The fact that QC threw a special Garden Party for young Tony & Lily brings a tear to my eyes. These beautiful kids overcame terrible circumstances with a positivity to help others less fortunate and by raising miions of dollars they've made great strides in those causes. I signed the Petition yesterday against Harry receiving the Tilman award. If you remember, Harry did NOT set up the Invictus Games at all. It was the Royal Foundation and it was William, Catherine and the King. After a while, they gave it to Harry to give him something to do. All he's done since he married is to bring it down. It's the people behind the scenes at Invictus who should get the award if anything. Not Harry.
There isa video of Harry himself saying words out of his own mouth that he was sent to watch the Warrior Games (presumably by someone related to the MOD or Royal Foundation, or the Palace) to see if it would be a good idea to set up something along the same lines for Commonweath countries to participate in. In school, we discussed bowing/curtsying to a monarch. In a nutshell, we were told we were not expected to bow because we are Americans and we have no monarchy here--which is why many of us are angry when Harry and Megan want to be called by their titles. If they want to be treated like royalty, they need to live somewhere else. I think the panel doesn't understand what a hero Pat Tillman was to a lot of Americans and giving that award that was meant to honor his love of country and sense of duty to someone who walked away from his duty, is a slap in the face to the Pat Tillman. Being a Canadian, I’ve met a few members of the Royal Family when they have visited. Because we don’t see the royals very often, the curtsy and bow were an afterthought. They are always so gracious.

As a loyal royal fan in the USA, I thought the custom of bowing and curtsying for a royal was a gesture of respect for the office which represents the whole country, and thus a bow or curtsy is a sign of respect for the country. This seems similar to the custom in the USA of standing when our president enters the room. This is proper whether or not you like the officeholder.

There are rumors & investigations into whether money intended for the veterans is being used to make Meghan happy. She cannot stand for others to get more attention than her. Meghan has turned Harry, who at times was more popular than the late Queen Elizabeth, and now he's one of the least liked. I signed the Petition yesterday against Harry receiving the Tilman award. If you remember, Harry did NOT set up the Invictus Games at all. It was the Royal Foundation and it was William, Catherine and the King. After a while, they gave it to Harry to give him something to do. All he's done since he married is to bring it down. It's the people behind the scenes at Invictus who should get the award if anything. Not Harry.

In a nutshell, we were told we were not expected to bow because we are Americans and we have no monarchy here--which is why many of us are angry when Harry and Megan want to be called by their titles. If they want to be treated like royalty, they need to live somewhere else.
I think the panel doesn't understand what a hero Pat Tillman was to a lot of Americans and giving that award that was meant to honor his love of country and sense of duty to someone who walked away from his duty, is a slap in the face to the Pat Tillman. ESPN really made a huge blunder with this.

Our family lived in Arizona during the time of 9-11. I remember when Pat Tillman signed up to fight. I also remember when he died. In no way should Harry accept this award. Pat Tillman is still remembered and honored throughout the state of Arizona. Pat Tillman honored his family, his Country and his Arizona Family. Harry is none of that.

Originally, Prince Harry, along with other members of the Royal Family, started the Invictus Games. Harry did well with the project so the other Royals pulled back & let Harry fly with it. And he thrived. However, the last few years, Harry has had to put up with his wife's presence & demands for a clothing allowance, specific adjustments to where they stay. There are rumors & investigations into whether money intended for the veterans is being used to make Meghan happy. She cannot stand for others to get more attention than her. Meghan has turned Harry, who at times was more popular than the late Queen Elizabeth, and now he's one of the least liked. At any time anything could have happened. I certainly will not minimize his sacrifice to his country like I will not deduce it from any other soldier female or male. Harry’s first tour of duty was 10 weeks. His 2nd tour was 20 weeks. He never served a full tour which everyone else serves. He didn’t serve 2 tours. That’s a fallacy.

IMO They have paid for this award also. There is obviously lots of controversy considering all questionable people who are involved and guaranteed money is greasing hands and favors provided. Pathetic.
A show of respect to those who deserve it is never unwarranted.
Pat Tillman gave up a life of fame and self glory to serve his country. Harry abandoned his country to serve himself. (I don't remember who said it first, but it's spot on!)
Prince Harry is not only a veteran himself who served his beloved country for ten years, completed not one but two tours to Afghanistan, left with honors to live out the rest of his time/life being a royal then a citizen. This certainly is not a man who deserted his country but served the UK. Let’s go apples to apples. Both men left their money behind to serve their country.
Then Prince Harry did not just stay a citizen like most of us here in comments who just live our lives for ourselves. We all saw what he did.
He championed the Invictus Games for the wounded veterans from all over the world, including Americans, to give them hope, dignity and honor. In my book he is a hero.
As an American I love our veterans. I love it when someone does something for them like what PH has done for them with The Invictus Games.

@veronicaleon8075 harry did not serve his country. He left his country and family with his narcissist wife to oersue fame. He barely did anything in the armed forces, was not intelligent enough to ascend the ranks in the forces so had to leave them. And he did not champion the invictus games. The royal family (including the now Prince and Princess of Wales) all came together and included Harry because he needed something to do with himself and his time.
