Why are people always pointing their fingers to other people or other artists. Always complaining... Those artists are just people who are putting a lot of effort to make music we like, weither it's about (cutting edge) techniques or very nice vibes (or both ofcourse) I'm just happy I live in a century with all this awesome music. Thats all.
So true! I appriciate and respect the thing skrillex does. Cus he just took over the scene.. But if you go back 5 years ago at least, and you check out the london dubstep.. Or even the UK Garage what is even better.. but that is my taste.. then you see real dubstep.. and i bet 90% of the people would not like that haha!
Agreed, I've been saying this pretty much since skrillex exploded onto the scene. As future electro music, it is good. As dubstep, it's nothing like dubstep apart from half time 140 bpm. When people say "I love dubstep" and I'm like "which producers do you listen to?" and they just go "skrillex and nero" I just facepalm sooooo much.
Just got back from Outlook Festival 2015 where this tune was rinsed numerous times over the few days we were out there, absolutely killer! Hatcha, Youngsta, Loefah all those boys rolling this tune. Think I only heard Shy FX feat. UK Apache Original Nuttah more than this.
+Benjamin Herbst There was one thing i didn't like in Youngstas set... That time that camera dude tripped over a wire and disconnected some things so it was silent for 3 minutes or something like that...
Babylon System & Noah D - Examination Of Time Digital Mystikz - Anti War Dub Toasty - Like Sun Toasty - The Knowledge Pangaea - Memories Darkstar - Aidy's Girl's A Computer SYNKRO - Look At Yourself Distance - Night Vision Kode 9 - Nine Samurai The Branch Is Weak - Shackleton
"Brostep is a relatively new sub-genre of music which has no emphasis on soul. Brostep places more emphasis on ratty high frequency samples and oscillators that arent even low frequency.."I think this is wise words.. :)
great track. the video to the released version was quite memorable too... a colourful jellyfish flashing it's colours to the beat or something like that. a little odd but after so many years i still remember it so it served its purpose.
This beat is so sick! Makes me wanna get the block together to have a shoobs...just for this song though! Never heard the full version so thanks for enlightening me.
i uploaded this video for people to enjoy and old school dubstep track, not so that they could argue as to what constitutes dubstep and whether skrillex killed it or not. i'll admit i did get caught up in the argument previously, but seriously give it a rest now.
I forgot to be human! I was also going through the SPIN list of top Dubstep songs. You mentioned the word simple so I compiled a few simple Dubstep tracks I thought you'd appreciate. Cheers!
skrilex didnt kill dubstep , he never went near it ...what the fuck are you all talking about ? Boss subs ... i swear this shit melts heads on a big system
I'm new to this, but what I know now is that Dubstep has a slower beat rate than techno and the whole "bass drop" wasn't a part of Dubstep until Skrillex did it which popularized it. Am I right?
@L0wnyus this is dubstep. 'dub' is a form of dancehall music which is basically a hard version of reggae. 'dubstep' is mainly about off beat drums and how the snares influence the rythm, plus the main focus on dubstep is usually the drop, some have heavier drops than others tho. 'grime' to put it simply, is a mixture of electro sounds, dance, hip hop and garage; garage being the main foundation. if you wanna know more then look em up on wikipedia.
Nero describe their music as Post Apocalyptic Dub Rock :L Love them! But I do agree, I grew up on Benga and Skream and nothing beats em' Skrillex okay yeah is awesome to drop at partys and makes people go wild but when it comes to musicality yeah Benga knocks him out of the part.. also side note. I love the cinematic vibe of Benga's tracks!
@Wang429 ''with ‘lazy’ off-beat kick-drum beats that increase the feeling of swing. The use of velocity on each sample is key to making the drums both swing and sound less quantised and robotic - note how the velocity changes on the ‘lazy’ kicks. Meanwhile, rimshots on the off-beats add shuffle to the beat, while the contrast between open and several closed hi-hat sounds adds movement and variety.''
@L0wnyus in dubstep listen for the snare on beat 3 which is always emphasised. also of course listen out for that fat bassy sound, dubstep originally came from dub but has evolved very very quickly so the two genres aren't that similar anymore, if you listen in early dubstep they often still have that guitar on the offbeat thing which is one of the most defining characteristics of reggae - (where dub came from)
@ECCY101 I meant you were wrong about this being dub mate, its dubstep... not the age of genres. I was merely pointing out that dub was something entirely different :)
@JamDizzle14 okay interpret that. lazy off beat kicks- follows with what they said with swing. swinging music IS lazy music. thats why it gets that feeling. its still on beat to everything else. and when they say 'off-beat' they dont mean random noise. they mean a subdivision of the down beats. if you count music, it would be on the & in between the down beats. ex: 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & (1/8 notes). then there are subdivisions of that. ex: 1 e & a 2 e & a 3 e & a 4 e & a (16th notes). and so on.
@ECCY101 i know for a fact this is dubstep, but to strengthen my argument: ''The summer of 2007 saw dubstep's musical palette expand further, with Benga and Coki scoring a crossover hit (in a similar manner to Skream's "Midnight Request Line") with the track "Night", which gained widespread play from DJs in a diverse range of genres. ''
