I was sitting just behind the shown goalpost. It was a brilliant game. India played very well too till the end.

India was clearly a better team and was in total control of the game till 42 minutes of the game but they lacked discipline at the end with poor defence which Kiwis exploited. Anyway India would have knocked out easily in Q/F by Belgium with Harmanpreet Singhs form a deep concern over his penalty shoot out conversion. With Rupinder Pal Singh retirement post Olympics India is heavily relied on Harmanpreet.

@@vuttuon the game changed , we use to play in grass with wooden stick , where world switched to fibre stick and astro turf and that's how without proper upgrade and training we lost behind. Thanks to our sports department and govt.

I don't understand the field hockey penalty taking portion of the game...it seems a bit unfair to the Goal keepers that you can turn your back to the GK and try to change course and take the shot. It should be a straight run and a shot that way it is more of a 50/50 for both the penalty taker and the GK.
It is illegal to actually back into them, that would be obstruction so field players have to be careful so as to not back into them fully. Here it’s okay because they back towards them not into them. So it can be a hard skill to get right. The last Nz vs Spain game that happened only one shot went in from 10. Depends on the game really.
