Y’all these are NO JOKE. I just made them and I have NEVER eaten a better cookie. I’m not even kidding. Everyone who has tried them is so shocked I made them from scratch and they aren’t from a bakery. Also, I was nervous about putting the sea salt on top but it is the PERFECT balance. Wow.
I am so glad everyone enjoyed the cookies so much! The sea salt addition really helps put them over the edge. Thank you so much for leaving some feedback. 😊
Ruvin Eric Perez pretty sweet if you use milk choco, i made it with both milk and dark and it was still too sweet. i recommend adding a tiny bit of miso paste to it, it makes the cookies extra delish!
Alaa 777 it’s basically fermented soybeans, it has a very savory flavor! there was a chef i saw use it in a similar recipe and it’s very good in cookies surprisingly! you can generally find it at the asian food section in groceries or you can check in specialty stores!
I CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH. I have been making cookies for years now. Following many different recipes and none of them ever turned out this good, soft and delicious . You touched some very important details others don’t talk about. I always over cook my cookies, and can never tell when they are ready. I followed your advice to take them out even if they still look a little raw. PERFECT, they were soft and chewy. This deserves more likes and views. If you see this comment, god bless 🙂
Like so many people here, I made this cookie and was blown away by the depth of flavor, the nuttiness, and the crisp edges with the soft middle. Yum! I followed the recipe exactly except for the baking time. I did have to add a few minutes. This is a "keeper" of a recipe!
Boy, if you still need confirmation, i'm telling you...this is it! After years and years of looking for the best recipe, I finally found it. Thank you soooo much for sharing this 💜
@@SugarSpunRunHi! A year after this comment and this is still my favorite recipe. ❤ I just want to ask because I realllly want to try a mint chocolate cookie soo bad, but this is the only recipe that I trust and love.I want to put cocoa powder, but I'm not sure how. I might alter the texture. How much cocoa should I put? Should I lessen the flour?
Literally the best recipe-my go to! I made two batches last night and added a tablespoon and a half of organic natural cocoa powder to the flour mixture and it absolutely elevated the flavors! This is my favorite cookie, so addicting 😂
This is hands down the best chocolate chip cookie recipe ever!! The cookies are very chewy on the inside and the sweetness is just right. Hope a lot more people could discover and try this amazing recipe!
This is an excellent video I had never browned butter before I appreciate how each step of the browning butter process is carefully explained,: as is the entire recipe. I know on my first try that I was so worried about burning my butter that I took it off the heat too soon and still these cookies were dynamite delicious! I agree with both suggestions that the chocolate should be chunky and the sea salt is really a must try. 2/3 of a cup is 10 Tablespoons + Two teaspoons: 3/4 is 12 Tablespoons....I don't have a scale so had to use these conversations. I have my 2nd batch in the frig now ...this time I actually browned the butter. Easy recipe with amazing results.
I just made these. Taking a baking journey and starting out these types of recipes are wonderful... as are the cookies this recipe produced! Just amazing! Thank you Sam! As a tip, after making the dough and before chilling, roll the dough out into a log so that you can just cut off 2 tablespoons before rolling it into a ball for baking. This is MUCH easier than trying to dig it out of a big, cold, hard dough ball thats been chilling for 2 days.
What also works is actually to scoop out the balls before you chill them so that you only have to put them on your baking tray when you want to bake them.
I made these... AND OH BOY TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THIS, THESE ARE THE BEST, IF NOT, THEY’RE ONE OF THE BEST COOKIES IVE EVER HAD!! and DONT skip the refrigerating part, because I baked one cookie before refrigerating the dough to see the difference, and refrigerating the dough REALLY does something amazing to the flavor
These are in fact the perfect chocolate chip cookies. This is the one. Chewy and soft in the middle, crispy on the edges, perfect chocolate to dough ratio and actual flavor. They also don't spread a ton but yet aren't overly cakey. Perfect. I've tried a ton of different recipes over 30 years, including all the chef recipes and this is the one.
