He truely was missing in the later games of Piranha Bytes. Björn never was able to create a world that was as immersive and fun to be playing in as he was.

@captaineierstock2278 While reading your comment, I thought about, how Mike Hoge for Gothic is like Cor Angar for the Brotherhood ,
both being so devoted for the Thing,
while Björn Pankratz would be more like Cor Calom, self centered and more comittted to the thing, that HE think is right, rather than the thing itself. :p

@@bomfirit75 Yes! In fact, they all did a splendid job!
I often think, that Gothic maybe could have been as important as The Witcher, if this game was released years later,
when gaming became more common and was no "niche-market" anymore.
      Maybe!
Fun fact, I randomly met Björn and Jenny once at a train station.
And as a hardcore Gothic Fanboy, of course I had to step up to them and tell them how Gothic really is the best game ever and wanted to thank them.
He was a bit off annoyed and his answer came out a bit rude. Jenny excused him for his rudeness, explainig, that they wanted to move on.
I think they were developing Elex 1 at that time and kind of wanted to forget that old and yeah kind of tragic story behind developing Gothic...

Michael Hoge created one of the best and most immersive games I have ever played in my life. I hope he will come back with a better setup.

21:20 Yeah, that feeling quickly turned away once you learn that this is the basic sword for this chapter. I feel, to incentivise this more, they should have given that sword at least 10 more damage so that it's not just the same as a random sword. That's why I never even got that interaction until like 10 years later where I deliberately tried out how much certain NPCs would react.

That's going to be great! Even the first few slides about the Gothic idea. It's funny because I enjoyed Prince of Persia 3d A LOT before playing Gothic, even though it was pretty clunky sometimes. I wish modern games would follow these Principles more, an alive world, Items should really be benefitial, texts short but detailed, so you don't need a minimap, and so on. And all of this is much easier to achieve with a smaller world. Unfortunatly big maps are seen as a quality sign somehow :(
