One of the many good points she makes - when one hears the songs from the soundtrack of our lives, our minds go back to when and where we listened to it.
Nice interview. Sheryl's big sister, Kathy, was one of my students when I was a graduate teaching assistant at MU. I liked talking to Kathy and was curious about her last name, where she was from, and her deep southern accent. About 2 years after she was in my class, I ran into Kathy with her parents and Sheryl on campus. It was homecoming in 1979. She introduced us. Sheryl was just 17, but I would have believed it if someone told me she was 21, if you know what I mean. I was going through a divorce 20 years later in 1979 and my son and I were driving back to Missouri to visit family. We stopped at Taco Bell in the tiny town of Holbrook, AZ, and I was standing in line right next to Sheryl. Her driver was in line in front of me, wearing a Bette Midler Tour '94 jacket. I noticed their RV out in the parking lot. I didn't recognize Sheryl at first... disheveled hair, clothing, and no makeup. She had a melancholy look in her eyes. After her description of "Weather Channel" in this interview, I guess she was just deep in depression. She ate by herself and looked over at us several times. When we left, she followed us out the door as we walked to our van. The photo of her on the back album cover of Globe Sessions reminds me of how she looked when I looked back and saw her by the door. I regret I didn't stop and talk to her. Oh well.
Thanks. Indeed Sheryl talked about serious periods of depression in her documentary. Recommended.

Wow. I'm so grateful for all of this interview. 🙏
An honest interview from someone who has lived a full life. I love it... "the gift is in helping and communing".
I enjoyed watching this interview very much. I've been a fan of Sheryl's since I heard her first hit on the radio many years ago. (It's so long ago that it makes me feel old just to think about it, but a lot of things do that nowadays.) It's been fun to follow the career of this fellow Missourian and Mizzou alumna. Our time in Columbia just barely overlapped, I think, in the year after my graduation while I took some courses while working. I HAVE been to Kennett, but that was before I'd heard her music. I just listened to "Redemption Day." What a powerful song! The new "virtual duet" with Johnny Cash is really intense, especially with the impressive video.🎶
Wow! This is the best interview I heard from you!
SHERYL CROW SO AWESOME ON AMERICAN SONGWRITER !!!
Me too! My first love was Joni James the country singer.
Really good interview. Sheryl speaks a lot of truth as always, about AI and a host of other things. Thanks for posting this :)
I really enjoyed listening to this. Thanks Sheryl Crow and American Songwriter!
Love her❤
It's such a pity we don't get more of Sheryl in Australia. I even put a cover band together 12 months ago so more people (and friends) could get more of Sheryl's music "down under". She is truly a brilliant musician, singer and song writer and I love to listen to her stories and insights to her music. Can't wait to hear more about the "One Woman Show" ... and her mushroom experience ... looks like a long plane trip coming up but will be worth it! 😍 Love this lady

SC. Great lyrics…Captain Fantastic…
And literally higher frequency music. Marvin Gaye…soundtrack to Trouble Man, that’s inspiring…
Incrível 🙌 sempre❤
Love the song Picture you and KidRock loved that ❤️ ❤❤❤ 4:51
Beware of Darkness was magical live…
You and your beginning, middle and end always, but you’re so right…as you said, vinyl…
Keith Richards? Took me by surprise!
SC. Yes we treat each other like objects. I hope you buy Martin Buber’s I-Thou…
And I’ve been vilified and so write “nice happy poems” thar are wretched.
I’m all right brain…ah you like Cohen as well…
Love her but not anywhere near the level of Stevie Nicks
I disagree. More instrumentally talented than Stevie Nicks. Love them both but Sheryl is so instrumentally talented. Can play a ton of instruments.
why the comparison?
My God for someone that knew her back in the day, her plastic surgery has changed her looks dramatically! Not too bad but the difference is startling. I hope she doesn’t go overboard. Her bass player still owes me $40. 😂
