I looked into the album after I listened and now I know that each track is a chapter and based on a novel.

If you want to meet Rosalía you must listen to Rosalia´s first album entitled LOS ÁNGELES . You will be impressed by her voice, it is really magnificent. Flamenco.

I love De Aqui No Sales, i feel like wether you understand spanish or not it transmits an uneasy feeling. And if you know that the context is that it represents the peak of domestic abuse and the control the man has over the woman, it gives you goosebumps. Especially because its through the point of view of the abuser. The sound of the bike to me is disruptive and aggressive but is also ironically the only way the woman can physically escape.
Chapter #10, Maldicion. The character ends up killing the abuser in order to break free which is why you felt like someone was stabbed or something. A quick summary of the lyrics are "I was told there was no exit in this path I'm taking, I will have to find an exit even if my life depends on it or even if I have to kill for it." The chapter translates to Curse.
I love seeing non-spanish people react to this because every song really transmits the story beyond language.

You right about that Cry me a river sample in Bagdad. Rosalia actually asked Justin Timberlake for permission to use it.

this is semantic , but it’s technically an interpolation not a sample

In El Mal Querer Album (2018) Like you said in your comment, the songs represent chapters from a novel of 13th century called Flamenca revolving around a toxic relationship. Cap. means chapter (capitulo). The videos are pure art and flamenco-industrial-Spanish aesthetics:
    1. MALAMENTE Chapter 1 Augurio (Omen): It's an omen of how the relationship is going to end "Badly, very bad". She knows the relationship is bad and toxic, but she commits to it. [VIDEO]
    2. QUE NO SALGA LA LUNA Chapter 2 Boda (Wedding) In Chapter 2 (Don’t let the moon come up) they get married. There are sounds of picking up rings. I think the song also suggests that the families know the wedding is a bad idea "If there’s someone who objects, May they not raise their voice, (Let the bride not hear them)".
    3. PIENSO EN TU MIRÁ Chapter 3 Celos (Jealousy): After getting married the husband starts to get jealous and possessive of her. Lyrics are sang in the husband perspective (she has no longer voice in the toxic relationship) and you can hear “I think of your sight as bullets in my chest” (title of the song) “I’m afraid when you leave outside, because everyone can see you smile” [VIDEO]
    4. DE AQUI NO SALES Chapter 4 Disputa (Dispute): Name of the song “from here you won’t get out”. Also sang by the husband perspective (not hers). He threatens her and beats her up. This song is the most aggressive and the claps represents him beaten her up and her screams. “You who provoke me, you won’t be leaving here…with the back of the hand I’ll make it very clear”. [VIDEO]
    5. RENIEGO Chapter 5 Lamento (Sorrow) Then in Chapter 5 you can hear her crying and also her sorrows of being lonely and mistreated. The violins represent that anxiety, the cries. “I cry in the inside and in the outside”.
    6. PRESO Chapter 6 Clausura (Clousure) Chapter 6 is called “captive, jailed - closure”. This song is about love being in hell, the matrimony with an abusive husband. The one who speaks is Rossy de Palma (a loved Spanish actress) saying that for her love is “Well, for love, uff, well, I even went down to hell; of course, how I went up with two angels (It hurts…); well, I do not regret having gone down but get down, get down, huh! (It hurts…). It catches you without you noticing. You realize when you go out. You think, how did I get here?”
    7. BAGADAD Chapter 7 Liturgia (Liturgy): This song is sample by Cry me a river of Justin Timberlake. Bagdad was a nightclub in Barcelona and the song is about loneliness and religious references to God, fallen angel, praying for change. “And she’s going to burn, if she stays there the flames rise up to heaven to die” “They looked at her without seeing anything. Alone at hell. In hell she's trapped, sitting, joining her hands to the beat of bulerias. It seems like she was praying” [VIDEO]
    8. DI MI NOMBRE Chapter 8 Éxtasis (Ecstasy): The song is called “Say my name”. She changes, her attitude is happier because she has met a lover and she feels more powerful sexually. She feels joy. This song is more upbeat. [VIDEO]
    9. NANA Chapter 9 Conception where she gets pregnant and loses the baby. Nana means lullaby, so she sings “At heaven’s door, they sell shoes, to the little angels, that are barefoot”.
    10. MALDICIÓN Chapter 10 Cordura (Sanity) Chapter 10 called Curse is where she wakes up (empowers herself) and fights her husband ending with her killing him “a river of blood”. The swords anime sounds are the fight, the kill.
    11. A NINGÚN HOMBRE Chapter 11 Poder (Power). The song is called “to no man” where she promises that no man will dictate her sentence: “I don't consent to any man; that he may dictate my sentence; only God can judge me; only to him I owe obedience. Until you became my jailer. I was yours, companion…On my skin I’m going to tattoo; your initial because it’s mine; to remember forever; what you did to me one day…”
    12. JURO QUE (I swear that): This song is a single that is supposed to be the continuation, the end. It is supposed to be her lover going to prison for her. After she killed her husband, her lover decided to take the blame to save her. Therefore, as she explains in the song, she had no time to “kiss him goodbye and she will go to prison for him”. [VIDEO]
    Love

Loving these Rosalia videos! Been hooked since you did FKA Twigs. Another dope Spanish artist you should check out is Bad Gyal! If you want something in English, Charli XCX is a little more mainstream but runs in the same social circles as Shygirl, Arca. Charli has a pretty dedicated fanbase too!! Her most experimental is Vroom Vroom EP, followed by Pop 2, and Number 1 Angel would be a more straightforward entry into her catalogue

it would be nice for you to react to her first album los angeles, it's maybe more difficult for you to get through the whole album because it's really folkloric based (with a bit industrial rock arrangements) and has a really dark, sad and heavy atmosphere (all the tracks talk about death), but it's also the best way for you to get to know her roots and her vocal brightness
