Brilliant, Robbie I don't know why I didn't think of this. I have been scratching my head trying to figure a way to put an antenna up at the house that I can take down, quick and easy, when the wind kicks up. Brilliant Idea, thanks for sharing. I don't know how much more scratching my balding head could handle. Thanks Dan WRFG362
The extra wire coil you have, may be acting as a choke to help lower the static further. Look at the online instructions for a UHF Base HAM radio antennas. The instructions may tell you to put "X" number of coils of "X" diameter to help improve the signal. Great job getting the antenna above that box you had. Later switching to LMR400 coax may help you get more power to the antenna. But since you are getting out, you are in good shape as is.
Thank you very much. I wanna update the coax in a little while. And I hear that the coils help as a choke. It's definitely working light years better!!
Wraps like that are commonly used as an RF choke, it keeps the coax from radiating. If it does, not only is it a waste of power, but it can (and probably will) distort the antenna pattern. Just a suggestion, but if you want the best effect, it should be at the antenna. 8 wraps of coax around a two liter pop bottle and then tape/ziptie.
Whats going on 511. I didn't realize that you had a youtube channel. Found you by accident. Heard you the Other day out there on the Roadkill and miss you out there on Zello. Matt WRWV899/ KJ5DOT
Hey! Yeah, it's me!!! I started this page awhile back for my cb stuff. And ended up getting into GMRS and switched over. I got another phone and never added Zello back on. I forgot about it. Then doing other things. But, I'm doing good. Glad to hear from you. I'm definitely still on Roadkill.

Absolutely not a problem! I'm glad that I can help. Just here to share my experience and hope it helps others too.
Outstanding idea!
That's a nice pole! I'm going to wait for Harbor Freight's next sale to get one.
Having the ability to collapse it down in sections is perfect!
It's absolutely marvelous!!!!
dude sweet setup! 10m has been wild fun and open. 73!
Excellent idea !
