    I'm curious about NPC's, for example will I have a chance of running into hostile NPCs when salvaging a wreck?

    Oooh... I wonder if players on foot can just walk through ship shields to get within to do damage. I feel like that could be a really interesting mechanic.

    I think that there will be some reason, for commanders to have a ship with shields switched off?
    Probably stealth related?
    That will give other commanders the opertunity.

    Now that we have the infrastructure for people, can we get more involved mission types? CAS and ground attack, troop drops for dropship pilots, medivac, search and rescue, etc? It would be nice if our options weren't just fighter pilot, space trucker, miner, or bus.

    While I agree that standing on a ship dropping grenades on it sounds like a huge amount of fun. My concern is what happens if/when it takes off. How long will you be able to stand on it? As long as it doesn’t alter its pitch how far can you surf on one?

    Surely if they raise the pegi rating of the main game to be the same to odyssey, the problem goes away, it cannot be that hard to raise it. Madness

    • @CMDRPLATER

      More difficult than that Lee, age rating are decided upon independently like ones for movies. Game developers sometimes have to cut content in order to change the rating of a game in certain countries, for example Australia is well known for tough gaming licensing regulations.

    Bro I know you said you can’t wait and want to see it now, and trust me we all feel the same. But do you really want to force their hand with everyone wanting to see it sooner than later or let them roll it out when it’s ready? We don’t need another Cyberpunk 2077 issue on our hands!

      When I say cant wait I really mean I'm looking forward to playing it when it arrives. Do I want it before its ready? Hell no! I'm just excited about playing odyssey, the alpha will for sure be a buggy mess.

    I'm not worried about instancing. I play in solo only since engineering takes eons to get anywhere progressed enough to do pvp. your either on par with other pvpers or...your not. There is no inbetween. You either have the best most outfitted ships or you're fucked. you won't stand a chance.

    I wonder when they will start talking about other things than FPS which a bunch of players are not interested in.
    They only mentioned hacking, exobiology and salvaging once but never showed anything about ...

    I dont buy Frontiers explaination of Horizons players not being able to instance with Odyssey players. It sounds like a BS excuse and will lead to an enormous fracturing of an ingame community that is already seperated by platform and instancing issues as is. It is a way for Frontier to literally force players into buying Odyssey (even if the update has nothing that interests) just to continue playing with friends.
    I have recently started playing No Mans Sky and the difference between developer attitudes to their communities is night and day! Each and every NMS update is free (even including huge updates that completely change the game!) skins, engine/lazer trails are all earned ingame with no microtransactions. Bugs get sorted within a week or so. All that and more with a dev team of only 25 compared to Frontiers 400! It just shows how little Frontier cares about Elite and its community.

    • @davekennedy6315
      @davekennedy6315 3 года назад +1

      Maybe Odyssey will change Frontiers attitude? But as it is, all i see Odyssey bringing is yet more ways to squeeze money from a very loyal (and forgiving!) community. We already know that there will be suit skins, there will surely be gun skins, lazer colours and a bunch more. It all just leaves a very bad taste in the mouth!

    • @Stabby_Dave
      @Stabby_Dave 3 года назад

      @@davekennedy6315 : That's hardly "squeezing money" If you don't want them, don't buy them. Not having a pointjob doesn't put you at a disadvantage.

      @@Stabby_Dave i find charging for cosmetics in a game you've already paid for greedy (especially when you hear that Frontier potentially makes even more money doing that than selling the game in the first place!) It wouldnt be so bad if Frontier actually reinvested some of that money into making Elite better. Instead they mainly put out low effort updates, maybe a new ship or some of their famed 'personal narrative' (ie even more grind added to game already known as a grindfest!) I started playing Elite in may 2017 and the only really good update i saw was the last Beyond chapter (although the 1st was ok) Look at Horizons, they give us huge planets to land on but nothing to do while there. There just seems to be a major lack of imagination. I hope that Odyssey changes that but am i confident? Not in the slightest! Elite has the foundation to be an incredible game but Frontier just havent built on that foundation, havent evolved the game. Its felt like its been in maintenance mode for years now, i honestly thought Frontier had given up on it altogether. If only they'd given Elite the dedication that Hello Games gave No Mans Sky they could have had the same positive attention from the games media that NMS got (they completely reversed the games fortunes and even got re reviewed with far higher scores!) Best of all we'd be playing a much better version of Elite instead of the very niche, dry, slow character free game we do (although ive barely played since late 2018, giving up after the announcement of no updates for 2 years!)

    • @davekennedy6315
      @davekennedy6315 3 года назад

      @@Stabby_Dave when NMS added their version of Carriers you could form fleets that you could send out at your biding. There were derelicts that you could explore for loot. If they get damaged during missions or attacks, you have to land and repair them by finding the damaged components/areas. You can upgrade them with higher jump ranges etc. You even get one free of charge and grind free. You can store your 6 ships on them but also build a base on board with extra cargo space, hydroponic grow ops, make technology onboard, sell unwanted inventory etc (ive only been playing for a few weeks, so im still learning) Elites version stored your ships and you could sell stuff (only if you're comfortable with ripping other players off!) For most, it was just a way to move all your ships about but cost a fortune to buy and run. It sounds like even with Odysseys space legs we wont even be able to walk round them. Another example of Frontier seemingly having no idea on what to do with the things the community wants or just another major lack of immagination.

      @@Stabby_Dave but, of course, you can buy skins, voice packs etc. Thats the only way Frontier does show immagination, thinking up more ways to add microtransactions.
