I love that you like hearing about makeup in the past. You younguns (I am 60 lol) are SO lucky to have all the amazing choices in makeup today. I have always loved makeup but when I was in my 20’s we just didn’t have that great of stuff BUT we also didn’t realize that so I guess that was good. ♥️😎

My parents couldn’t afford to send me to college either so I joined the military so I could get help to pay for it. I started college at age 29. You are a great inspiration! Other reviewers are complaining about the Maybelline blushes but I love that they're sheer. I can't use the Juvia's/Rare Beauty ones because they're too pigmented.
The Maybelline blushes also have alcohol (alcohol denat) as their 4th ingredient. That's a lot of alcohol. If it was at the end of the ingredients list, it would just be a trace.

What a great video! Really enjoyed your candor regarding sponsorships! You stating that you're still making a good living without sponsorship has really cemented the feeling I've had for a while regarding channels that do a sponsorship in every video and especially those who do sponsorships that have nothing to do with their channels and that is that they don't need to. For a long time I would tell myself, "of course! People need to make their money!" But now I view it as celebrities and athletes and I don't at all think any celebrities or athletes deserve the figures they get. Do they work hard? Yes. But so do doctors, nurses, teachers, our first responders and our essential workers who sometimes are barely making a living. Realizing you make money without sponsorships lets me know that channels with your same numbers or bigger who do use sponsorships, affiliate links, etc are definitely doing it out of greed. What an eye opener and great perspective you gave. Thank you!
There's really nothing wrong with people working hard and making as much money as they can. It's more the ATTITUDE of some people who make a lot of money & frustatingly basically lose themselves -- forgetting to be human, giving back to others in kind, etc... ❤
@@lindabenson1764 I definitely agree with that point for me it is also the fact that they out earn most essential jobs. We do not need content creators, we do how ever need grocery store workers, plumbers, nurses, doctors. While I don't want people to do work for free, I also don't want a culture (influencers) who create unrealistic expectations of life and our livelihood to earn that much more than these jobs which are needed. I think content creature is work and they deserve compensation but at the level they're at now I do not believe they need that. Same as celebrities. Isn't it odd that in 4 short years a content creator can go from making the same as a normal Joe to suddenly making so much that they have a mansion for 1, go out to eat all of the time, have multiple subscriptions, travel the world etc all while they've also worked just as hard if not more but do not earn the same, in some cases saving lives? It's really gotten out of hand in my opinion the way we hold celebrities and influencers to such a high regard that their non essential job pays more than that of our teachers.

And you are absolutely spot on , that there are a huge amount of us in my demographic who’ve loyally watched RUclips, and will ABSOLUTELY NOT watch TikTok 👎!! Besides the fact TikTok isn’t regulated and primarily targets the “younger” audience, that it’s worth noting the majority of the “Wild ,Wild West” content, mentality and conduct is 100% reflected throughout its platform 😔. People can call me old fashioned, but saying repetitive “F-bombs” to express a positive SPONSORED/PAID review w/out disclosing it says it all 🙄😒. I think this is one of the best videos you've produced. I've watched you for years. However, I stopped all makeup videos for several years and have been back only for about 2 months now. I only watch you now because I relate to you so much. This video actually confirmed how similar you and I are with a few exceptions. I am very outgoing and never meet a stranger, but I am very modest with very strong morals. I wish I had known about the questions, I don't know where to find this. I don't have tic toc or Instagram (my husband despises social media), but I do have facebook (which he hates as well). I am the exact same age as you, there's so many things you answered that I could already tell about you. I figured you were an introvert and modest. I think you seem very well put together, modest, knowledgeable and intelligent, and family oriented. That's part of your charm. I LOVE that you LOVE Little House. My comfort show is actually similar, Ann with an E, have you watched this? I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, and they used to keep me bedridden at times. My husband would put me to bed and put on Father of the Bride. I couldn't tell you how many thousands of times I've watched that movie. I guess it was clean, calm, and funny that it helped calm me. I am definitely a night owl. Midnight is early to me. Anyway, I absolutely think this was a FANTASTIC video, and something us Jen fans throughly enjoyed getting to know you on a more personal level. This was wonderful and smart🙂 I truly enjoy watching you. If there's any product at all I'm looking into, I come here type in your name in hopes that you have a review lol. The jersey shore holds a special place in my heart as well. My oldest sister (who was 10 years older than me) took me there for the first time when I was 13. It was the first time I ever saw a real beach. I had the most amazing time there with her and my niece. She passed away last year, and even though that was over 33 years ago, it's still one of my favorite memories. ❤

