I'm 57 grew up in a strict Catholic home. My dad always said you can read any book, watch any tv show, listen to any music you want, as long as you never loose your way with God. Great chat & recipe!!
So I’m 64 years old and I am reading the Bible for the first time! I am also listening to The Book of God on Audible. And I am reading a thriller called The Only One Left by Riley Sager. I have never been pressured to read the Bible, I just felt like it’s time, and I am enjoying it? Is that the right word for it? Enjoying? The ups and downs of emotions is crazy! I love thrillers and do not enjoy spicy romance books. I guess I’m a 1 pepper spice girl, in my food and books! Enjoy your videos! Have a great week!
I'm a librarian so I'm always reading. Psychological fiction is my favorite! Behind Her Eyes was a good book. Read The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and B.A. Paris writes a good thriller too. I love when people get excited about books and reading!
Just stumbled across your channel. You have the greatest personality! My favorite book I have read recently is "the sanitorium" by Sarah Pearse. Fast paced suspenseful whodunnit.
When I was much younger the bookstore was a favorite place of mine. My Dad always laughed to himself when I went in and most of the time never failed to come out with something. Today I read mostly cozy mysteries.
Behind Her Eyes freaked me out! I was freaked out again when I watched the series. I’m with you. I don’t do the steamy stuff. I just don’t get the point in reading that. I really want to read The Lying Woods now. I read on my kindle and check out the digital books from my library. I love reading.
I was a wee child .... About 68 years ago, my Dad used to cook corn meal mush!! 😋 He just sliced it and fried it in a skillet with butter......I remember it being very good!!
I have little time to read these days, but I did make reading the bible every day my goal for this year and I've been faithful to do it. 😊 I'm glad you've discovered your passion for reading and I appreciate the book recommendations❣
Do you like cozy mysteries? If so, I suggest Tamar Myers, (Pennsyvannia dutch mystey) Diane Mott Davidson ( a caterer) , Lillian Jackson Braun ( The Cat Who books), or fiction, Gap Creek by Robert Morgan, Adriana Trigiani (most recent book, The good left undone) for a few. Retired Librarian......
I am always on the lookout for good books. Some of my favorite Authors: Agatha Christie Krista Davis ( she has 3 series: The Diva series, Paws and Claws, and Pen and Ink )
I am currently hooked on mysteries. Going through Sue Grafton's series of titles starting with A and ending with Z. Like a book that wraps up in 300 - 400 pages. Thanks so much for the book reviews, and I'd like more, please, lol. Also, hooked on all your shopping vids.
I totally understand... I'm the same way. Like if I catch myself singing a non-Christian song. Or once in a while, I let out a 4-letter word... I read a lot of Christian books, though, but even then, I didn't finish certain ones.
I just finished reading "The Women" by Kristin Hannah..........Oh My Gosh.....loved it!! I also enjoyed "The seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" I think you'll like it.
I have been stuck on the Amish love stories the last couple years. A friend gave me one of hers to read while we were on vacation and on the way home a was taking the book she was reading. lol. Beverly Lewis is my favorite but I have been branching out to others now.
Kathleen Fuller, Kelly Irvin, and Amy Clipston are all good! Amy Clipston is probably my favorite! Many of her stories characters are interwoven and I feel like I am visiting friends from one book to the next! My husband lovingly pokes fun at my choices. When I read for fun, I am looking to just enjoy the time and not have to think too hard. Smiles, Abby Smith
@@abbysmith2754 we are getting ready to do a very long haul flight so we have lots of hours either at an airport or on a plane. And 2 weeks on a ship. So I have bought a new Wanda Brunstetter book. Sisters by the Sea. Seemed appropriate read for while we are on the Sea.
One of my favorite books is The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society by Schaefer and Barrows. It’s got a little bit of history woven into the story-makes the story believable.
OMG Meghan after watching your video today I started watching Behind Her Eyes and will probably sleep with the lights on I think I will stick with Goodnight Moon Love you on Utube please never stop Maureen from Gurnee
My daughter asked me how I can enjoy reading so much, and honestly it started in childhood just trying to escape home life into a happier safe world. Now as an adult I still follow that rule, is this a world/community I want to be a part of? So I tend to stick to clean and sweet books, I know some people say a downside to books is they're unrealistic or cliche but I live for that lol I like Christian romance books too because they contain so much encouragement especially when the characters are wrestling with their faith. Recently I stopped reading a book when my husband saw me make faces and he said, "Looks like you don't want to be there and part of that world..." lol ETA I'm currently reading Same Time Next Summer by Annabel Monaghan, The One Who Promised Forever by Tara Grace Ericson is a Christian romance about a marriage that is on the brink of divorce and my gosh I highlighted so much and cried reading the inner thoughts and feelings of the characters but I rated it 5 stars
Thank You for the Book Recommendations. Have you ever read The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah? It’s very good. It’s about WW2. It’s fiction, but it transports you to what it may have been like to be in France during that time. This book turned me on to reading again. She is now one of my favorite Authors. Also her book Winter Garden is very good too.
I just went through a period of reading a ton of World War II books and I have had to put it on hold. But maybe after I take a break that would be a good one to come back to.
@@MeghanBirch yes definitely if you’ve read many books about this time period it is good to take a break. Another Grandmother at a soccer game recommended it to me.
I really like colleen coble for christian mystery/suspense. Its not preachy and does usually have a romance( but nothing to make you blush). Some will keep you up to finish them , though 😂 . Also usually have a strong but gentle female main character. If your interested, I can definitely recommend a few to get started. 📚 ❤😄
I have “Fan Girl” on my Kindle to read. I’ve got so many books on my Kindle to read, I’ll never get done. Right now, I’m reading “The Rainbow Comes & Goes…”. It’s a conversation between Gloria Vanderbilt & Anderson Cooper. I read a lot. I have a kindle & get free books from this website. I rarely pay for a book, but when I do, it not more than $2.99. It’s just my budget rule.
That’s a good budget rule especially if you buy a lot or read a lot of books. I love the story of Gloria Vanderbilt. That would be a really interesting conversation between the two of them.
Thank you for sharing! I just ordered "Behind her eyes "and "The bookshop of second chances". I just finished a very spicy book called, "This summer will be different" by Carley Fortune." I am finishing, "Becoming Free Indeed" by Jinger Duggar Vuolo.
I’ve heard about that book from Jinger Duggar Vuolo. That would be an interesting one. I hope you like the other two books you ordered! They’re good ones.
God does care about what we fill our mind with. It can lead us in the wrong direction. I used to read fiction that I thought wasn’t too bad. But then I thought, would I want my child to think that these relationships are normal. Are they the kind of books that uplift your spirit? There are a lot of Christian authors of fiction. No “spicy” in them. I would suggest Frank Peretti. He is well know for his books “this present darkness” and “piercing the darkness”. Very suspense filled. My favorite that he wrote is “the prophet”. He also writes children’s books. Check him out. And please be carful about filling your mind with ungodly relationships. ❤
