I would check into EBC to see if they have pads and cryo treated rotors. I got them for my truck and they are quiet and have good life. Watch the Clorox spray on equipment. I had a guy who was addicted to the stuff and ruined the cables and screens on his stuff

Simple green is an extremely good degreaser FYI.
I’d use that over Clorox. Make sure to cut it down 1 part to 4 parts water. More effective

I had two sprinters, first was a rust bucket, second was supposed to be the new rust proof body but after five years it had some spots. Both were maintenance nightmare's especially the second one that used the DEF flued, always in the shop in and out of warranty and out of warranty costs were insane. The only good thing was the resale value. Got a nice Ford Transit in 2017 the 2018 model and only two issues, a driveshaft recall and the rear wheels stop about three feet before the end creating issues on highly pitched driveways.

The dead times is what I hate about owning my HVAC business. It makes me feel uneasy. It's probably what's going to cause me to close one day. I love staying busy all the time. I like having a backlog. I'm just coming out of a dead time today, I hope..

Do the sprinters still have individual electric brake wear sensors on each wheel. I drove a 2005 for about 5 years doing around 26 0000 miles a year and those sensors were rotor savers, they would lite up in dash letting you know what wheel was low. My biggest problem was going into limp home mode with turbo issues, that no one could fix correctly in a timely fashion.

I think the foam idea is good but would be costly and wouldn't hold many items when it comes to nipples/pipes ect. You could only fit maybe 5-7 nipples on each piece of foam. I think 3d printed tray would be better. Something printed to hold the nipples/pipes straight up. You could stack them from small to big and resemble a box of drill bits. You could do the same for PVC and ABS. I've even seen 3d printed trays that fold over, just like milkwaukee does for the drill bits in the trays.

I used to take my eclass there but for anything i can do myself i just buy the parts and do the job myself. Smithtown mercedes is great but way to far from you. Hopefully you’re paying your employees well Mike making them “swab the deck” of your van, my first boss used to make me swab the deck of his no joke $1,000,000 yacht when we weren’t busy and I quit on his ass! I know you don’t but don’t treat your employees like shit, that was his mistake…anyways now he’s dead and never taught me the proper way to do service air conditioning and heating systems, I’ve learned a lot since then (17 years ago now), but teach em right and learn em well! I never learned what a vacuum pump was till I went to the second company I worked or recovery machine, little food for thought! There are scumbags out their, but sir you are not! Peter is looking more mature with that nice beard now…no more Peter Pan bullshit!

So. Your boss found work for you instead of reducing your hours and you resented it? That forced you to quit? I guess you figured that he should have let you take a nap if there was down time. The first HVAC guy I worked for wanted me to always be doing something. If he was on his car phone (before handheld cellphones) he expected me to be in the back of the truck organizing trays or boxes. Waste parts were always kept separate and removed from the truck at the end of the shift. Every time you entered a job site both hands better be carrying something. If you were going to the truck to get something, you had better be carrying something back to the truck. I still use his techniques 30 years later, and I teach what I learned from him to new guys.

Daniel should learn how to change the brakes and rotors, and do them himself. Would have to get a good jack. Every 12K miles is a lot of brakes. And after he learns how to do it, he can change yours for the cost of parts 🙂
