Really nice job on the stormy scene out the window!

Thanks, I agree, that window and stormy scene was the highlight of the set. The window was made from a 24x36" piece of Plexiglass and the frame made in my workshop. My inspiration for the stormy window prop came from a video that the Hollywood Haunters made in 2015... I was able to ask a few questions on that old video and they replied promptly with helpful answers! I originally wanted to make the water drip down to make it look like it was raining, I had the pump and materials, but I ran out of time to make that effect... I will try it for 2025. I had my landscaper save a branch of a tree to set it up in the middle of the window and weighted it with sandbags, that gives it a 3D effect even though it's only 4 foot deep, the back against the wall is a Halloween scene setter purchased off of Amazon. I am planning, if time permits me, to make a behind the scenes video to show how all that was done, including the prop controller that did the lightning effects and controlled the changing portrait on the wall.

Pretty cool! Must have been very popular with the trick-or-treaters 🎃🖤

@susanowen1709 I think I had about 100 come through Halloween night, and maybe 10 on the next night. I'm used to having double that before the pandemic... I will say that the TOTs were excited to go in, but I think that the lack of the final prop really made them question if this was all that spooky. I had someone exclaim "IS THAT ALL !?!?" Well, kids are kids and they didn't know, there was so much more that I didn't have time to complete. For example, the window was going to have a rain effect like the Hollywood Haunters had done with their prop.

Pretty epic!!! I'm telling you you should sell those ship portraits!!! thats a lot of engineering in it! People would love to have that I'm thier haunts!

@CobwebsandCandlesticks Thanks, a tremendous amount of work went into that Haunted Mansion set. And I agree with you that the pirate ship, and potentially other changing portraits made from the same design, would be something that other haunters would love to put in their haunt, so I made sure the pictures were copyright free, and I had my friend make the custom effects art, so I have the rights to make copies of this prop if I wanted to sell them. Of course the prop needs a lightning prop controller to make them flicker and that is another thing I might make as well. I'll be in touch later to chat about it.

I love it! Feels like going through a dark ride.👻🕯️😄…And you also composed/played(?) the music? Awesome!

I'm glad you liked it... You picked right up on the vibe I was going for, My inspiration is clearly from Disneyland's HM, the changing portrait gallery. For the music I have a few synths and played something close to the Phantom of the Opera descending notes, and then a minor key scale. I had to be careful of the Copyright rules on RUclips.

      @ Wow! So you’re a haunter AND a musician!

@@FraidyZone Yes, thanks! I suppose you could call me a musician, I'm just a hobbyist; however, I'm a Firmware Engineer by profession, so all the electronics and code that runs in the Arduinos for all the props you saw in the video I had also made. All the wood working I milled in my woodworking shop. That haunt was almost 100% DIY.
