    I've found an advantage of the Schacht Flip loom that you haven't mentioned. After you've got the warp rolled on, you can fold it and put the heddle on the edge of the table to thread. This eliminates back stress. I do this all the time.

    • @lindamhurt9503
      @lindamhurt9503 3 года назад +3

      @@teacat55 That is a tough question, because all of them have advantages over the others. Personally, I like the Schacht Flip for much of my own weaving. It is expensive. If I was teaching an introductory class where students had to purchase their loom with the class, I'd go with the Cricket, which is actually one of my least favorite since it is so short back-to-front.

    thanks a lot for this video, very helpful. I think all of them are very good looms - and
    no, at rigidheddleweaving, American products are not the only ones to buy. There are smaller countries in the world, that are worth to buy from, so why not buy from New Zealand-Ashford, Poland-Kronski, Sweden-Glimakra besides US-Schacht.

    Thank you so very much for all the info in this video. I am very new to weaving - have never had a look in my life - and, I need to find out all the information I can before I purchase my first loom. Can you please give me some information on what type of loom I should look into getting. What I'm wanting to weave is small to large rugs, and, blankets. Don't know if it's possible, but, I'm wanting to weave my own "sheets" or "fabrics" too - with my own designs in them. Is there any info or advice you can give me? I also like the feature that some looms have where the shed can separate each weft yarn for each direction you are weaving in. What type loom is that, please? Thank you for answering all you can for me - I do really appreciate it. C. H.

      It came out as a very narrow loom that was aimed to interest knitters into weaving up their left over yarn into interesting scarves. There was never going to be a wider version, but there was so much interest in it, the vendor went ahead and pleased their new customer base.

    I am new to weaving, and I am ultimately interested (not as a beginner) in weaving garments like saris or very particular apparel fabrics like silk taffeta or camlet or lightweight wool-silk suiting. My primary concern is that I haven't truly seen many truly dense fine-yarn fabrics on rigid heddle looms. Is this something the metal tensioner would help with? Or is that something entirely in or entirely outside the scope of rigid heddle looms?
    I'm a military wife, so a floor loom really isn't in the cards, right now, given that I move often and the handling of large expensive furniture is ... largely out of my control. I plan on making a pit loom when we settle down, but for now I'm putting a premium on width (because of the saris, which want at least 45 inches in the weft) and relative portability.

    Please show how to warp on the Kromski harp Weaving Loom, using the built in pegs on the back of the loom. Then, please give a lesson on actually thee setting up and beginning weaving on the 32 inch Kromski Weaving Loom and give an estimate of the cost of the stand, to hold the 32 inch Loom, the Kromski Harp 32 inch Folding Natural Finished Loom, stating what comes with the Loom, and the cost of a small thin boat shuttle with appropriate bobbins (if thread is already on bobbins, prefer aqua and teal for first project that l want to make and give me an estimate, please). For my project, l want to make a Beachy Table Cloth, because we live near the Beach. When and if this COVID-19 gets in control, and l am allowed to leave home for things l really want to do ( right now, since l am Type 2 Diabetic, and l am 70 years old, l am on the high risk category, so, in Alabama, l am only allowed to wear a mask and go to my parents Doctors, to the Pharmacy, and to the grocery store). When and if COVID-19 gets in control, l would love to already know a little about the Weaving Basics, so l can try to find. a Weaving Guild around here, so l can continue. to learn more. Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer my new be questions . Take care and stay safe. Patsy Walker Ronemous. ronemousp@gmail.com.
