Sad how Ubisoft treated this franchise, i played POD Gold on PC for a few years, and there is even a version of it on GOG, but Speedzone is clearly a remake sequel to Pod Racer. And then they go and make it an online racer without flesh and bones. Very much like Ubisoft nowadays
Probably for good reason. It's not much of a game without being online and since the servers no longer exist... I'm confident we'll get the game back online one day though. It'll be awesome to unlock all that content that you can't access offline.
***** i agree. with so many dreamcast games coming back online, it feel it's only a matter of time before some of us are able to experience what it was like to play this game the way it was intended.
What a shame to have all this content that only get accessible while you're online ! I think this Pod could have been a decent futuristic racing game for the DC. I actually own it and I was very disappointed by its lack of content :/ Anyway, your video made me wanna play it again :)
Just bought my Sega Dreamcast this week, I wanted to buy it so I can get into Sega games. But I was wondering if I'm able to go online with the regular modem the Dreamcast comes with, is that possible?
Sure. DreamPi is the best option but you can find a list of the different connection methods with links to tutorials here: www.dreamcastlive.net/connection-guide.html.
If you're going to use real dial-up then you really don't need a tutorial. You plug in the phone line and configure your Dreamcast using PlanetWeb with the settings your dial-up provider gives you. Keep in mind that depending on the ISP you get, a lot of the games may not work with real dial-up. DreamPi is a much better option and obviously doesn't have a monthly fee like real dial-up does.
What'd ye mean ? All those El Dorado series ? And ya .. visual novels .. GRRR .. lol , Dreamcast is king of those . But a visual novel that requires er heavily relies on connectivity ? Or maybe I'm thinking the wrong game altogether
No not El Dorado Gate. I don't think those games had any online features at all. I'm not sure what the game is to be honest. Adam Koralik mentioned it in a video once. It is actually a series of games and he said one of them was really hard to find.

It looks hard to control. I'm seeing a lot of wall bumping.
I love the look of the sky in this game.
It's more due to the fact that I'm not very good at it. lol
I’m going to go watch the music video for Thriller now!
good video! there was this awesome dreamcast game called alien front online

I definitely got to play this game online.
I've never seen a racer, where everything looks so alien.😂
Nice review dude.👍

Was this really compatible with the BBA when it was originally released?

Indeed. The cool thing is that it'll be like opening a locked treasure chest if we get the game back online. :-)
Don't worry about! Online will be open very...soon! ;)
@@darksynbios.i.1623 It works now. Want to play? I have a DreamPi.
I used to play it a lot on PC.
Got it .. shoot is it possible to DreamPi just to .. unlock stuff ? How long does that last er I need VMU space ?
I think there's a save file that you can download that has the online cars and tracks unlocked but you still don't have any real offline modes.

Pod is fun for 30 mins or an hour online, just like AFO.
But Speed Devils Online is where the real fun lies
Excellent game!
Online until 2003 :-(
No. just know this info... :-)

+DreamcasticChannel I believe the game was Grauen No Torikagu.
Yes that's it!