These are some of the best cookies I’ve ever made!! I added a bit of clove (something I do with all of my cookies) and it really took them next level. Thank you for this!!!
So I’ve been searching for different CCCookie recipes online over the last 6 months and I keep coming back to this one. It took me a few videos to understand the science behind it. Cornstarch and salt were game changers for me. I also tried different flours like almond and oat flour, and they came out great, maybe better. 50/50. 50%All-purpose bleached (for the fineness)/50% alternate flour. Thank you for this recipe!
Sooo i just made these. Maybe a little less brown sugar or a mix of light and dark would have been better BUT HOLY S%!T THESE ARE AWESOME!!! How awesome??? Neighbors that never even say hi said SMELLS GOOD IN THERE, like what?!?!?! THANK YOU!!!!
I’m pregnant and super picky when it comes to cookies and these are hands down the best cookies I’ve ever 1) made and 2) tasted. So worth all of the extra steps of browning your butter. If you were looking for a bakery style cookie that’s perfect everytimethis is it!!
I did a browned butter cookie recipe for the first time last week. What I did to cool my butter was brown 1.5 sticks and while the butter is cooling, I used the remaining cold butter to fully cool it off. If there’s a difference in flavor or quality from doing all browned butter I can’t tell. I might try using dark and light brown sugar together. I usually do only one or the other. But I will always brown my butter from now on.
Have you tried Bon appetit's recipe? The method of only using half of the butter being browned and mix after was also mentioned in their cookies. Please let me know if you've tried themmm
Sam, this recipe is craazy! That brown butter make all the difference and besides that my cookies would never come out looking like..cookies until I tried your recipe! Yaaaass, thank you!
Hi Sam, my sister and I made this recipe today. Our family and us loved it so much! Definitely our favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. The brown butter definitely gave the cookies a lot of flavor. Thanks for the recipe Sam!
This video was probably the best browned butter tutorials I've ever followed. I got it on the first try ! When following other recipies, I would always burn the butter. This one I did not!!! so happy. I can't wait to try out the cookies
Hi Sam: I had to tell you again how fantastic this recipe is... really easy to make as well... I browned the butter because I enjoy doing it...seriously fry's had a sale a couple of weeks ago on Land Of Lakes butter....I bought ten lbs to put in the freezer..., just as you mentioned you can put the cookie dough in the frig a day or two...even more ...I just baked a batch I'd had in frig four days and they are just delicious....I took some of the dough out before adding the chocolate because I just love the browned butter....you have such talent!....Seriously appreciate that you go out of your way to make recipes as uncomplicated as possible with losing any quality....this is the BEST chocolate chip ever flavor...texture...this cookie has it all..
Thank you so much. I really do appreciate hearing this. Your comment made my day. I’m so glad you enjoy the cookies so much! At least I’m not the only one that hoards the butter when it’s on sale. 😂😂😂 I always get stared at when I’m walking around with that much butter. Thank you again for the sweet comment. 😊
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for your patient explanation of browning the butter. This is the video I watched a few years ago before browning my butter for the first time, and I've never messed it up until now for whatever recipes I've done that has involved brown butter. You're an amazing teacher
Made them this morning I scooped them and put in the refrigerator to make my life easier ..lol I hate fighting cold dough. I did taste the dough and good lord these are going to be great. Thank you 😊
It's not hyperbole when I say these are the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. Even my son, who is in culinary school, said the same! The browned butter, chunked chocolate bars (we used an XL Hershey bar), and sea salt send them over the top. We also love how they stay thick and moist after baking...just heavenly delicious! Update: Mom and grandma agree!! 😊✅✅✅✅
I have been baking cookies for over 30 years. Always trying new recipes. I will be looking no further. These are amazing. I didn’t have a good chocolate bar, which I imagine would make it even better. The brown butter and salt just take these to the next level. Only one problem, may need to hide them from my husband, who has already had four of them. You are so easy to follow!!
A couple months ago I found a recipe for browned butter chocolate chip cookies. It's very similar to this one. I haven't tried this one but I can affirm that browning the butter makes them absolutely next-level. The smell of the butter when mixed with the sugar and vanilla is AMAZING!
