera angles.
Good morning everyone
Hello!!!
Where is all this monster wood coming from? Is this stuff the tree services dropped off
Yup, free tree service wood.
I don't really see where a 42 inch bar is necessary for that size wood no disrepect but we run husky 254s with no more than a 18 inch bar cutting pulp for at least 16 18 years it looks like overkill to me
Yup, I agree, but it is fun! I prefer a 24" on my saws, a lot less bending over, I used to run all 20" and now I hate running 20" bars all day, my back eventually gets tired...but I am old. But that was about 54"at the widest so a little 18 inch would not cut it... literally.

Haaa! Good one!
The 3 series saws are so much easier to work on. My opinion.
Yup, IF you like to work on them. I don't so I just get the 5s!
Chris I got out and cut up some cherry yesterday! Used my new Sthil 462! They were about 8 inch rounds and the saw cut it like butter! I got a new problem! Saw fever! I want a another saw! I want a smaller saw! Maybe like a 281 with an 18 inch bar! Just clearing out small places around I find myself in a lot of 3 to 4 inch wood! It’s good hardwood but it’s got to get cut too! What do you think??
You need something much bigger to break that saw in properly .reving,it full speed on a tiny branch before rings seat.isnt good for saw. Find a 30 to 50 inch log somewhere to break it in .on.there on side road all over from other tree services
You have been bitten by the chainsaw bug!!!!! (there is no cure, except many a numerous saws)
Haha that’s true I have got bitten by the same bug it’s contagious 😂👍👍
Saw Fever is right! This morning on FB there was a Wood Boss calling to me for $75. It took every ounce of strength I had not to go buy it.

G'day Chris, I've got a 48 inch bar on my MS880 my wife says I'm over compensating what ever that means 🤔.'
Haaaaa!
At least you don't have to bend
Not sure what you mean by that? Bend as in when you are cutting ? Yes you do if that is what you are stating?? When cutting with a big bar on a big log you have to bend to keep the bar level so the tip does not hit the ground.
Are you “eye balling “ the lengths when cutting?
#ziptie cat whiskers 😊
no, not with big wood they where measured and pre-marked.
That 592 sure has a whiny note when u pin it on the limiter every 5 secs…

I am not sure what you are trying to say??
I can't wait to see the 6000 cords of firewood that you're going to produce before 1 June 2023. LOL!
