The stock market rise is finished, but I'm not sure if stocks will immediately rebound, continue to fall or swing in a narrow range for a few weeks, or if things will drastically deteriorate. I'm feeling pressed to increase my $450k reserve.

I had initially planned to retire at 62, work part-time, and save money, but the impact of high prices on various goods and services has significantly disrupted my retirement plan. I'm worried about whether those who experienced the 2008 financial crisis had it easier than I currently am. The volatility of the stock market is a concern as my income has decreased, and I fear that I won't be able to contribute as much as before, potentially jeopardizing my retirement savings.

The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. I'm concerned about whether those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am currently experiencing. The combination of stock market volatility and a decrease in income is causing anxiety about whether I'll have sufficient funds for retirement.

This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. I've been utilizing a portfolio coach for more than two years, and I've made over $800,000.

I lost over $80k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. It took me over two years of being in the market, I'm really grateful I found one source to recover my money, at least $10k profits weekly. Thanks Kathleen Chandler.

  • @davidp252

You are a good analyst. I do worry though when you solely base your valuation work on average historical market multiples. Historical averages in a 0% risk free rate environment, like the last 10 years, are likely not valid anymore because people back then had no choice but to be in stocks if they wanted any return on their money (bonds and similar offered about 0%). That's all gone now and average market multiples today will not comply with those of yesterday. It may be safer to analyze DCF or similar. When valuing a company, yes of course look at average market multiples, but make it the last thing you look at. I wish you would add an actual real DCF calculator to Stock Unlock 🔓. Real DCF has no room for market multiples, and instead only adds up raw cash generated, and then discounts it, under the assumption that this is what can be returned to shareholders.

stocks returns depend on 4 variables variances: Var. in EPS, Variation in Multiples, Dividend Yield and inflation, apart from fundamentals and moat. Mutliples are a great way to add safety margin to your portfolio. In tesla you have an example of the latter, beeing the most innovative and advance car maker, with AI and autonomous driving, all the hype falls down. This has happened in the past at different levels but it is the same. Intrinsic value.

That's a very short-sighted way to value NVDA's business using the trailing twelve months. They had the biggest product breakthrough possibly of all time, three quarters ago, and you're going to include the quarter before that in your analysis? Really? Yes of course the valuation will look stupidly high if you do that, because that analysis was stupidly done. Six months from now, if NVDA is trading at $1,200 share (33% higher than now) using your TTM metrics you'll be like "Hey NVDA is not looking so expensive now!"