Honestly, this recipe was one of the best out there. I tried Claire Saffitz brown butter, chocolate chip cookies they were OK. This recipe by far exceeded. And although Claire’s recipe recommended aging the cookie by leaving it overnight in the refrigerator this cookie by farexceeded enhancing the brown butter taste.
These cookies are so delicious and flavorful! Thanks for posting! Made a batch and they were phenomenal added in semi, dark, and white chocolate chips to mine!
I have never made anything from scratch before I made these cookies for my nieces and nephews and all of us were amazed. The cookies came out so good I almost want to open a bakery I don’t know if that’s plagiarism or not still in your recipe but it worked out amazing. Thank you so much for sharing. I am subscribing!!
I'm soooo glad I found you on RUclips!! You have the best recipes!!! I haven't baked the cookies yet, but I can't stop smelling the raw cookie dough. It smells sooo gooood!! I'm positive they will be amazing!!! Thanks for sharing all these little secrets that make a world of difference in baking!
I saw so many recipes and im so glad i decided to make this! I put around 120-130g of brown sugar just for the lols and man...i'm in heaven because these taste and smell divine (also i tried the dough for science..100000/10)
I tried this yesterday as I was craving for an easy choco chip cookie recipe at 1am. Yes at 1am, crazy right? Btw what I meant with easy was, no need of electric mixer. The cookies were delicious. Though I omitted adding the salt on top not so keen about it but still delicious. Will be saving this recipe thanks for sharing! And I am excited to try your other recipes.😊
I've made these now twice and about to make them again for my family for mothers day. They are out of this world fantastic with the brown butter and I use Hershey's special dark chocolate. The chocolate stays melty even when they cool, and the cookies are soft and wonderful. I've had several people tell me they are the best chocolate chip/chunk cookie they've ever had. Including myself. I wont make any other chocolate chunk/chip cookie every again.
I know it’s been a long time since you’ve made this video, but I just wanted to thank you for making such a clear and precise, instructional video.. it was much appreciated! I’m new at baking and I was super nervous about browning the butter. I figured I would burn it(like I burn everything else) but your directions were easy to follow and my butter turned out perfect! I still haven’t made the cookies yet. I decided to wait and chill the batter for a few days to let the flavor develop as you suggested. Happy New Year to you and your fam! 🎉🎄❤️
You’re so welcome! I’m so glad you enjoyed and it was helpful. Replicate-able results is the goal so it’s great to hear the butter part went well. I hope the cookies go just as smoothly. Thank you for commenting! 😊😊
Omgg thank you so much really you don’t know how grateful I’m after trying so many different recipes I was always ended up failing but thanks to your recipe this time it turned out amazing really really thank you❤️
This recipe is fire 🔥 Tasty had a simpler recipe but cookies came out hard and flat. It’s funny my wife end up eating all my cookies 🍪 and not sharing 🤣
😂 tasty is never a good source for recipes if you ask me. I’m glad your wife enjoyed the cookies. I guess you’ll have to make some more for yourself. 😉
I’m so glad I read these comments! I was so close to making the “tasty” recipe. Yours looks divine! The reviews are excellent! Immune are in the fridge chilling right now. I’m crossing my fingers! I only have Lily’s chocolate chips so I’m hoping they don’t ruin the taste of a good old fashioned chocolate chip cookie!❤
Best cookies ever..it’s a total win..chunky,crunchy edges ,gooey centre ..followed the recipe to T and mind blowing it was ..shared ur recipe to almost 10 -15 ppl ...can’t wait to try all of ur recipes 🤩finally a RUclips Channel whom I can trust blindly 🙏
Just a tip for anyone trying this at home. If you’re using salted butter, you might want to go easy on the salt later on. Your cookie will become salty and you won’t know how to fix it and then you will lose motivation and then you will end up eating peanut butter on bread.
Just made these and they turned out great! My first batch I left in a little longer so they were a bit crispier but the second batch I took out earlier and they're so soft and melty! This recipe was so simple but delicious!
