Funny: in my main choir I wouldn't be surprised if statistically the Altos had the melody most frequently. We mostly sing songs that mix pop and jazz elements.
This is Joleen I'm just using martins phone rn lol. But when I was in misissinewa schools I had a choir teacher, Ms Walters, who was absolutely amazing, you reminded me do much of her. I believe she retired around a year or so ago and I haven't seen her in years , but this brought so many memories. I still sometimes look on RUclips and watch some of the shows that had been uploaded. And this Is one of my favorite songs especially when I'm sad. So thank you for uploading this because it brought a huge smile to me during the hard times I'm having.
You should join a barbershop chorus - many altos spend all their time singing the melody (except those that are gluttons who sing baritone... and yes I am a baritone).
No such thing as wrong notes imo, although many different versions can exist simultaneously; everyone is entitled to sing and express as is right for them. The original version doesn’t need to be replicated. Did you enjoy this though? X

As an alto, i believe the impossible has occurred, the altos sing melody! We NEVER get any half decent alto parts at my school

Out of the 4 years i've sung choir as an alto, i have NEVER been able to sing the melody. Not once 😭

I agree. I think the basses sing Sol-Fa-Do-Sol and the sopranos Sol-La-La-Sol.
