I have an X30. It has a depth and richness that is hard to find. And the range of wood veneers and pickup configurations make them beautiful and versatile. Quality. Finally, you played beautifully.
I am thrilled to see Emerald guitars finally get a review from The Tone Lounge. You now know what we’ve known for a long time - that these are exceptional guitars made by stellar craftspeople. I hope this video inspires players to give them a try. In your review, you did fail to mention that the guitars are only available directly from the manufacturer. As far as I know they do not have any retail outlets.
Yes. and. . . it seems to be an extra, hidden cost is import and shipping export taxes. I'd like to know more about that disappointing down side to get the prices straight. Anyone??
I picked up an X-20 base model (in black, like the one in the video) outfitted with a Baggs Anthem and I'm extremely pleased. I spend part of the year in the north and part in the south and I became interested in carbon fiber guitars ever since I had a bridge lift right up off the body on a '78 Yairi one summer due to tropical humidity and heat. No such problem at all with the Emerald, of course. I chose Emerald in particular because of the price point and the aesthetic. They are a fine, dependable musical instrument and a real gigging war horse, just like Richard pointed out.
@@gair1944 It was installed by Emerald. They mounted it to the upper- right (soundboard) side of the sound hole as you're looking at it from a playing position. I think they had to flip it from the normal mounting position such that you couldn't see the low battery led. A nice sound overall, as one would expect, but the middle strings kind of got lost in the mix at times unless you really dug in.
Beautiful guitar.. have ordered a Kestrel.. can't wait for it to arrive! Great to see you two legends together! Lotsa love New, hope to see you again soon bro. xxx
Very informative review. Alister manufactured for me the first X-30-12 and I loved it so much I purchased a stock X-30. I’m 5’5” and always wanted a jumbo guitar but have short arms and I play them comfortably.
I got my X30 about a month back. I was sceptical, but really sick of the tops of my better guitars warping here in humid West Wales. So I went for carbon fibre to avoid that. Mine arrived beautifully set up and still in tune after it's trip across the Irish sea. The X30's bottom end is stunning and seems to defy recording!
I am a carbon fiber guitar fan all the way, no more tone wood considerations, no more humidiifieing no more worrying about it getting wet or too hot or too cold , and it will last a lifetime 👍🏆.
Hi guys, nice review, I am lucky enough to have an X20 and an X30. It should be mentioned that the new X20 has been slightly redesigned and is now “heel-less” like the X30. They are both stellar guitars, I have parted with a good Taylor 314 and a really great Martin HD28V since getting the Emeralds. PS, the word you are struggling to find for the pattern of the finish is usually referred to as the “weave” in the cf world .
Nicest revue I've seen. Just playing the guitars. Not beating on them or a blur of finger motion. Just the kind of playing moist of us do. I have a Rainsong that I love. Would love to own an Emerald.
You guys would likely do any guitar justice. Very tasteful players. Emeralds are gorgeous instruments but there’s no way I’d pay that much without being able to actually play it first.
I follow them on Facebook and they have regular shopping videos up. They ship some spectacular looking guitars. You'll find the vids on RUclips as well I think.
Peter Tremouliaris Google Emerald Guitars. They’ll sell you one on the spot and have it to you in 10 days. However, they customize like crazy so make sure you use their online chat to talk with them about veneers and pickups. Stock prices are on the site.
Has anyone had trouble with the Emerald guitar developing wolf notes? The X30 that I purchased in 2019 has gradually been developing wolf notes on the high E, B, and D strings. It has not been damaged and the strings are the same size and brand that it came with. It is very difficult to find any luthiers in my area of Canada that know how to work on CF instruments. They just want to crank the truss rod action up into the unusable range.
Every guitar in itself is unique. We can always differentiate a cheap sounding guitar from the best ones. The best sounding guitar always depends in each players preference...
Cost is about the same ball park as , say, a lower range Taylor and is totally justified, these are beautiful hand crafted instruments which will potentially last FOREVER, without a neck reset or any other maintenance apart from changing strings. I sold my Martin HD28V after getting an X30. No regrets.
@@hikinguphigh No flies on you is there, high hiker - but, it's difficult to know exactly when they will stop waffling. And the waffle isn't premium waffle either, just a bog-standard slice from the box of mediocre.
You guys are good at what you do, but I moved the dot 7-8 times trying to stop On some actual playing, waiting a minute or more each time. Haven’t heard a note. Bye bye.
Best sounding Emerald Guitar demo I've heard. Great job guys. Loved the Open G tuning jam!

I’m a J200 player and a Martin owner and I think these sound fantastic. Great video, thank you

How did you mount the Baggs anthem soundhole controls? Do they fit in the Emerald Soundhole?

These guitars sound beautiful, great playing fellas.
I have just discovered these recently and I'm facinated.

The quality of the fidelity, recording technique, and your presentation is very good. Best graphite guitar demonstration I’ve heard. 🎧
beautiful sound

If you are using microphones, why are the guitars plugged in?
Would have liked to hear the x30 strummed with a pick.
i think the 7 actually sounds the best ..followed by the 20 ... my q is have you tried out these guitars fitted out with the hyvibe system?

I wish you guys would do this with the X7!
Great job friends, greetings from Barcelona 👍🎵
Lush & rich sound! Obviously complimented by some brilliant playing!
They look good, sound good. Well made, I will have to try one out will they be available soon and where? Thanks

Since life is carbon based, I think this is the most organic guitar material❤🎉
Wonderful instruments from an awesome company. One day I'll hopefully own one
VERY nice gentlemen! \m/

Really missed the intro piece for a while now .
My experience was lovely carbon fibre work and well made - but poor frets. Perhaps allow another £60 or so to have these sorted out.
Yay
Came with an open mind and left underwhelmed
They sound great...but they are expensive.

I wanted to find the lap slide guitar ?
The polymer is organic. But synthetic
A biscuit tin with strings would sound better!
They are lacking warmth. Let's try not to find no negs. These really lack depth.
10 minutes of waffle before a note is heard. zzzzzzz
There's a fast forward button...... shocker
@@hikinguphigh NO! REALLY? Who'd have thought hey? ;o)