I am so glad you enjoyed the cookies so much! I always pull mine out a minute or two early so they can finish baking on the tray. I looovvveee a soft cookie. 😊
I’ve never browned butter before and I was afraid. But I did it and it resulted in an excellent cookie! I think this recipe is easier than using room temperature butter and then creaming the sugars with it. Most of the time I don’t plan ahead enough to have my butter out of the refrigerator in time for my cookie craving! I don’t have to worry about that with this recipe. Thank you!
Hi, just wanted to say that I made these for the first time, and they were the best cookies I've ever made! The recipe was super easy to follow and your commentary is incredibly invaluable to me as a beginning baker. Thanks so much, and I'm looking forward to trying out a lot more of your recipes!
Best cookies I've ever made and ever tasted for that matter. My family agrees! Last week my dough was too dry and my cookies were harder than rocks. I did better this time. This will be my go to from now on!
These were the first cookies I’ve made for a family gathering and it was a major hit they fought for the last one (so silly) and ever since then my family has been asking me or waiting for me to make more I send them this video but they said they always mess up some where and I did another cookie recipe and it was not the same as these cookies so I’m going to be making these from now on no more other recipes. It’s really the brown butter that makes it so yummy!! Thank you for sharing 🩷
Question! 🙋 What's the taste difference between melted butter and brown butter? I've made chocolate chip cookie batter with melted butter (in the microwave), but never browned butter. Is there a huge taste difference?
There actually is a pretty big taste difference. Brown butter has almost a nutty kind of taste to it. It’s really really good, but you have to be careful about substituting it into recipes because you are cooking liquid out of the butter when you brown it. 😊
I read some of the comments and it’s ridiculous how you’re getting accused for fraud when your video was uploaded first. People need to stop making and assumptions without knowing anything. Some people never change. Sam, you are wonderful. I love your recipes and videos. These look fantastic. Must try soon!
I've never had chocolate chip cookies with browned butter before. I'm curious how they taste different. Thank you for sharing! Might have to try them! 😁
It makes all the difference. Everyone loved my cookies so much I make them all the time now. I'm a man, I work on cars and I play videogames and now I bake... Thats how good these cookies taste.
It will pop and sizzle so you do need to be careful but if it’s popping too vigorously and getting up to your face you should definitely turn the heat down a little bit more. 😊
I just made these cookies today. Truly, the best chocolate chips I have ever made. Deliciously chewy. Only thing I will correct next time is to let the butter cool more. Otherwise, they're wonderful.
I made this last time and i wanted to add some spice so I made caramel, put the caramel in ice cube trays, freeze them, and wrap the frozen caramel cubes in the dough. As a caramel lover this was really good 10/10 would recommend
I started making these with my home milled flour (soft white wheat) and homemade bourbon vanilla extract as well as the half light brown and half dark brown sugars - AND chocolate chunks……they are the rave in my house.
I heard about browned butter, never tried it until this past week when I needed a dessert for family dinner and figured i'd give this a shot. people are still talking about it and insisting this is THE chocolate chip cookie recipe I need to stick to.
I just made these! And just in case someone else comes along in the future and makes the same mistake that I did, STAY CALM! I forgot to add the eggs and when I worked the flour in (thinking I had done something horribly wrong because my dough was so dry and hard), I realized what I had done. So I added the eggs after everything else, thinking I had surely ruined it, mixed it together with my hands to incorporate everything as well as possible, and then hoped for the best. Aaaaaaaaand, they still turned out perfect and SO delicious!😍
This looks great. Can’t wait to try it. I burnt my first batch of butter and found your video so I won’t fail again! Can I ask why the cornstarch? I’ve never seen it anywhere else. Is this a crispy cookie or a chewy type? Can I reduce the sugar? I feel American recipes are too sweet. There’s a total of 340g of sugar in this. Would it affect the recipe if I reduced by 25%?