@L0wnyus also another thing, DnB and dubstep are simmilar bu not the same, although dubstep does have DnB influences. Dubstep is alot slower and has choppy rythm, whereas DnB has a seamless rythm and is alot faster.
@yesitsvetz actually bruv, music dont just sprout of the ground, it evolves and changes. every genre will have something from another genre in it somewhere, or will be inspired by or be a derivative of. music is like a story, its basically a different version of the same event told by all kinds of different people and intepritations.
People need to comparing artists, Dubstep is a evolving Genre and always will be, Caspa and Benga influenced Skrillex and Skrillex got pretty big after producing Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites, People who say he isn't Dubstep are right and wrong, he does multiple Genres and Dubstep is one of them, so can people please STFU arguing about Dubstep and listen to it! If you don't like it then find one you do like instead of criticizing them.
now don't get me wrong... but is old school dubstep, a calmer one.. With no drop? I didn't hear any drops o.0 maybe I listened to too much "modern" dubstep I couldn't hear it?
must be trolling. 0:55 unless by bass drop you mean something like skrillex or excision. this is the real shit here, old school style, way better than new 'dubstep' by a mileee
@JamDizzle14 'if you rate skrillex that highly you dont know alot about dubstep' The argument I made was that you suggested knowing more about a genre means that you should rate artists that are doing well badly..
what bugs me, is that people don't listen to music because they feel it, but because it's 'cool'. they want to fit in. then they bash everything and anything that isn't 'cool' to meet this demand, many dj's changed to commercial dubstep. america is full of followers. now everytime i go out to a rave, i hear commercial dubstep all night long. it's not about my opinion being better than other's, it's people not thinking for themselves in ignorance, and affecting me with that shit. peace
@Scodge08 at what point did i ever say skrillex wasnt talented? if you look at the top rated comment, youll notice that i said 'i didnt mind him'. i listen to his stuff, hes a good producer. so dont put words in my mouth.
It is spelled bass, also it is called a bass drop because of the bass, if you get a good set of headphones or a good sub woofer (Don't tell me you have some because you don't if you can't feel the bass) Also, this is the same tempo as Dubstep today, chill trance is usually around 130 to 120 bpm so no, not much like it.
@galacticdubz clearly everybody here cares alot about skrillex. enough to LITERALLY mean there are no comments about the sick tune... the dubstep community is in civil war
actually, Skrillex is complextro which I guess thats short for brostep. lol Classics are joker, benga and skream. o.O there are a few more but many people just don't know because its that underground I guess. I think walsh was another one but I can't be too sure because I've only seen walsh perform with benga.
lol can't people just love music. you people either love all the old shit and hate the new or vice versa. This makes me feel like some sort of hipster but am i the only one who loves both? Seen them all live and have always had a sick time.
@yesitsvetz ok then, name the genres you think are entirely on their own, and il tell you if youre right or wrong. because being as this world is inhabbited by human beings and we have the means to travel across it, its not impossible that all music is related.
@hcpalpha Oh I don't mind people listening to Skrillex' music. What I mind is that it still gets called dubstep when every last bit of influence from the dub genre is long gone. It's like listening to some jumpstyle and saying that it's the best jazz you've ever heard. People are bound to be insulted. They're just names, but our taste in music is part of our identity to the outside world. Nobody likes people messing with their image/identity. No hate intended, just having a nice talk.
AHHHHH! why Every DAMN video I go to "skrillex" why????? What? First Justin Beiber was the annoyance of RUclips comments and now Skrillex I mean he's cool and all but what does he have anything to do with this song ?.... Honestly people please.....Anyway this song is hard hitting.... and that's all I've got to say.
Why are people always pointing their fingers to other people or other artists.
Always complaining...
Those artists are just people who are putting a lot of effort to make music we like, weither it's about (cutting edge) techniques or very nice vibes (or both ofcourse)
I'm just happy I live in a century with all this awesome music.
Thats all.
Benga and Coki make the best drum sounds. It's hypnotic. The clap just bores into my mind.
I can't believe this is considered old school now...man, I'm getting old. Thanks for the upload.
No hun, this is Benga...Benga is one of the pioneers of dubstep. Know your music history...open your mind and embrace every facet of the genre. #PLUR
I remember listening to this song blazed with earphones. It feels like the song never ends. It's just awesome.
When Dubstep had Dub in it.
oh give over
Man I haven't heard this in ages so good
Another of the mind gums that got in my head.
One of the original Dubstep tracks to come out of the UK.. Benga is a legend
So true! I appriciate and respect the thing skrillex does. Cus he just took over the scene.. But if you go back 5 years ago at least, and you check out the london dubstep.. Or even the UK Garage what is even better.. but that is my taste.. then you see real dubstep.. and i bet 90% of the people would not like that haha!
this song is sickkk iv'e been after this 4 ages
Shit blew my mind when it came out. When you really think about where this is coming from its wild.
Top City too dope

