Really got into Omega when I purchased the classic speedmaster with hesalite crystal 10 years ago to commemorate the successful completion of a project in Florida and got to see the last space shuttle launch. Huge fan of NASA and the space missions. I’ve added the Modern wave-dial Seamaster 300M Bluesy and most recently the classic black Aqua terra as my daily. Sold my only Rolex (Sub) for the last two purchases. The omegas are my grail watches and are every bit on par with Rolex at a much more “affordable” price, eliminating the need to jump through hoops to just purchase one from a dealer.
I recently accepted a job with a contractor working on the Orion/Artemis project. I’ve been a space buff my whole life, so I will reward myself with a Speedmaster! Still split on hesalite vs sapphire, though.
Best review yet of the Speedmaster 3861. I want one! Just a matter of time and finances. I purchased the 145.022 Cal 861 two years ago and have no intention to ever sell it. Your great review about the step dial and co-ax movement of the 3861 was most enjoyable. Thanks again.
You probably don’t remember, but on one of your previous videos I stated that the white SMP was my grail. Well - Grail achieved!!! I now own one!! Awesome piece!
@@thewatchcount5992 It's a great watch. I have the blue version. I got it last year after wanting it for 25 years. Even as I've added some nice pieces since (the new Speedy hesalite, for example), I can't imagine there will ever be a time where it's not my favorite.
These two watches are literally all you need. Perfect two watch collection in my opinion. I have a Speedy FOIS, and a blue Seamaster. Rolex is too much jewelry. This is perfection, and true watch love. I will also be picking up the new speedy sapphire version👌
I’m waiting on a FOIS from my AD, they actually found a brand new one for me. However I’m really starting to get eyes for a seamaster. How did you go about choosing the FOIS over the moonwatch? What in particular caused you to go FOIS?
@@davenportsimon Both sick watches and I hope you are able to try or own one my friend! Great question. I wanted something different than a standard moonwatch that everyone else has. The engraving on the back is extremely beautiful. One of the best closed casebacks out of all speedies in my opinion. I also have smaller wrists and the size is more proportionate and accurate to original older speedies. I also love the older models and America during that era, and this is a throwback to one of the first original few speedies, before the moonwatch became known to what it is today. Also the applied logo and leaf hands, with matching seconds hand, make it a perfect dressy/sporty watch with elegance. Fun to wear during the Fall with October engraved on the back ;) Ps. The Seamaster is a perfect summer watch, and it shines in sunlight.
I owning a PO 2209.50.00 of 2007 , and last Friday i went into the AD for a Moonwatch . I looked and looked , at the leather and steelband option , but they were just not for me . I like it on display , but just not on my wrist ( and i wish it was different but it was not ) , i went out of the shop with a new 300m Black .

Kudos to Omega for listening and paying attention to the details and remarks of owners of these 2 very amazing watches!!! truly a beautiful dual! I'm a proud owner of both!
Omega is so under-rated. Of course, it's well known. But what I mean is that it ought to hold the pole position among the whole population, but of course that position is held by that other brand.
Omega makes great watches, and those are 2 of the nicest in their catalogue right now (IMO). I was really leaning towards the FOIS moon watch, since I loved the look with the alpha hands, and then a speedy racing panda dial came up and I couldn’t resist. Still think about the moon watch in the back of my mind now and again (and the Seamaster as well) but I’m loving my speedy. Wear them in good health!
Congrats on your daughter! Man, I only have the daughter and can’t imagine how life will be with more kiddos. Can’t wait to share my hobbies and experiences with her.
Congrats. I got one also and it just does it for me more than any other Seamaster. I prefer the last generation Seamaster 300 more than the current model but this Tokyo release really spoke to me. I compared it side-by-side with this white dial / black bezel that Bruce has here and I really prefer the blue bezel, hands, etc. on the Tokyo.
@@tomroman7455 the only ting i would quite like on the Tokyo is a red tipped seconds hand or even entirely red. I quite like how the black dial has that. But that is personal preference.

Timeless design and superb quality is what makes these watches a legends. I have the newest Speedy 3861 sapphire sandwich and old SMP 300m in blue, just like yours first watch but with 1120 cal. Love them both. Never going to sell these two.
I'm looking to buy my first "luxury watch". I've considered a lot of watches around $6000-$7000 including some entry Rolex watches. but I think I'm leaning toward the new Moonwatch. what do you think Bruce?
I also have both the Seamaster and the Speedmaster. Both are absolutely nice watches! at 1:42 I absolutely love that strap on the Speedmaster. Where can you buy one?
