    Your film is a really valuable time document, since it is uncertain if No. 93 will return onto main line branches like that again. The sound and chuff from this remarkable vehicle is very pleasing. It's like stepping back in time to the early 20th century! :)

    Beautifully filmed. I really like the static camera and controlled use of zoom, letting the engine travel through the scene. The lingering clouds of steam are wonderful. The closing scene at dusk is fabulous, captures the atmosphere so well. Thank-you for sharing such a treasure.

    It was so great to see and hear (what a brilliant whistle) the Railmotor! It would have been nice to inside the driver's cab. It was rather a shame that there was so much smoke and steam (steam cleaning the rails?) that a lot of the view of the Railmotor was obscured.

      The Cylinder cocks are what is releasing so much steam. Steam condenses when met with cold cylinders first thing and water isn't compressible so to cylinder cocks release that water before any damage can occur

    Just watched this again on a new Panasonic OLED with sound through my hi-fi...you completely nailed it with this one, the sunlight hitting the steam & overall sonic ambience are pretty much unmatched here on RUclips, superb stuff!

    I've been looking forward to watching this all week and waited until I had time to sit down and see all the way through. My favourite bits: the morning sun on the steam in the first shot, the general scene-setting shots of the surrounding line (very nicely shot and edited), the St Keyne flyby (wow!), the beautiful shot of Coombe Junction station which looks like a picture-perfect branchline spot, and the return shot of Terras crossing - superb subject and camerawork to match. Thanks, Kris! Tim

    What an extrardinary machine! It seems to move at such speed, too.

    One of my earliest memories was being taken on a ride down this line as a child in the 1950s. I believe it set me on the road to a lifetime addiction! It is great to see the line again and that very rare machne!

    Makes me wonder how they fit the water tank and the coal into such a confined space. I know the boiler is vertical but still small. Power must be limited and the drivers area red hot!

    Echo the thoughts above, superb piece of motive power and a superb video, the line makes it as much as anything! If the Looe branch is eve under threat, GWS set up a sub shed, base the motor, the railcar and a pannier or prairie with some passenger stock and run it as a community railway! If only it were that easy he says...

    It really is an unusual machine, but a fantastic one nonetheless and the Looe Valley Line really is lovely. Ta for watching and commenting Dave =)

    Is this the equivalent of a modern day Class 153? Or was there a specific use for them in the day?

    So much steam from a relatively small boiler and water tank.

    How did the GWS manage to get no. 93 main line certified, or was there a special thing done to allow this? Great video, and great engine as well

    • @mattlander9119
      @mattlander9119 9 месяцев назад

      Probably by a special arrangement. Could be wrong but it's only a single track branch so as long as the Railmotor had the token it would be the only thing on the line
