Conan's daughter is SO SMART in using that long drive and having his Dad experience the music and choose who he likes, rather than forcing him to just go along with her and what she tells him is good. Its a genius way to experientially introduce people to great music, and its so sweet Conan and his daughter bonded that way
I find it touching that Conan's daughter invited him to join her at the festival, and made that effort to bond with her dad through a shared interest in music
I love how Sona said she couldn't be as creative as Michelle but Conan immediately disagreed and started talking about her book. It's always nice seeing the genuine friendship between them.
@@crazysox305haha same thought! Yes it’s awesome she wanted to take him. But also you KNOW they’re not doing GA tickets 😂 I’d absolutely do the same thing. I’m about to leave for day 3 of ACL in Austin. And man I wish I could have afforded VIP.
My wife has a gong that she gongs when she makes a sell. She works from home. No matter where we the family are in the house, we all audibly celebrate. Needless to say, our family loves the sound of gongs! Everyone should have one. It is in fact cathartic.
@@TheCoolCucumber if you want to host an event at Dave and Busters she's your lady! But alas we do not sell gongs. However, that gong stock I bought last year is going through the roof right now!!! :)
Just finished Michelle's book, 'Crying in Hmart', when I was in Korea last month. Thank you Michelle for sharing your story as it helped me deal with losing my mom. Also, thank you Conan and Steven Yeun for your funny videos of your time in Korea. You make me laugh so much. Terrific interview!
Watching Conan for years I was always impressed by the music acts. Groups that weren’t well known to me but great music. It let me know that Conan had excellent taste in music
as a jbrekkie fan I am so boggled to see Michelle on Conan but am SO happy for her!!!!! will sharpe was just announced to head the Crying in H Mart adaptation and I'm super excited to see more ppl get ready for this movie on the big screen; 2023 will the the hype year for Japanese Breakfast for sure!!!!!
Okay, I came in here hungry thinking it was going to be about food. Then I see this heartwarming video where everyone is uplifting each other. And now I gotta go find out what this Japanese Breakfast is all about.
I really love Japanese Breakfast. I'm not that into newer bands yet I absolutely adore them. So happy they're getting more and more famous (I knew about them because of a game called Sable, such beautiful songs there made me seek them out).
@@snapjackal I'm an old genXer and I found out about Caroline P in the strangest way. I listen to a chiropractor who has a wellness show on Chicago radio (Health Quest Radio) Hes Older than me , around Conan's age. He used her "so hot you're hurting my feelings" as bumper music last year . I needed to know who that was immediately.
I didn't know this singer and her band, so I literally thought that it was his daughter in the video and they were talking about how she got him into liking japanese breakfast.
Loved this episode overall but also I really appreciate how many women have been (amazing) guests the past few weeks. There are soooooooooo many guys on, and they're all objectively great, but once I noticed the disparity I couldn't unnotice.
omg I thought his daughter introduced him to literally Japanese breakfast and I was like yes ok 100% content, I'll watch anything of Conan why not. Gonna check out the band later😂😂😂
Lol who else thought this was actually Conans daughter? I was still convinced until he literally differentiated between his daughter and the guest. When he was telling that story I imagined him and the guest listening to music and I even thought the antedocte to the story was that he chose his daughters (the woman on the pod) band "Japanese breakfast" unbeknownst to him
I love how consistent Conan is with his interview skills. He interviews himself in front of the guest, answering questions they didn't ask. 30 years strong.
Anyone else clue in that Conan was in the VIP section at the Coachella concert that his daughter just happened to bring him to? I think that's as impressive as the rest of the story.
I'm sure Conan knows the old T-Rex song "Bang a Gong (Get It On)" ... I believe it was a hit back in the day. Yes, it hit number 10 on the hot 100 around 1971-72 2.o0
Japanese breakfast performed a few months ago at a local brewery and I still kick myself like once a week for not knowing about it until the week after
So thrilled to see my two greatest loves(comedy and music) intersect in such a specific way. Conan’s brand of comedy has been my favorite my whole life, and indie music is all I listen to since the mid 2000s. Now if Conan has Father John Misty, Julien Baker, or Eric Burton and Adrian Quesada on… sheesh.
I listened to Japanese Breakfast for a bit. And they play well, and it almost looked like I would like it, but then I saw it was primarily rooted in pop.