When I look at the Speedmaster on my wrist, I wonder why so many other chronographes have been brought to market since the 60’s. This one is so good, don’t need anything else.
I think that the Seamaster has found itself now just as much as it did in 1950’s. I just recently pulled the trigger on this same SMP 300m with the white dial. I planned on getting the PO 39.5mm until I went and tried them on. The SMP 300m talked to me when I thought I was set on a closer to 40mm watch. Trying it in person truly is different. I also liked the heritage 1957 but it sit too tall on my wrist and had too much polish for me, personally.
I own both of these watches and love them just as much. My Seamster is the chrome color way, the same as you have before. And my Speedy is the hesalite 1861. What sailcloth straps are you using on them? Looking for some great sailcloth straps for these watches.
Congrats on the addition of the little one....I have a Sapphire sandwich as well as a sword hands / Peter Blake Seamaster 300 Pro. My Seamaster has been on the wrist, and in the pics for the birth of both of my kids. It was also with me on every vacation my wife and I took before they were born.. I know you don't have any keepers, but my Seamaster will never leave my collection due to those memories.
Man Omega is really making some beautiful timepieces. I have the chrome SM 300 that you used to own and the red bezel Tokyo 2020 Speedy. I love them both! I am considering to buy the METAS speedy in hesalite in the future. (I will keep the Tokyo Speedy though)
Congrats on your new baby girl!!! She's adorable. Great video as usual. This Omega combo is missing an aquaterra 😉. Love looking at the movement of the speedy. The SM has a very nicely finished movement as well. Do you think the Speedy design was inspired by the Rodania Geometer? Some claim that the Rodania was released in 1954 but there is no concrete evidence on whether the speedy or the Rodania was the original design ...
I sold a black wave SMP in order to obtain my 2020 bluesy. Although I prefer the sub I still miss how easier the hands were to read and admiring display case back.
My friend recommended me the Omega Speedmaster Professional but he has told me to get the hesalite model saying that it's more historically accurate and the better watch. He also claimed if I got the sapphire model I would regret it later if I get more into collecting. Something about that doesn't sit right with me. Sure its the more historically accurate model however is the sapphire model that much different? To me it just sounds like watch snobbery at its finest but maybe i'm missing something. The sapphire model would provide more resistance to wear and tear and you get to see that amazing looking movement. Can anyone give their opinion on which model to go for? I'm leaning towards the sapphire but I am unsure if I am missing something about the hesalite that makes it better or if its just Omega loyalist customers rejecting anything that isnt historically accurate that are tearing down the sapphire model.
@@buffalorevolver6473 I ended up getting offered a Rolex DateJust 41 from my local Rolex boutique so I went with that. Still plan on getting a speedmaster in a few years but loving the DateJust at the moment!

Cool video! Did you have to add a link to make the watch 'Bruce Loose' when you got it from Rob? Or are your wrist sizes similar enough that you kept it as he had it sized. You both seem to have about a 7 1/4" wrist..
I am the same way about my Omega Seamaster 300 Chrono 41.5 mm and my Rolex Explorer II. I flip between the two of them every other day. But I have been seriously eyeing a 2021 model Speedmaster. As well as a Omega Seamaster Chrome face Chrono (to swap out with my Omega 41.5 mm). Love my Rolex but also love Omega. Its an addiction!! But I love it!!
Watchband on Planet Ocean is much more comfortable then on 300M . I do like how it looks ( i got a black version ) but the clasp is annoying me many times ( sharp edges ) , i never ever have/had it on my PO . If i would buy another watch , a new PO would certainly be on my list .
Same here, I have only two Omega watches... Seamaster 300 Chronograph Stainless Steel 18k Sedna Gold, black dial on rubber strap Speedmaster Moonphase Stainless Steel 18k Sedna Gold on brown leather strap
I really enjoyed your video. I have a question for you and possibly your viewers about why do they not see what we see when we look at the tree watches in particular the Omega Seamaster great white when it has to do with it's non-tapered bracelet? I can deal with that helium Escape valve and not flush to the casing for a noticeable brand from a distance. They could possibly even thin out the case height. Not that it's really needed but they could do some improvements on any Omega that they want and other watch brands also. I feel if they do those simple adjustments it would make the watch almost perfect. I own Rolexes I own other luxury watches but the Omega is a wonderful and handsome timepiece but they know what they need to improve on and they don't. Don't tell me it has to do for historical reasoning I don't buy that.
Another great video,Bruce. Two very impressive watches indeed.I would love to own both,as I would the Planet Ocean, with the orange bezel. Omega certainly produce some lovely watches. Many congratulations on the birth of your third child. Take care and stay safe.
