My marriage is an ill fated mock epic because your gender isn't a family man, he's ok if he's under no obligation of taking care of family , a big time emotional avoidant when it comes to even giving verbal support. Great point. Nobody sees or even attempts to see the beauty in marriage anymore. All the nice, pretty and beautiful part of marriage is now portrayed in just the "dating part" of a relationship.

Apparently in my parents' head what makes a marriage work is alcohol addiction, constant fighting, suicide threats, bringing kids into the fight, still refusing to get divorced due to the stigma, an extremely sexist and conservative daughter-hating mother, a dad who was an artist in the heart but was forced to be a soldier/corporate slave, etc.

Because this is literally my chart.
Cancer ascendant with Jupiter in 3rd house (retrograde) and Venus in 9th House in Pisces and Sun in 10th House in Aries but Mars is in 1st house in Cancer.
And that pendulum part of Jupiter retrograde is exactly on point. My partner and I have been dating since last 7 years now and there are constant MAJOR fights.
Everytime we fight we are like no it’s not good let’s not get married, then somehow it gets solved and we want to get married then again not then again yes.
It has been literally happening again and again and messing with our head now and we didn’t know why this happens everytime and what to do. Because sometimes it gets toxic and it happens everytime we discuss to get married. We go ahead then come back then again ho ahead then come back. We are unable to live together in a fight but also unable to part ways also.

Commitment, loyalty, compromise/Adujstment, communication is key.
All of the above is important. But in MOST marriages, few of them are present that floats the marriage and rest of them are absent and even have a negative effect if that area is bad. This latter parts creates resentment at different levels.
Most of shrewd spouses have excellent communication,even gasliting, strategic adjustment where no real effort is required and use it to mock the first two areas.
Many still are really nice to the point of self sacrificing but communication is absent so expectations-feelings-recirpocation ie give-take always feels majorly lacking and are miserable.
For some first 2 are present but uncompromising on some critical goals or plain personality problem and this leads to breakdown of 4th aspect
This reminds me of an example where during dating, the boy made the girl wait, trained her to help him financially despite both having same jobs in same company and made her travel to his place and make all adjustments for him. This made him adjust lesser and lesser.
Does this also apply to long-term relationships? For example, we've been in a relationship for 21 years but haven't signed the paperwork.

Not to be sexist, but marriages not working today are due to modern culture; a lot from the girls:
- There is a mate selection abundance, more so for one gender. Its so easy to throw the towel.
- When all the attention is coming your way, why give anything back. Choose someone who is least bothered with what they get, and who'll give you the attention how much ever you misbehave or ignore responsibilities. The attention gets into the heads, and entitlement comes.
Nothing wrong with women per se, just saying that tech has had a major effect on primitive hunter gatherer wiring.

I always knew that I had to pay the Karma of ending my marriage. I had a rough time for 12 years after the divorce. It ended when I was initiated by my Guru. It’s interesting hearing you say this.. I always felt like we were supposed to be married for those 12 years and I had to go through my tests that I avoided when I got divorced.

I know myself very well and I know I am a committed person. Cancer ascendant. I have retrograde jupiter in 8th and is looking at venus in 4th house. Also I have mars in the 7th house. I would never leave my husband or hurt him. But I am sure he would. If he will not be faithful, I will leave him without second thought.
