    I was listening to this piece at full volume & my next door neighbor liked it so much that he threw a brick through my window so he could hear it better! I feel deeply honoured by their genuine appreciation for this masterpiece. 🎇

    Mahler understood the human condition better than any composer of his time. This is what the human spirit sounds like.

    If someone should ask you why you love Mahler, direct them to this video. If they still don't get it, they probably never will.

    One of its great motifs is "I'll Be Seeing You in All the Old Familiar Places" in fantastic orchestral garments. Beautiful, ravishing.

    I’m currently reading, P. Roth’s, “The Human Stain”. This masterpiece is the selection following the eulogy of Coleman Silk. A beautiful expression captured here and in the book. Thanks for sharing.

    The Mahler 3rd and the Tchaikovsky 6th were the first symphonies to end with slow movements. They were composed at roughly the same time, but the Tchaikovsky 6th was premiered first.

      Mahler really put everything he had into the Second and Third to enrapture you for over an hour, all in preparation to completely rip your heart apart at the finale.

    Eh... è talmente bello che si vorrebbe che non finisse ma, in questo caso, non sarebbe un finale. Quindi si desidera che finisca, anche se dispiace che lo faccia. Perché si vorrebbe che non finisse. :)

    Throughout the climactic passage of the long brass chorale, the trombones are divided in two-part harmony. It's my contention that two more trombones should be added, so that there are three on a part. They have trouble keeping up with the piercing trumpets and 8 (or 9) horns.

    The final moments with the steady beats is clearly influenced by Parsifal. Poor Sinopoli, breathing so hard already...while the music is overwhelming indeed.

    • @ingorichter649
      @ingorichter649 4 месяца назад

      Inspired by Parsifal - regarding to the noble brass sections I agree, but I think the message of this mighty orchestral album here is the entire universe and not only the German saga.

      youre entitled to your opinion because music is subjective and many people do complain about length, since this is the longest symphony in the standard repetoire. (the longest symphony ever written was the "Gothic" by Havergal Brian. Aside from the length, I dont think I have ever heard anyone ever say this is too noisy! Very strange taste!