I am lucky to have all three watches you named. Original orange bezel PO 2500 (2010), Speedmaster 1861 (2019), white dial SMP 300m (2022). I had a blue Aqua Terra 38 for 8 months but sold it - it was way too shiny and dressy for me.
What do you think Bremont S2000 Yellow that doesn't have exhibition back but a closed back that you can't appreciate and see the movement, us it no or still a yes for first automatic watch, u like the front but just wonder if it's a no buy when it doesn't have the exhibition back case?
Picked up the 3861 hesalite recently and just love it. The only thing holding me back on the polar white sea master is the helium escape valve. My thinking is the next upgrade will give us a more discrete escape valve and a taper to the bracelet and even some lime on the bezel. What do you think? Should I pile in now or be patient?
This model just came out in 2018. It’ll be a while until they come out with a redesign. Also, go try one on. The helium valve isn’t as bad as it looks on video. Once you wear the watch, it disappears mentally
I’d say wait a while and just enjoy the 3861 while it’s new. In my experience, buying something you know you’re not 100% on is often a bad idea, especially when it’s expensive. The bracelet alone on the SMP 300 is a deal breaker for me, as I wear most watches on bracelet. No idea if they’ll change it or the HEV on the next model though.
The only watch I own over 1k is my Omega Seamaster 300m. I’m already considering my next big watch purchase and I’m leaning toward a Speedmaster professional but I dunno if I’m crazy to keep buying omega. I absolutely love omega but I also like to experience different things and don’t want to pigeonhole myself into one brand.
These same two watches make up the core of my collection as well. I did find that the white dial Seamaster Diver 300M eventually didn't move me anymore, so I swapped it out with a blue dial. I find myself using the Speedmaster in dressier situations, either on the bracelet or a leather strap. The last Omega in my collection, an 8500 Planet Ocean, makes up what I think is a strong case for an Exit Collection. I've got an Apple Watch (which I think is great) and a G-Shock for tough/casual duty. I could be happy for a very long time with just the Omegas for the mechanical side of the equation.
I have a new 8900 Planet ocean that I wear almost every day and a new gold 8511 Tresor that I wear occasionally. Awsome watches. The PO is scary accurate, sometimes a little fast, sometimes a little slow. In fact, I haven’t set the time since I got it in december and it is -21 s. slow now. You can try and lay it in different positions at night.
15 months into ownership of my SMP 300 Blue dial. Best watch I own. Last time I set or wound it was June 26, as of this morning, it's only 20 seconds slow. I wear it to the gym, I wear it running, whatever. As you know Bruce, I love my AirKing, and my DJ 41 Wimbledon, but this SMP is the shizznit. And yes, these watches are jewelry, FUNCTIONAL jewelry. And we love 'em!
Nice sailcloth. I am pretty much a bracelet guy but when I do go with a strap I prefer sailcloth. I also have one that I put on my Speedmaster. Sailcloth is highly underrated.
i got the seamaster300m this year 2021 on august, mine is the black dial black rubber strap with sedna gold. Man i love OMEGA and there cologne i have and there wallet with belts the best bro. and yea its better than a rolex.
My seamaster isn't working right now and I've been wearing an apple watch. Way more functional and accurate but I hate it. There is something about a mechanical watch that you either get or don't get. When you get it you get it. Seriously considering a speedy but it's hard to justify.
I had the two on my hand just yesterday. Speedy is more elegant, Sea is kind of chunky imho. Both are pieces of art. If they made the Speedy with automatic... that would be epic.. And the white Sea with an Explorer II type bezel...
I purchased the white SMP 300m and Speedy 3861 hesalite last week. Great watches as you have mentioned. Couldn't help myself as I purchased the white Aqua Terra with the rubber strap. I can't even decide what to wear to work now. All very accurate with the Metas cert. So far, the moonwatch is not gaining or losing time. Perfect trio for any collection.
Congratulations for the new member in your family. Love your intro about the watch. I'm very fortunate that I also bought the new 3861 speedmaster~ can't wait to get my hands on the real thing:)))
I love you and I love your attitude.....with that said the cringiest part of the gold plated omega b roll was the dirty ass shoes. love the confidence!
