I just got my Crane 4 a few days ago. I am SHOCKED that it could do this! I never even thought about putting the gimbal on a car. I have a Nikon D810 for now. And looking at doing some indie filming which has a scene with a driver on the highway, this was just simply incredible and definitely has this Wolf spirit's tail a waggin'! Thank you so much for showing this. I'm so happy I'm subscribed!
NICE! definitely play around with any in camera stabilization settings to get the best results. I would have gotten better results if I had turned all my stabilization off
@@JakeSloan Really?! That made it worse. That's interesting. Regardless, I just found out the lens I'm using on my D810 is effecting the balance. Because I can't get this thing balanced to save my life. And though when I to the calibration test and all lights show white, when I go to use the gimbal it's a different story.
Did you know there is a list of lenses recommend for whatever camera that's compatible with the gimble to use by Zhiyun? I didn't. I just saw the list for the bodies.
Anyhoo, I'm keeping it because I still think it's a great investment. :)
That's pretty wild. Of course, the more you load, the more you hold. A gym membership should be part of Zhiyun's pro-kit.
Also, love the parallax on the 100-400 footage. Need to find me a copy of that lens.
lol well this gimbal has been pumping some serious weight then...
I just got it this year and man is it a great lens!
Unreal, I just got mine I can’t wait to test !
NICE!! I was really impressed
Those micro jitters on the car were crazy
Yeah that was my fault. I had the lens stabilization on the wrong mode
Nice nice, so it should definitely hold the fx3
oh easily
I love my Crane 3s, as the 14.5lb/6.6kg weight capacity of that gimbal was just what the doctor ordered for me personally. I generally use heavily kitted out cinema rig builds with v-mounts and everything.
The Crane 3s was able to handle it with no issues.
I'm curious as to what the ACTUAL weight capacity of this new gimbal is, because if it's similar to the 3s, I'm upgrading IMMEDIATELY. The 3s, while really nice, is just far too heavy.
I have the crane 3s as well and while I can say for sure having used both the weight capability of them seem pretty close, I think the crane 3s still has slightly higher weight capacity though. According to B&H the crane 4 carries upto 13.2lbs and the crane 3s carries upto 14.3lbs
Nice review! PS the only thing that could possibly go wrong on the car mount test... Moose! 😂
hahahah truth
Please help advise me, does the crane 4 support and work well with the ursa mini pro 12k with the sigma 18-35mm and a v mount battery or I have to use
I have no idea as I do not have access to that camera or lens combo
Woow, I like this so much... but whoooo, how much does it cost
Depends on which setup you get
Good review Jake
Thanks so much
Great video. I just bought mine and was able to mount my FX6, but can't seem to determine how you were able to install the counterweights to the underside of the QR Plate Carriage.
Can you please share which exact component and method you used to install the counter weights?
I will be doing more stuff like this and lenses for cameras etc coming up!
Sir I am going through the problem my zhiyun crane 4 gimbal vibrates I balanced it very well still it vibrates. Please solve my problem sir.
try making the motor strength less
Sir I have mounted Canon Eos R3 camera on Geon Crane 4 gimbal so I want to know what should be the motor setting in it. low, medium, or high
I would think high would be best for that camera
But when I do it on high, it vibrates a lot.
The weight of my camera and lens is only 1620 grams.
Finally someone doing long lenses on a single handed gimbal. I do this a lot myself. My big question is did you have to adjust your follow speed a lot for the long lens shots panning to oppose the tracking motion? This is my big problem with the DJI RS2 and RS3pro, they aren't precise enough and don't have the fixed sensitivity/acceleration set properly to get precise moves on long lenses, the Ronin-S is much better for that as it could set sensitivity to maximum and speed to minimum and get very fast responsive and very slow precise movement depending on how slowly you turn the handle, whereas the rs2/rs3p have fixed sensitivity and you have to ride the speed constantly and even with speed set to minimum it's too fast and jerky on long lenses and with speed increased it's hard to control and still to laggy for fast dynamic wide moves following action. How is this on the Crane 4? Does it solve any of these problems? My hope is that it would use a high sensitivity/acceleration curve even if the setting cannot be changed, DJI's fixed sensitivity curve is just too flat.
Maybe I missed this, but does it support 3/8" screws on the bottom of the handle? That's another thing that's sorely missed from older gimbals like the ronin-s. It's insane to hang a pro gimbal off a 1/4-20 screw and scares me every time I have to do it.
It doesn’t support 3/8 unfortunately. I did have to mess with follow speeds a LOT to get it decent
Crane 4 supports canon c500 with cn-e flexzoom?
It would likely not be able to be balanced based on how the camera and lens will sit
@@JakeSloan thanks
Thank you again for another great review. For Run & Gun outdoor/indoor event photographer that needs a few video clips with A7RV & Tamron 35-150mm combo, would your recommend this gimbal or RS3 Pro (auto-lock!!) ?
Thanks!
When you use the joystick to pan/tilt, does it have “easy-ease” at the start and end? Or does it move like a robot? Just wondering becuz my crane 2 moves like a robot, forcing me to not use the joystick.
it does, the more you lean into the joystick range the faster the movement will be
Is it better than DJI RS 3 Pro, this is what id really like to know as a first time gimbal buyer.
It's pretty much on par, but each has it's own quirks and things they do better, weight wise the Crane 4 can handle more, with the new out of balance lights on each axis it may be helpful as you learn how to balance
@@JakeSloan thanks Jake
How does this compare to the DJI rs3 pro? Are they similar?
quite similar, I think this can carry slightly heavier loads but they are very close
Impressive. But that goofy FX6 handle is just a design flaw.
I wish they would have given us a way to get at least one audio track into the camera without it
Crane 4 vs DJI RS3?
also is an RS4 coming anytime soon?
I have a feeling the RS4 will be coming in the next couple of months but right now the crane 4 can handle more than the RS3
how does this compare to the dji rs3 pro
It's close but I feel like this can handle more weight overall
This or rs3?
either would work well, but DJI will most likely introduce the RS4 soon so I would wait if you are on the fence about it
5:45seconds😀
yep some vibrations
@@JakeSloanI love that shot
How's the overall weight of the gimbal with the camera and lens? I used the weebill s for my shoots and I usually set it up heavily than what it's intended for(powerbank, weights, a side bracket for gopro 360 and another bracket for shotgun mic). It felt very heavy.
This is about 600g heavier than the weebill s and definitely gets heavier with the larger camera/lens combo but with the second handle it's not too bad to hold, I don't think I'd want to hold it for a whole day but it does well
First!
Thanks Paul!
Special promotion now for the Crane 4, from July 12 to July 14, you get a FREE zoom/focus motor 2.0
Where?
at Zhiyuns website: www.zhiyun-tech.com/en
Can you use the Tilta wireless focus system on this gimbal? Or you need to buy Zhiyun ecosystem parts to pull focus?
absolutely, you would just need to use the title control as well
@@JakeSloan It states that it can fly the Canon RF 28 to 70mm F2 lens, with the R5C. So i'm confident that payload won't be an issue, as I have seen you balance zooms with the FX6.
definitely