Mike AnT what are you on about this was the origins of dubstep
Mike AnT I kinda want to know what you thought this was
its cool
@@MikeU1 this = dubstep. Skrillex invented a subgenre of dubstep called brostep

I'm new to this, but what I know now is that Dubstep has a slower beat rate than techno and the whole "bass drop" wasn't a part of Dubstep until Skrillex did it which popularized it. Am I right?
Well said and cheers for uploading, this track definetely sounds very much like a Night time track as well :)

ABSOLUTELY MASSSIVE TUNE!
this track is literally some of the best i've ever had eargasms off.
This tune was WAY AHEAD OF ITS TIME.
Nothing beats Benga!
what kinda speakers do you use? that's usually where most people with your problem are having issues.
@L0wnyus this is dubstep. 'dub' is a form of dancehall music which is basically a hard version of reggae. Nero describe their music as Post Apocalyptic Dub Rock :L Love them! how can something 6:46 long be the same all the way through and still be the sickest tune

so much love going on here
There are indeed bassdrops at 0:55 and 3:35
They are more subtle than most but still fit under the definition of bassdrop
wow, this is good. random clicking actually got me some where.
listen to this song in 240p and then listen to it in 480p and u get to listen to this great song twice but diffrently :)
@ECCY101 WRONG. dub has been around since the 60s.

Rusko may have a Brostep style but at least he's sticking to his roots, he hasn't gone all out mainstream.
questa, che mandano prima dei concerti dei subsonica, è stupenda ma mi mette una cifra di ansia :S
It can indeed be dubstep without a bassdrop.
10 years later... is till feel like I just popped a pil an a way to rave lol

love the bass its sik
Yeah... 420p is the best way to listen to this tune :)
@ReverseMusicMan i'm not too big on skrillex, dont hate him either. but i love both benga and borgore.
@hcpalpha Oh I don't mind people listening to Skrillex' music. What I mind is that it still gets called dubstep when every last bit of influence from the dub genre is long gone.