I love the Speedmaster and it’s truly iconic but the Seamaster is a real marmite watch - the hands, dodgy bezel, HEV and poor bracelet are just too much to stomach

I ve the same combo + PO gmt, and 4 me the SMP300 is the one 4 every day use
Well done and congrats on your new baby BW
The 2 most iconic watches from omega's catelogue
Good question I hope you get a reply
@@buffalorevolver6473 I ended up getting offered a Rolex DateJust 41 from my local Rolex boutique so I went with that. Still plan on getting a speedmaster in a few years but loving the DateJust at the moment!
so which one are you going for? sapphire? or hesalite@@PTR2K
@@baegyu6715 I ended up getting the Rolex DateJust 41 as I was offered it from my local Rolex boutique. I do still plan on getting the speedmaster in future however
Cool video! Did you have to add a link to make the watch 'Bruce Loose' when you got it from Rob? Or are your wrist sizes similar enough that you kept it as he had it sized. You both seem to have about a 7 1/4" wrist..
I added the 1/4 link to make it nice and loose. Rob's fit gave me wrist claustrophobia lol
2 awesome pieces! I love the versions of each I have in my collection as well. Can’t wait to make more memories with them!
What kind of straps are those? The watches look great on them
I am the same way about my Omega Seamaster 300 Chrono 41.5 mm and my Rolex Explorer II.
Awesome review and congrats for your daughter 1 year later :-)
Same here, I have only two Omega watches...
Seamaster 300 Chronograph Stainless Steel 18k Sedna Gold, black dial on rubber strap
Speedmaster Moonphase Stainless Steel 18k Sedna Gold on brown leather strap
I got that similar Omega collection. Except i got the blue seamaster wave dial, and hesalite speedmaster.
Great Video! I love these two watches. 👍
Mate ur intro exactly spoke to me. I am looking at either speedmaster or seamaster . And within Speedmaster - Safire or Hesalite
what did you end up geting
My Omega 1-2 punch is the speedmaster + aqua terra. The only thing holding me back from a seamaster is the bracelet.
Check out what Uncle Seiko is doing with old Speedmaster bracelet designs on modern SMP
Is there a link for the straps on the watches?
What do you think Bremont S2000 Yellow that doesn't have exhibition back but a closed back that you can't appreciate and see the movement, us it no or still a yes for first automatic watch, u like the front but just wonder if it's a no buy when it doesn't have the exhibition back case?
I can just about pull off the new Speedy on my 6.75-7in wrist. Would the seamaster be a bit too big?
I love the design and engineering that goes into these nice omegas.
Where can I get those straps?
Congratulations on your third child, Bruce!) 🥳
Which one wears larger on the wrist?
The only watch I own over 1k is my Omega Seamaster 300m. I’m already considering my next big watch purchase and I’m leaning toward a Speedmaster professional but I dunno if I’m crazy to keep buying omega. I absolutely love omega but I also like to experience different things and don’t want to pigeonhole myself into one brand.
my pair is Aqua Terra and Speedy, totally relate to it!
I'm hankering for the orange bezel PO and a two tone constellation at the moment!
Can po 43.5 adjust bracelet fit 15 cm wrist ?
Did Rob give you the Zealande rubber strap as well?
Nope but the brand is sending me a couple for review next month
i got the seamaster300m this year 2021 on august, mine is the black dial black rubber strap with sedna gold.
They're like Yen and Yang, they complete each other.
I had the two on my hand just yesterday. Speedy is more elegant, Sea is kind of chunky imho. Both are pieces of art. If they made the Speedy with automatic... that would be epic.. And the white Sea with an Explorer II type bezel...
Bruce, could you say which strap is on your 3861 here?
Artem sailcloth 20mm grey contrast stitch
I purchased the white SMP 300m and Speedy 3861 hesalite last week. Great watches as you have mentioned. Couldn't help myself as I purchased the white Aqua Terra with the rubber strap. I can't even decide what to wear to work now. All very accurate with the Metas cert. So far, the moonwatch is not gaining or losing time. Perfect trio for any collection.
That was also my 1st Luxury Watch.
Love the new bracelet on the Speedy.
Congrats on the birth of your daughter Bruce!
That sea master has to be a keeper now, you can never replace that photo.
I always say no to keepers. I'm fine looking back at the photos and seeing a nice watch
Greetings from Spain! This is a stunner video. I own the black seamaster and i’m thinking of selling it for the white one…
white one is so cool specially as a summer watch
When you're ready to flip that Speedie, give me a jingle. :)
Two cult classics from a great brand. The Seamaster you really can't flip as your third child will be furious!
@thesmokingtire said it best, "A watch is just a sportscar that you take inside the bar with you."
One negative issue on the seamaster is the ar coating at the top of the crystal. It scratches easily…
bullshit
I love the Speedmaster and it’s truly iconic but the Seamaster is a real marmite watch - the hands, dodgy bezel, HEV and poor bracelet are just too much to stomach
Great duo. Now you need the Aqua Terra :)
