Thank you for making these updates! Beautifully shot and presented. I'm down on Vancouver Island but I visited the Peace many years ago. Saw the WAC Bennett dam, Hudson's Hope, and all the wild roses. Gorgeous region. I hope flooding it will be worth it.
I traveled from the Lower Mainland in 2020 and 2022 to see the construction and the original landscape. So glad you are documenting the filling of the reservoir. Well done!!
Thank you for going to the effort to capture and share these videos. For people that don't live in the area and don't have an opportunity to see the project, this is really helpful.
thank you for keeping us all up-to-date. We’re all curious how it end up…I wasn’t in favour, but now that it’s here, we all need to make the best of i, I guess
Your welcome. I am sure most have noticed I stay neutral in the pro and con sides. I just like to document the change for history. But I must say now when you drive from Ft St John to Hudson Hope and come over that 1st hill, it is a specular view .
Thanks for documenting this historic situation. Time will tell if it was an acceptable compromise or a complete folly. One positive was that it gave you a reason to get out and video it and work on your editing skills and for that we thank you. I don't think anyone would complain about your colouration skills as all our monitors are different. I see it under these horrid monochrome yellow compact florescents so it wouldn't matter what you did.
Thanks. I never expected it to get so many views. 65,000 on the 3 week fill video. It sounds simple just drive out there and spend the day flying and driving but even retired guys are not free every day. Love it thou.
Thanks for this video. Interesting to see the reservoir and dam as it is now, but it's sad all the farms and river habitat that went under. Glad I drove that highway a few times before I moved south. I wonder how many old slides this will reactivate.
Well we never goy that much rain but it filled faster than I ever thought it would. They just announced yesterday that reservoir is 90% full and one turbine is producing electricity now.
All the planning that went in to the upstream portion of this project and nobody thought to remove things that will become water hazards later. Excellent video series.
Just out of view below the public viewpoint at the dam site is a couple barges and several peices of heavy equipment staged on the shore that have been removing the debris which drifts down.
that little flat appendage at the half way boat ramp is going to rip axles off trailers , i can see it happening ,,,,thanks for updates , from new brunswick ,

Thank you for documenting the filling Sir. Do you know what Hydro had expected for the rate of fill? Given the rainfall we have seen here in Prince George since the filling commenced, it would be reasonable to expect that the the only way that reservoir levels aren't exceeding expectations would be if they are spilling at a higher rate than originally planned.
@@iansimpson7058 I heard this on Global BC News that it is 90% full. That is just 2 days after I filmed the 3 main bridge areas. Google B C HYDRO site C dam Also if you are interested BC Hydro has 100's of pictures of building the bridges, and the dam and its workings. I do not know too much tech stuff.
Would be nice as you were show the new river source that you could of said this is looking down direction and now were looking up the new river, water direction is good to understand views, just something for your future video. All in all great shots.👁️👍🏽
I thought I did on a lot of them. Towards Hudson hope is up river and Ft St John is Down river. I will be doing the full reservoir one soon. They just announced yesterday that reservoir is 90% full and one turbine is producing electricity now.
@@Gary-x9w2g It is stripped of oil based surfaces and now 20-40 feet below water. All the old paved roads we’re stripped of the black top surface. Probably reused on new roads
This dam had the most environmental impacts of any major infrastructure project in Canadian history.. All for electrifying LNG operations to attempt to make the climate plan work, even though you can't do both
You are welcome. sounds like I will be doing the final filling up sooner than expected. They just announced yesterday that reservoir is 90% full and one turbine is producing electricity now.
The Site C Dam is a hydroelectric dam currently under construction on the Peace River, 14 kilometers southwest of Fort St. John in northeastern British Columbia, Canada. Project remains on track to have all six generating units in service by 2025 per BC Hydro.
One thing I will never understand, is why don't they remove the tree's, and other hazards before flooding the area? Now you have under water hazards that will be difficult, and expensive to remove. Been to other created lakes that were dammed many years ago, and these hazards are still present. Why not remove them now while it's cheap and easy?
this is going to alter the climate for sure... water temperature is stable, soil and stone is variable. Big upgrade if we need more cooling, and habitat for all sorts of flora and fauna.. bonus!
F.U. B.C. Hydro. You've destroyed some of the most fertile and beautiful parts of the province. Vancouver people commenting don't have a clue what they've done.
Thank you so much! I have a whole series taken at the Peace River Valley view point in 2018. What an incredible transformation.
It really is an amazing transformation.

They are probably going to need a couple more Site C's if BC goes all in on EVs.😛🤪

Yes there will be 3. Halfway River, Lynx Creek and I believe the 3rd one will be a day picnic and boat launch site closer to Hudson's Hope
I'm thinking it's better this way😀
It does look lovely when you pop over that 1st hill and see the new lake.