I’m so glad the video was helpful! The cornstarch helps make the cookie chewy and prevents them from spreading. You can reduce your sugars if you choose and they will still turn out. Enjoy! 😊
this was so helpful! it makes me feel confident i can recreate these despite my past struggles with chocolate chip cookies. great tips and very straightforward
My name is james I have tried so many of your recipes all have turned out excellent neighbors and friends all agreed thanks for all of your great recipes
I am making 2 or 3 recipes of yours a week and these cookies are the best. I have asked my bank for another loan so I can afford to buy more eggs and chocolate chips.

I’m so glad you enjoyed them so much! 😊
I made these cookies and honestly, they have ruined me for any other cookies! They’re so good :3
I’m so glad you enjoyed them so much! 😊
You're too sweet! Thanks so much for being such a big fan ❤️ Enjoy the cookies!
Excellent browned butter tutorial(: got it on the first try!
Yay! I’m glad you enjoyed it! It really makes those baked goods next level! 😊
I saw so many recipes and im so glad i decided to make this! I put around 120-130g of brown sugar just for the lols and man...i'm in heaven because these taste and smell divine (also i tried the dough for science..100000/10)
I'm so glad you enjoyed them so much! :)
I LOVE baking your cookies using browned butter!!
It makes them so much tastier! 😊
These are amazing! Followed the directions and they came out perfect!
I'm so glad you enjoyed them! :)
I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much! I wish I had the energy to bake at 1 am. ☺
I'm so happy you love them so much!!
I made these and they are delicious. I had never made brown butter before but it wasn't too hard to learn. Thanks for sharing this video.
You're welcome! I'm so glad you enjoyed the cookies! :)
The brown butter smells so good, I'm going to use brown butter for everything now. I'm going to put browned butter in my cereal tomorrow morning!
🤣
Omgg thank you so much really you don’t know how grateful I’m after trying so many different recipes I was always ended up failing but thanks to your recipe this time it turned out amazing really really thank you❤️
I'm so glad you enjoyed them so much! :)
They have the exact same recipe... only with toffee in them 🤷🏻♀️
That's because they probably didn't chill their cookie dough before baking.
@@SugarSpunRun shade on Tasty 😭😭. I'm gonna try your recipe right now ;)).
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed the cookies so much! 😊
Just a tip for anyone trying this at home. If you’re using salted butter, you might want to go easy on the salt later on. Your cookie will become salty and you won’t know how to fix it and then you will lose motivation and then you will end up eating peanut butter on bread.
😂😂😂 I actually have a blog post on substituting salted for unsalted butter. 😊 sugarspunrun.com/salted-or-unsalted-butter-substitutions/
Waaaaw. After 10 tries, I can say that I found THE recipe for Chocolate chip cookies. Thanks so much !!!
I'm so glad you enjoy them so much! :)
Thank you!
You are so welcome! I'm glad you faced your fear and were rewarded with delicious cookies 🥰
Hi, just wanted to say that I made these for the first time, and they were the best cookies I've ever made! The recipe was super easy to follow and your commentary is incredibly invaluable to me as a beginning baker. Thanks so much, and I'm looking forward to trying out a lot more of your recipes!
I'm so glad you enjoyed them so much! ☺️
Best cookies I've ever made and ever tasted for that matter. My family agrees! Last week my dough was too dry and my cookies were harder than rocks. I did better this time. This will be my go to from now on!
I'm so glad you enjoyed them so much! :)
I'm making these for the fourth time this week, that's how amazing these cookies are 💕💕
Wow! That's a lot of cookies! I'm so glad you enjoy them so much. :)
@@SugarSpunRun I
Thank you for including gram measurements, definitely going to try this recipe
You're welcome! I hope you love them. :)
I read some of the comments and it’s ridiculous how you’re getting accused for fraud when your video was uploaded first. People need to stop making and assumptions without knowing anything. Some people never change. Sam, you are wonderful. I love your recipes and videos. These look fantastic. Must try soon!
There’s only so much you can do. 🤷♀️ I LOVE your profile picture. German shepherds are amazing creatures. 😊
@@SugarSpunRun Thank you, they’re my favourite breed. These cookies look great.