So I heard about that sunscreen causing pores to get bigger. A RUclipsr talked about that. Maybe read up on what people are saying because if that’s true.. 😮
I tried the Trader Joe's sunscreen and it made my eyes burn so much I had to go back home & wash it off. To me, it also had a very headache inducing smell. But the price is great & it went on well so if it works for some people that's great! 😊
It works the same as Goop Unseen sunscreen. I have used both. You are not supposed to use sunscreen on your eyes. You should be wearing sunscreen, hat and sunglasses. 😎
I have an English degree and in theory and criticism classes there is an idea that no one work is completely original and that works are an amalgamation of things before it, like you pluck inspiration from many things in life and combine them into one piece.
I hope you can convince your husband to get a dog sometime! One suggestion that could ease y'all into it would be maybe fostering through a rescue first. Usually they pay any costs and provide supplies, and if it's not a good fit it's not a permanent thing. My husband and I fostered around 17 dogs total and kept 2 we absolutely could not part with. Dogs do take a lot of work, money, and responsibility but the reward of everything they give back and how unconditional their love is makes me barely notice the hard parts. I can see how not ever having pets in the past though would make it hard for him understand! Sorry my comments turn into short novels, I asked the pet question and am just obsessed with animals🙂 thank you for sharing more with us about Jen the person and not only Jen the content creator!
A friend of mine does fostering and she's trying to talk me into it! I think that could be an option (although my husband said it's not fair to let my son fall in love with an animal if we aren't keeping it so that's why he's been hard to convince.)
Jen I’ve been following you for some time and one of the things I appreciate about your channel is your memory for products and that you keep your makeup! So often when you’re trying “new” products you reference and grab a comparison from your stash. While this, I’m sure at times, feels overwhelming and excessive, I like it because it reminds me to check my stuff out before running out and buying said “new” item. I enjoyed this post and it’s interesting that you find interacting with thousands of people on your platform easier than hanging out with a few people irl. I find what you do to be far braver. I'm disappointed that I missed out on asking a question, but people sent so many good ones, it doesn't even matter! Jen, you know I've been watching your channel for years now and was a blog reader before that. You remain one of the most down-to-earth and relatable people. I'm sure it seems creepy when people say, "OMG, we have so much in common" when we know you only online. 😂 I fully acknowledge that. But I completely understand where you're coming from on the recognition of your work with other people in the greater community, social anxiety, travel stuff... I'm not going to dispense advice per se, but the best thing I ever did for myself was seek a therapist who helps me address my concerns and push my boundaries a bit further all the time. I also am so blessed to have a core group of close friends who understand my reserve in new situations and they are so helpful when I'm joining a group activity where I don't know as many people. Ugh. Anyway, love your responses and thank you for sharing what you did. 💗

Ppl can be so quick to complain, but you just see things for what they are and seem to have a very healthy perspective on things:) you could complain about yt ad revenue or having had to work 2 jobs, but you seem to actually think and ask yourself "did/does it affect me negatively?" which gives a sense of wisdom and brains:)

I think it's nice to have a significant other that isn't involved in Social Media. Everything about everyone is now on the Internet and it can feel pretty invasive how easy it is to find information out on someone. It's a breath of fresh air and also can bring different perspectives during conversations and gives a healthy bit of privacy in the relationship.

Other reviewers are complaining about the Maybelline blushes but I love that they're sheer. I can't use the Juvia's/Rare Beauty ones because they're too pigmented.
The Maybelline blushes also have alcohol (alcohol denat) as their 4th ingredient. That's a lot of alcohol. If it was at the end of the ingredients list, it would just be a trace.

What a great video! Really enjoyed your candor regarding sponsorships! You stating that you're still making a good living without sponsorship has really cemented the feeling I've had for a while regarding channels that do a sponsorship in every video and especially those who do sponsorships that have nothing to do with their channels and that is that they don't need to.
For a long time I would tell myself, "of course! People need to make their money!" But now I view it as celebrities and athletes and I don't at all think any celebrities or athletes deserve the figures they get. Do they work hard? Yes. But so do doctors, nurses, teachers, our first responders and our essential workers who sometimes are barely making a living. Realizing you make money without sponsorships lets me know that channels with your same numbers or bigger who do use sponsorships, affiliate links, etc are definitely doing it out of greed. What an eye opener and great perspective you gave. Thank you!
There's really nothing wrong with people working hard and making as much money as they can. It's more the ATTITUDE of some people who make a lot of money & frustatingly basically lose themselves -- forgetting to be human, giving back to others in kind, etc... ❤
@@lindabenson1764 I definitely agree with that point for me it is also the fact that they out earn most essential jobs. We do not need content creators, we do how ever need grocery store workers, plumbers, nurses, doctors. While I don't want people to do work for free, I also don't want a culture (influencers) who create unrealistic expectations of life and our livelihood to earn that much more than these jobs which are needed. I think content creature is work and they deserve compensation but at the level they're at now I do not believe they need that. Same as celebrities. Isn't it odd that in 4 short years a content creator can go from making the same as a normal Joe to suddenly making so much that they have a mansion for 1, go out to eat all of the time, have multiple subscriptions, travel the world etc all while they've also worked just as hard if not more but do not earn the same, in some cases saving lives? It's really gotten out of hand in my opinion the way we hold celebrities and influencers to such a high regard that their non essential job pays more than that of our teachers.