Conan never misses the chance to remind the people around him of how good they are!
Yeah she's not as talented as Michelle
@@chayo4537 You are conflating Talent and Creativity.
Conan must have such a good relationship with his daughter for her to want to take her dad to Coachella with her, that's so sweet
I hope me and my daughter can be like this when she’s old enough to escape her mothers delusions lol
haha i think it helps that he gets access to VIP sections!!! :P and her dad is pretty popular

I thought this was going to be about the most important Japanese meal of the day.
Me too. Was hoping for some good tamagoyaki tips!
Exactly 😂😂 I was sure that he'd be talking about how it's strange that in many japanese households they eat dinner leftovers for breakfast etc
Omg yeah 😂😂
Me too. I thought that exact thing.
Ironically, Michelle is Korean
Japanese Breakfast is about to get so many Conan fans checking them out. Between this interview and all the other references he's made of them.
Yup, thats me riiight now.
ruclips.net/video/cA5tKXijWBw/видео.html&ab_channel=Chad. The performance they are talking about. I love the gong too!
Me as well! Loving the Jubilee album
The Conan Bump!
Got me into it undoubtedly. Her music is beautiful! Thanks to the O' Brien family!

When I saw the thumbnail I was like "wow, Conan's daughter looks just like him"
Woah, I've been listening to Japanese Breakfast since "Soft Sounds" and watching Conan since 2012. I love it when two worlds unexpectedly merge.

Same! But not from the actual game. It was a way to advertise the game and i fell in love with Glider.
Conan's got small gong energy
I absolutely LOVE that he singled out the Paprika song because that has been my favorite song since it came out. ❤❤❤ I also love that he’s a fan. 😅
Wow, thanks for introducing me to Japanese Breakfast. I like their songs. Thanks old man Conan.
Like Japanese Breakfast, but Crying in h-mart was a true masterpiece. So much love for you, Michelle ❤

So glad that Japanese Breakfast is getting more attention!

Such a great lead singer. Japanese Breakfast so good. Get on it.
I didn't know this singer and her band, so I literally thought that it was his daughter in the video and they were talking about how she got him into liking japanese breakfast.
I love that I know now that Conan likes Japanese Breakfast like I do.
I wish Conan would do a stand up tour,he’s so funny.
Best guest ever.
conan standing head and shoulders above all the anemic children from wealthy upbringings
Spontaneously running over to strike a gong is something I could totally have seen Conan doing back in his talk show nights
I thought it was about Japanese breakfast and Conan's guest was a chef.
I guess indie pop is my ny genre now, listened to Japanese Breakfast after this pod episode and i really dig it
conan is REALLLLY proud that book and writing the forward for it
I thought he was gonna be talking about how good rice , miso soup and broiled salmon tastes in the morning 😂
It actually is a really fun book to read. Highly suggested
saw the title before registering and thought you were gonna talk about food and the artist is like a japanese chef
Love this interview ❤❤❤
I’ve been living in Japan so long I thought this was going to be about Conan eating Natto and grilled salmon for the first time.
I like how when Conan interviews people, it like 93 percent him talking.
I was feeling low and now I feel better after watching a few Conan podcasts

Conan and I are thinking of The Gong Show gong.
You should have said conan and i and dave were thinking of the gong show gong because i was too. 😀
I thought he was going to have his daughter on the pod lol
Michelle is cute! Im going to check out the band for sure! 🤘
Such a cool crossover!
I discovered JB through this podcast and I've just fallen completely in love with her and her music.

I love a good gong🙌🏽I have one and I freaking love it🌟🌟🌟
I clicked on this thinking that Conan was going to give me dietary tips. Pretty sure I'm officially old now.
I genuinely thought he was going to talk about how much he enjoys Japanese breakfast foods.
“I WROTE the forward!!” 😂😂😂
I was actually looking forward to what a Japanese breakfast was, kinda disappointed it’s not food.
I thought that Asian lady in the thumbnail is his daughter, and she's introduced him to Japanese breakfast, the cuisine...
Wat?
“Don’t call my gong small!” 😂
I thought this was about food.

I didn't know this was a band. I thought this was going to be a new health thing I'd give a try.
They also got a mention in 'Shrinking' this week.. I thought they were fictional!
From the video description I was hoping for morning based nutritional information 😂
Dang it - I clicked this hoping to learn what the Japanese eat for breakfast. Still enjoyable though.
Here I was thinking Conan ate natto for the first time.

I did not recognize the lady in the thumbnail, then read the first words of the title and friends... I was confused.

Conan’s pretty funny but I’m an internal laugher.
bwahahahahaha that comment made my day
I never heard about this band before, so i was kinda disappointed it was not food related.
Interesting that they didn't mention that Michelle also wrote a book "Crying in H Mart" which is soon to be made into a movie.
Why can I not find this episode in full?
As a 44 year old man who turned his 23 year old daughter onto Japanese breakfast this tickled me
I wonder if she meant The Hu instead of The Who when talking about gongs. 😂
damn conan speaks like 90% of the time