I just got a German shepherd puppy not long ago. She’s 3 months old. I’d have to say they are my favorite too. 😊
@@SugarSpunRun Awwww, that’s adorable. Dogs and cookies are both amazing 😂.
I couldn’t agree more!
I love recipes that have the grams included.... thank you so much! I will be making these this evening!
You're welcome! I hope you love them! :)
@@SugarSpunRun they are absolutely delicious! First time making brown butter was totally worth it!
Just made these and they came out really good! 😊👌
Yay! I’m glad you enjoyed them. 😊
Honestly I have tried at least three of your recipes and I must say all truned out well. Thanks!
I'm so glad you have enjoyed everything! :)
Those are yummy cookies! Heck, even Cookie Monster would love to have one of your cookies. Hope he doesn't steal one.
These tasted so good! Try it for sure if anyone unsure is reading the comments
I'm so glad you enjoyed them so much! :)
I've never had chocolate chip cookies with browned butter before. I'm curious how they taste different. Thank you for sharing! Might have to try them! 😁
The browned butter adds a nutty, rich, slightly toffee like flavor. It’s really good!
It makes all the difference. Everyone loved my cookies so much I make them all the time now. I'm a man, I work on cars and I play videogames and now I bake... Thats how good these cookies taste.
That’s awesome! A jack of all trades! 😊
My butter exploded in my face twice even though I was stirring on low heat. Any help?
It will pop and sizzle so you do need to be careful but if it’s popping too vigorously and getting up to your face you should definitely turn the heat down a little bit more. 😊
I just made these cookies today. Truly, the best chocolate chips I have ever made. Deliciously chewy. Only thing I will correct next time is to let the butter cool more. Otherwise, they're wonderful.
I’m so glad you enjoyed them so much! They are definitely one of my favorites. That brown butter gives them so much flavor. 😊
Why have I never heard of browned butter until now?! I'm trying this recipe soon!
Browned butter really makes for an amazing cookie. I think you’ll love these! 😊
Me neither🤷♀️
I made this last time and i wanted to add some spice so I made caramel, put the caramel in ice cube trays, freeze them, and wrap the frozen caramel cubes in the dough. As a caramel lover this was really good 10/10 would recommend
Sounds delicious! I'm so glad you enjoyed them! :)
I too am a lover of anything caramel! Gonna try your idea! The caramel didn't leak out of the cookie while baking?
@@ummahmedca for me it doesn’t but I don’t know about other cookies
New to your channel. Looks delish! Great tips!
Thank you so much! 😊
I started making these with my home milled flour (soft white wheat) and homemade bourbon vanilla extract as well as the half light brown and half dark brown sugars - AND chocolate chunks……they are the rave in my house.
I'm so glad you enjoyed them so much! :)
Eeee!!! I love you...you are amazing!!! Yummy cookies...my whole family loves mine!!! Thanks xxx
Thank you so much!! 😊😊😊
I heard about browned butter, never tried it until this past week when I needed a dessert for family dinner and figured i'd give this a shot. people are still talking about it and insisting this is THE chocolate chip cookie recipe I need to stick to.
Brown butter really adds an extra level of flavor! I'm so glad everyone enjoyed them! :)
I’ve made this 10 times during this Covid period lol, including tonight
That's a lot of cookies! I'm so glad you've enjoyed them so much. :)
I'm so glad they still turned out 😊
This looks great.
Enjoy! 😊
Sugar Spun Run thanks for replying. The cookies turned out great!!!
That’s awesome! I’m glad you enjoyed them. 😊
@lilacfunk did you reduce the sugar? How was it?
This recipe is amazing! first recipe I ever follwed from you, about a year ago and never stopped watching your recipe videos ever since 💯

We use this browned butter or clarified butter extensively in all yummy Indian cuisines and we call it Ghee. It's usually available in Costco.
OK you've inspired me. Thank you for all your efforts in getting this great video together. THUMBS UP!!!