Besides the fact TikTok isn’t regulated and primarily targets the “younger” audience, that it’s worth noting the majority of the “Wild ,Wild West” content, mentality and conduct is 100% reflected throughout its platform 😔. People can call me old fashioned, but saying repetitive “F-bombs” to express a positive SPONSORED/PAID review w/out disclosing it says it all 🙄😒.

I think this is one of the best videos you've produced. I've watched you for years. However, I stopped all makeup videos for several years and have been back only for about 2 months now. I only watch you now because I relate to you so much. This video actually confirmed how similar you and I are with a few exceptions. I am very outgoing and never meet a stranger, but I am very modest with very strong morals. I wish I had known about the questions, I don't know where to find this. I don't have tic toc or Instagram (my husband despises social media), but I do have facebook (which he hates as well). I am the exact same age as you, there's so many things you answered that I could already tell about you. I figured you were an introvert and modest. I think you seem very well put together, modest, knowledgeable and intelligent, and family oriented. That's part of your charm. I LOVE that you LOVE Little House. My comfort show is actually similar, Ann with an E, have you watched this? I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, and they used to keep me bedridden at times. My husband would put me to bed and put on Father of the Bride. I couldn't tell you how many thousands of times I've watched that movie. I guess it was clean, calm, and funny that it helped calm me. I am definitely a night owl. Midnight is early to me. Anyway, I absolutely think this was a FANTASTIC video, and something us Jen fans throughly enjoyed getting to know you on a more personal level. This was wonderful and smart🙂 I truly enjoy watching you. If there's any product at all I'm looking into, I come here type in your name in hopes that you have a review lol. I agree! The pastor of my church said that it brought a lot of people back. So it was definitely a silver lining to a horrible time.

The jersey shore holds a special place in my heart as well. My oldest sister (who was 10 years older than me) took me there for the first time when I was 13. It was the first time I ever saw a real beach. I had the most amazing time there with her and my niece. She passed away last year, and even though that was over 33 years ago, it's still one of my favorite memories. ❤

I use Trader Joe’s facial sunscreen, a dupe for the Goop sunscreen. Silicone base, no white cast.
So I heard about that sunscreen causing pores to get bigger. A RUclipsr talked about that. Maybe read up on what people are saying because if that’s true.. 😮
It's always out of stock at Trader Joe's. I heard it makes some people break out also. Supergoop never breaks me out.

I tried the Trader Joe's sunscreen and it made my eyes burn so much I had to go back home & wash it off. To me, it also had a very headache inducing smell. But the price is great & it went on well so if it works for some people that's great! 😊
It works the same as Goop Unseen sunscreen. I have used both. You are not supposed to use sunscreen on your eyes. You should be wearing sunscreen, hat and sunglasses. 😎
I have an English degree and in theory and criticism classes there is an idea that no one work is completely original and that works are an amalgamation of things before it, like you pluck inspiration from many things in life and combine them into one piece.

I hope you can convince your husband to get a dog sometime! One suggestion that could ease y'all into it would be maybe fostering through a rescue first. Usually they pay any costs and provide supplies, and if it's not a good fit it's not a permanent thing. My husband and I fostered around 17 dogs total and kept 2 we absolutely could not part with. Dogs do take a lot of work, money, and responsibility but the reward of everything they give back and how unconditional their love is makes me barely notice the hard parts. I can see how not ever having pets in the past though would make it hard for him understand! Sorry my comments turn into short novels, I asked the pet question and am just obsessed with animals🙂

A friend of mine does fostering and she's trying to talk me into it! I think that could be an option (although my husband said it's not fair to let my son fall in love with an animal if we aren't keeping it so that's why he's been hard to convince.)

So often when you’re trying “new” products you reference and grab a comparison from your stash. I'm not going to dispense advice per se, but the best thing I ever did for myself was seek a therapist who helps me address my concerns and push my boundaries a bit further all the time. I also am so blessed to have a core group of close friends who understand my reserve in new situations and they are so helpful when I'm joining a group activity where I don't know as many people. I love how clear-minded you are. Ppl can be so quick to complain, but you just see things for what they are and seem to have a very healthy perspective on things:) you could complain about yt ad revenue or having had to work 2 jobs, but you seem to actually think and ask yourself "did/does it affect me negatively?" which gives a sense of wisdom and brains:)

We needed a new show after finishing Friday Night Lights. It is such a great family show that still translates today & really helps to put life into perspective. I think it's nice to have a significant other that isn't involved in Social Media. Everything about everyone is now on the Internet and it can feel pretty invasive how easy it is to find information out on someone. It's a breath of fresh air and also can bring different perspectives during conversations and gives a healthy bit of privacy in the relationship.
