The fun thing is.. you don't even need to buy this... You can just print out a bunch of sheets of the island.. and use six regular d6 dice.. just associate every side with one resource... e.g. 1 = lumber, 2 = brick.. etc... If you own Catan you can even use six hexes and the pieces for roads, settles and cities... Use the knight cards to place on the hex when purchased and just flip it over when spent... Actually that sounds like a fun solo game, I'll go ahead and try it myself
Thank you so much for the simple explanation. The instructions for the game were so confusing to me, and you explained it so simply that my A.D.D. brain understood your tutorial the first time around.
Excellent! You did a much better job than the included instructions! BTW: This coming from a professional jet pilot and trained aerial robotics engineer. I like your style: straight to the point, clear, concise, reasonably paced instruction. Subscribed!
The easy explanation is, "It's Yahtzee, but with limited options on what combo you can get each turn." Don't try to build cities if you don't have roads connecting to them. Likewise, building only roads won't get you many points. You need to balance the risk and rewards of each goal while continuing to build something each turn. Island 2 could be a good intro to Catan's scoring system, if you're having trouble getting people to play with you.
Saw this and got it for a friend But wanted to play it before I get a 2nd copy for his gift Now to my question is each player’s sheet is independent of one another or do you mark off on your sheet what the other the players are doing?

In theory you can use pencils, but it won't look good after awhile. You get a whole pad of score cards, plus you can order more or print them off. If you really want to try reusable pads, try laminating one and using whiteboard marker.
More accessible though. Just tell your friends it's similar to Yahtzee, and they'll pick up on it. Play a round, then introduce Island Two. That'll get them used to Catan's scoring system. Hopefully from there you can bring out the full game without driving them away.

Not even same level of fun as the actual components. The dice are etched with the symbols not just maintenance on
I just got it for like 5. I’ve never played catan before, thought it was a good introduction

I feel you! Having to re-re-re-re-read instructions is such a pain.. Much easier to have it explained by someone.

Cringey self-indulgent comment lol
Very useful video. Thank you so much. You earned my subscription
Awesome, thank you!
Thanks for the info

Gonna make me one of these, to try it out.
Thanks for the video!
Wow Lovely..this was helpful
Game made simpler
I have a question, after my turn what happens to my remaining resources that I could not use to build anything
So knights must be built in order but don’t require an adjacent road or settlement?
Correct. Game does not mention anything about needing any road or settlement for a knight.
Thanks

Each player gets their own score card, similar to Yahtzee.
minimum number of players?
One, you can play this solo if you want and try to get the best score possible
How many more dice variants do we need?!
There will be one for every popular card game
I think a lot

@@oscarbautista4156 I think it's more fun have the actual dice game.
Just as many 2 player duel variants.
2:46 "Knigts" 🤣🤣
is/will this avalible on mobile?
Just imagine if they had an app instead of paper!
The catan app is really bad
I thought you could only take a third roll if you re rolled all the dice you had set aside?
Do you have to use pens or can you use pencils and erase them after?
It comes with a pad of game boards. You just write on one piece of paper/board then throw that board away when done

Is it just me or are the included instructions for the dice game really bad?
They were not the best, which was weird because the Original games had really great directions.
He rubs his hands together to roll dice, like dudes rub their hands together when they see a booty they like.
2:46 chess players will not appreciate this game
Not as fun as normal catan
