still crazy to me how this is considered her “flop” album and still have so many memorable moments, iconic music videos and songs that are still being played, be it in weddings, birthdays, clubs or graduations… her flop is still successful lmao
its a flop for beyonce status. just like rainbow, charmbracelet and glitter by mariah are considered flops even though they all went platinum or more and peaked within the top 5
I walked down the aisle to rather die young 🥹🥹 whole album special to me. Then she was performing it in Charlotte and I got sick soon as the chorus came in. Got back to the hotel and found out I was pregnant with my miracle baby after beating cancer. It’s near and dear to my heart.
I wholeheartedly truly believe this what made her an albums artist… no top 10s, album leaked 3 weeks yet still managed to go no1 only selling 7k less than her debut dil
@@JaTariusJarrett don’t get me wrong, dance for you, rather die young, start over, I care, I miss you, end of time, some great tunes, just not her best complete work.
I will forever be a 4 STAN. This album was sooo personal to me and it gave me tracks I’m still obsessed about today. Also thank you soo much for acknowledging the original track listing order. I wish the original version is available on streaming
4 is the record that helped re-cement my love and appreciation for Beyoncè not just as a pop hitmaker but an overall artist. She could have easily taken 4 in the EDM direction that was huge at the time. She flirted w/ that sound on Gaga's Telephone but when everyone was going right Bey went left and made an album purely for herself and not the charts. I'm so happy she took that risk because we got a masterpiece in 4, and she hasn't looked back ever since.
Beyoncé alway picks the right choice and that’s why she still running it. Everyone doing edm and that music is now consider dated. 4 is a fan favorite but it’s also has become a favorite who are not stans. It is the album that help Beyoncé career fly.
This was first album I physically bought, I was 11 so I was oblivious to the criticism it received. I adored everything about it then and still do. Arguably one of her top albums and eras 🤍 so glad it got redemption over the years ✨
I remember me and my sister having full on debates about Run The World. I felt like I got what she was trying convey on the first listen and loved it and my sister wasn't a fan. The fact that such a polarizing songs is pretty much an anthem now is so cool.
i’d only realised her greatness in 2019, just from seeing the dance for you music video pop up by complete chance on youtube, and now 4 is my favourite album of all time and it means so much to me, i just thank myself that i happened to click on dance for you, of course naturally being my favourite song of hers
13 years later, this album still holds a place in my heart. She really did challenged herself and decided not to follow the crowd and just went with her gut. This and MJ's Invincible are those records that stood the test of time.
That VMA performance was amazing however I always found it so bizarre how the world reacted to her announcement of her pregnancy when she announced it at the red carpet earlier that night
@@waynetvofficial exactly she definitely arrived on the carpet with that orange dress showing off her baby bump lol. Either way this album marked a pivotal moment in her career. She was very experimental and you could tell this was the music that she really wanted to make. Crazy how the songs underperformed on the charts. Also crazy how a lot of the songs from that year had aged pretty terribly lol
Candidly, I was one of those who didnt like 4 upon release. It had to sit with me for a bit before i could truly understand its prospective and how necessary it was for her to make. It was a soft reboot/pallet cleanser.
4 is still my favorite bey album to date along with bday. nothing she released aftr has had the same pull on me. the mrs carter album maybe but thts as close as it gets. I feel 4 didnt get its flowers bkus the soung at the time was edm focus, bey was pregnant and the confusing single choices. Party shuda been the lead or love on top. Or even she cuda kept her previous theme and do a duo single release like she did wit "i am.." and mrs carter. so many great songs. love her vocal strength and rawlness. Reminds me of Human by brandy which is super underrated and needs to have a video covered (s/n, I wish they wuda officially released "slow Love" as a duet single)
Man, this album really marked a transitional period for her, she was about to turn 30, and also she fired Matthew Knowles as her manager. it’s too bad this album doesn’t get a lot of love.
I Was One Of The Many That Thought It Was A Departure Of What She Was Used To. I Didn't Like The Album Over All Until The Past Few Years. I Really Appreciate Her Keeping R&B Relevant. 'Best Thing I Never Had' Is My Least Favourite Bey Song Out Of Her Catalog. But This Album Grew On Me And Is One Of My Favs Now
The best thing to happen to Beyoncé’s career is when the elevator leak dropped. From there Lemonade was made and Beyonce entered her living legend era.
Nice vid. Remember as well that Beyoncé’s 4 was released around the same time as Adele’s 21 so Beyoncé’s move to more ballads and love songs were compared to Adele

4 album is a decent album with a couple of hits...but it's definitely not her best work. Lemonade, Bday, Beyonce album are on top for me when it comes to her albums

From first week sales and overall sales it was far from a flop

This album is literally one of her vocally best ones. This album went quadruple platinum in my house.
Her most under appreciated album to date!
it’s one of her best in my books, love all the fusion of genres and styles throughout the album💿
This is a top 3 album for me! The music is so rich and Beyoncé vocals are at a peak. 4 will continue to age very well

People who didn’t like 4 are WILD to me because of this album is the reason I like Beyonce today!
@@JaTariusJarrett Black album, Lemonade, Renaissance, I Am, Bday are all far superior albums to 4. Not even in the same league tbh.
